Red and Gold are the colours I see


Born of two mothers, I bring honour to both


I breathe in your air, but out I do not


What am I?


 


 


Show me mercy: I am the keeper of time


Show me compassion: I bring the rain


Show me kindness: I bring the sun


Who am I?


 


 


I am the beginning, I am the end


I start below, and finish above


I am as big as mountains and as small as sand


I offer you food, yet you stand on my face

The third is Earth/Ground.  But the first two are not related to the third or each other.  But they are D&D specific.  pull out your PH.

Well, from a completely-scientifically-inaccurate perspective, the sky/wind "holds" the sun up in the sky, which is how you tell time without a watch.  On a more general idea you can tell where you are in the year by the weather and seasons, and all that good jazz.

But water works too.


But then, when it comes to riddles I tend to be pretty lax.  Language is metaphorical and flexible enough that it's really quite difficult to make only one answer make sense.

Water clocks use water to keep time, but the water itself doesn't. Water is rain, but does not make it. Hydrogen only makes up a small percentage of water's mass. Roughly 89% of the mass is oxygen, which is missing from the sun (though some cultures used to believe that the sun rose up from the ocean at dawn, that is true). So I don't think it could be water.

Edit: The first one I think are the Dragonborn. Their eyes only come in red and gold, they are driven to and by honor, they breathe in air and out energy, the two mothers I think means Bahamut and Tiamat.

You nailed it!


The first was Dragonborn.  The two mothers I was thinking of were Humanoids and Dragons.   And they breathe out dragonbreath.  sometimes.  couldn't be too specific.


The second was Pelor.  Not really a riddle so much as a description.  Not that I have a lot to go on.


The third was Earth, Dirt or Ground, and was obvious to most.


I think the first two are a little too difficult for most I may have to add a few more clues.

I thought they took humans of of the mix when they brought the Dragonborn over to 4E from 3.5.
