If you had only twenty-four hours to live, and knew the exact time of your death, though not the circumstances, what would you do with those twenty-four hours?

Avoid death.

Will you be using a Ferrari, or something less esoteric? Death tends to be quite stubborn. Especially on a time schedule.

A Necronomicron, a Death Note, a genie bottle, and sell my soul to Asmodeus.

Alternatively I'd kill myself before the time in order to mess up the schedual.

So far we have a freerunner and a suicide. Lovely.

I would punch as many people in the face as I could. I would just never stop punching for 24 solid hours.

But see, that's the thing; I don't have anger-management problems. I can only count on one hand the number of times I've gotten into any kind of physical altercation with another person. I'm pretty much a pacifist. The spirit of my punchings wouldn't be "Oh I hate all of you punchpunchpunch" but more like "Whoa! I'm punching people! I'm LITERALLY punching people! This is awesome!"

Either that or I would smoke all of the drugs I could find.

You could try combining them for a grande finale? You only have twenty-four hours after all.

Amusing. So, we now how a freerunner, a suicide and a druggie with a punching fetish. This is getting more and more interesting.

I'd get a shotgun and as much ammunition as I can carry in a backpack. I shoot a bunch of random people and set some buildings on fire. 10 minutes before I'm set to die, I throw the remaining ammo in a fire.

Regret that I didn't get a larger life insurance policy...
Spend about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to make a wager with someone I don't like about my time of death, and give up...
Check the law regarding the ability of credit card debt to be inherited...
(if it can't be) Wrack up charges on my card to get a one-way ticket to Vegas for me, a two-way ticket for my SO, and have a last night of my life going buck-wild like I've never really had a chance to before.  Is it so wrong to want to see a strip show and tuck a hundred dollar bill into the g-string of a handsome young buck before I die?
(if it can be) Probably drive up to Albuquerque and drag all my friends who live in the city out for a night of bar-hopping, a habit the lot of us never really got into and after I suddenly die at the end, I suspect they would never do again.

In short, after I lament the money thing, go out with a bang as best I can.

(alternate and morbid answer) Remember that though you can't take your things with you when you go, you can bring an entourage if you plan right.  Anyone remember the right ratio of Styrofoam to gasoline?

Either I'd disbelieve and live my last 24h like any other 24h, or I'd go utterly and completely insane.

The thought that such a prediction being possible is so against everything I believe in that I wouldn't be able to think rationally anymore. I'd probably spend the last 23h I'd have left in a mental institution.

Since I'm boring, I'd probably spend time with my wife. Maybe I'd do something lame like write letters or e-mails to people, but I'd probably just sit around depressed.

Spend most of it saying goodbye to my wife - several times - then drive an 18 wheeler full of bull and dyanmite through the front door of FOX News.

Ok, so I know I've got 24 actual hours.  That means I'm gonna try and do all the craziest crap I can come up with and fit in the alloted time.  I'm not gonna die for 24 hours, so I know whatever it is I try, I'll survive.  And, if I don't, who cares?  If I'm maimed?  I can last a few hours maimed - if I'm even awake.  So yeah, crazy stuff.  Cuz why not.

Hmm, I think I'd spend my last 24 hours with my friends if at all possible. Maybe play some D&D. Then I'd write down my campaign's plot and hand it off to the other guy in my group who can DM well. What kind of gamer would I be if I let a little thing like death stop my campaign?

Oh, and I'd probably spend my last moments thinking about something awesome to say for my final words.

You are a true Patriot, Dark_Stryke. A Gamer Deity amoung mere Gamer Mortals. Indeed, why would you let a little bump in the road like death stop you from running your epic campaign? Well said, well said indeed.

Meh.  Great last words are overrated.  What you really wanna strive for, IMO, is creating an uncomfortable mystery.  Point to your nearest loved one and say something like 'He told me you did it.  I didn't want to believe it, but I always knew.  I've finally found the ability to come to terms with what you've done to me and the rest and I feel I can - at this final moment - forgive you for it.  I shan't forget - if it's possible to remember still when I get to wherever it is I'm going.  Still, you needn't worry about me.  You still have living ghosts to face (dramatically, slowly point around the room - linger just a second longer on the last person than the rest).'  And then die.  Right on cue or else it'll really suck.  Or not.  Actually, don't die right then.  Just sort of sit there and look at that person right in the eyes for a while.  Let the discomfort settle in and then, maybe, shuffle on.

So the majority consensus is abandon all morals you have held throught your life and/or put yourself in a puddle and slowly bleed to death. (Shooting yourself could well not work instantly, you could easily cling to life for several hours untill the apointed time arrives).

Assault, Murder, Theft, and Debauchery. Hooray going out with dignity...

Hrm... well, you can't be talking about me, as I've always been of the mind that there's a time and place for debauchery, just never had the opportunity really.  I mean, sure, I live a fairly sedate and "normal" life, but that's more because of circumstances and opportunity, and not because I make any claims of morality1.

That is to say, as long as you're responsible in how you go about it, I see nothing morally wrong with hedonism.  The danger of giving into hedonistic impulses is the alure to be irresponsible about it, not in pursuing pleasure itself.

-------
1Well, okay, I return shopping carts to the designated areas because I think it's the right thing to do and look down on those that leave them in parking spots, but that's about it.

If your actions are not violations of your personal morals, so be it. You still fall under the titles of theft and hedonsism. (Borrowing large sums of money with no intention of ever repaying is theft. So says I.)

Ok, you got me with the theft bit1, but your main claim that I objected to was "abandon all morals you have held throught your life", and only a few of my morals center around financial obligations and property rights.

------
1Though honestly, given how low my single card maxes out, they wouldn't even notice.  At my worst I'm well within their "acceptable losses" category, and I'm pretty sure I'd still be a net gain in their books.  Now, New Mexico Student Loans2 would be hit a lot harder then the credit card company, but there's not a whole lot I could do about that before I graduate and, ya know, get over the poverty line.
2And, as a bit of trivia, I know for a fact that debt is non-transferable.  No worries about my family being required to pay off my student loans.

I spend the first 23 hours playing Skies of Arcadia and watching Gurren Lagann while surrounded by cats, then kill myself about 5 minutes ahead of schedule by jumping out of a plane above a child's birthday party (calculating inertia and all that) dressed as the guy from Yo Gabba Gabba.

Now, I wouldn't do anything that would get me killed, because for all I know the thing I do that kills me IS the thing that's supposed to kill me in 24 hours.

Like if I say "Screw fate, I'm going out on my own terms!" and leap into traffic, what if I don't die instantly, but instead spend several hours in hospital, dying exactly 24 hours after my death sentence was issued?

No, I'm making the universe do a little work to kill me. If I sit at home and play D&D with my friends, then it's gotta be something weird that makes me go, like a jet crashing into my building, or some bizarre medical condition that will leave the guys doing my autopsy report absolutely flabbergasted.

I'd try set my affairs in order (last will and testament, etc) and then have fun, without dragging down anyone with me or causing undue trouble for others.

Of course, I'd try and figure out a way to protect myself from dying for when the time comes. I'm a gamer, I can find a way to cheat death, right?

Maybe Death'll hand you a twenty-sided and ask you for one final Death Saving Throw? 10 or higher, else you fail. For Ever.

I'd spend my last twenty-three hours loading my d20 so that is always, without fail, landed on 20. But you're right, Death would probably cheat anyway, rending all my work worthless and without point. {sigh}
