But if he took it to the shop and told them "I hear a strange noise whenever I do burnouts", it would be perfectly reasonable to expect them to do burnouts with the car in order to begin their diagnosis. I mean, if someone asks me to fix their computer problem and they tell me "I get an error whenever I try to play Ace Combat" the first thing I'd do would be to fire up Ace Combat to see the error.

In my defense, I was like the slowly-boiling frog. The worsening was so gradual that it never really clicked as a problem. It wasn't until it was fixed that I noticed how much I'd been fighting it.

If the car was fixed and drove fine, I dont see a problem. Its a Camaro, of course theyre gonna take it for a test drive, Its a Camaro, of course theyre gonna squeal some tires!

In fact, it doesn't say they broke the car at all. It says it was broken by another repair shop before he took it to them.

You can assume that they broke the car, and that's why they bought it from him, but it would just be an assumption.

If someone had done that to my Firebird I would have killed them.
You don't dare drive the wheels off of someone else's vehicle without their permission.
Also, whatever the problem was? It could have been something as innocous as a misfire at higher rpms. Like a bad spark plug, plug wire, or crank position sensor. That's not something you have to murder a clutch for.

Even if it was something in the driveline like a bad U-joint or transmission/engine mount. That's something again you don't have to beat the tar out of the clutch over.

They said "make him pay for a new clutch". That implies it wasn't broken before hand. Pretty obviously.

The mechanics just wanted a cheap thrill joy ride and got caught.
