In fairness to the developers, they often often have to include things that count as "hacks" for the mods to use.  This is especially true of MMOs. The OP made me think of this article from Cracked*.  I especially like the section about Batman. * Cracked often has articles that contain naughty language.  According to the MPAA, naughty language will rate only a PG-13 rating (at worst), unless it involves both sex and teens.
