| #1EscherEnigmaOct 15, 2010 13:41:48 | ... wait... so federal employees1 can now get health insurance for their pets, but not for their same-sex partner? /froth [link] ________ 1Which I hope to be in a couple of months. |
| #2boraxeOct 15, 2010 14:53:00 | Could be worse. If America ever elects a Tea Partisan as president gays will be among those hunted for sport. |
| #3scypioOct 15, 2010 15:02:07 | I'm pretty sure pet health insurance is worthless if that's any consolation. We have several pets and looked into it. Its not nearly as good as human health insurance so its hard to compare them. |
| #4Robin_HoodlumOct 15, 2010 16:34:10 | That's ridiculous. But gov't workers will probably end up with a better healthplan than the mess that the masses are allowed to have... |
| #5The_SilverswordOct 16, 2010 4:03:22 | Im not sure i follow, why is this thread called /headdesk? oh, OHHHHHH! I get it now, nevermind. Are we even allowed to talk about this? Im not allowed to talk about porn, so I can only assume that marriage is out too. And its politics. |
| #6pluisjenOct 16, 2010 4:41:08 | I could say something about religious nutjobs here, but it would only be kindling ![]() I feel for you Escher, that really sucks ![]() |
| #7malikluciusOct 16, 2010 5:13:43 | What if you called your SO "My Pet"? Honestly? I think you could potentially get away with it- if, say, the couple in question were living a dedicated Dom/Sub lifestyle, then sure Why shouldn't you qualify for pet insurance? Though, as stated, it's not very good insurance, so there'd probably be a better option anyway. |
| #8jesse.two.coinsOct 18, 2010 8:04:43 | What if you called your SO "My Pet"? what does SO stand for? |
| #9Robin_HoodlumOct 18, 2010 8:06:25 | Significant Other... the boy/girl friend... |
| #10jesse.two.coinsOct 18, 2010 8:08:40 | ohhh neat lol I'll start using that |
| #11pluisjenOct 18, 2010 8:16:10 | Don't forget to tell your friends what it means, considering apparently none of them use it either. |
| #12jesse.two.coinsOct 18, 2010 8:21:55 | should I use it as a term of endearment or is it like a paperwork term? |
| #13pluisjenOct 18, 2010 8:39:46 | I think it's used as a gender neutral term, kinda like "partner". Except it refers to a love relationship, not a business relationship like partner sometimes does. I think it usually implies some level of permanence as well (ie; someone you are dating doesn't count). |
| #14jesse.two.coinsOct 18, 2010 8:41:17 | alright then yes lol I'll use it :D |
| #15EscherEnigmaOct 18, 2010 10:54:09 | what does SO stand for? Significant Other and/or Sex Object. |
| #16jesse.two.coinsOct 18, 2010 11:41:40 | bahaha which one do you use it for? |
| #17ADHadhOct 18, 2010 13:19:26 | bahaha which one do you use it for? Probably depends on mood and/or sobriety. ;) |
| #18pigknightOct 18, 2010 18:15:04 | How old is Jesse anyway? 14? |
| #19Robin_HoodlumOct 18, 2010 18:51:25 |
I think he said he was 18... But you know how interent people lie... "I'm a voluptuous 20 year old, sexy woman with long legs, big breasts, and beckoning hips." And you couldn't prove I'm not! ![]() |
| #20pigknightOct 18, 2010 19:18:27 |
Cyberz plox? ![]() |
| #21williamhm75Oct 18, 2010 21:34:22 |
that was just childish. And Escher that sucks, and yes government health care is better than getting raped by insurance companies. We so need socialized medicine. |
| #22Robin_HoodlumOct 18, 2010 21:35:23 | We so need socialized medicine. NOT! |
| #23williamhm75Oct 18, 2010 21:37:04 | We so need socialized medicine. We are the only first world country not on some form of socialized medicine. Insurance companies charge a fortune for sub par services. |
| #24Robin_HoodlumOct 18, 2010 21:40:53 | We so need socialized medicine. And you think a bloated government bureaucracy that cares more for the system than for the patient will be any better? If it is so good, then why is Britain changing back? Why do Canadiens come here for procedures? Why don't people go to Cuba for procedures? LOL We are not going to convince each other... so let's just agree to disagree... since we have been unnaturally getting along... |
| #25williamhm75Oct 18, 2010 22:17:38 | We so need socialized medicine. so the rich should get good health care and everyone else gets nothing yeah thats equality. |
| #26Robin_HoodlumOct 18, 2010 22:29:00 |
You are out of your mind. You must have no idea how ridiculous and foolish you look. |
| #27Robin_HoodlumOct 18, 2010 22:31:26 |
What are you talking about? I'm not rich and I always got the care I wanted/needed. So you think they turn away people from the emergency room because they are poor? Yeah, that happens all the time... ![]() |
| #28Robin_HoodlumOct 18, 2010 23:00:34 |
Pot calling the kettle... |
| #29EscherEnigmaOct 18, 2010 23:09:55 | I don't know, you sound like you have permanent PMS. Pretty Mean Streak? So you think they turn away people from the emergency room because they are poor? And where do you think the money for those emergency room services comes from? |
| #30pluisjenOct 19, 2010 1:08:13 | So you think they turn away people from the emergency room because they are poor? Shh, he's trying to ignore that. |
| #31zombie_babiesOct 19, 2010 9:30:12 | I think he said he was 18... Who would want to? ![]() |
| #32boraxeOct 19, 2010 9:31:55 | If it is so good, then why is Britain changing back? They're not. Why do Canadiens come here for procedures? For the most part we don't. Some people go to the US for things like MRI because with 10 times the population there are 10 times the number of MRI machines and thus it can sometimes speed up the wait time for non-urgent cases. Urgent cases are always given priority. I need to get an ultrasound done on my ankle to find it if I tore a muscle and I can get it done any time, any day, on my lunch hour, for no cost. Ditto the Xrays I had done a couple months back on my messed-up knee. I can see my doctor in a couple days for non-urgent visits, as early as today for something serious. Best part is I don't get billed for doctor visits, tests, procedures, materials, or even surgery. A few years back they did a big "The Greatest Canadian" poll. You know who won? The guy who created our socialized medicine system. We Canadians (note the spelling, please) wouldn't trade our healthcare system for anything. Why don't people go to Cuba for procedures? Ban on travel to Cuba. Look man, if you are happy paying through the nose to get even basic healthcare then that's great for you, but there's no reason to lie about the system in other countries. If one's position is strong enough one should not need to bolster said position with untruths. |
| #33ADHadhOct 19, 2010 14:37:00 |
Goldy, do you have proof of what are you telling us about? Shouldn't you provide it instead of getting into insult-flinging? RH, do you think this doesn't make you look not only ridiculous and foolish, but also very much like a strawman from a democratic/liberal cartoon? You know, the type that replies to statements of facts and/or arguments with anger or insults? You two disgust me. |
| #34williamhm75Oct 19, 2010 15:23:05 |
Emergency rooms only go so far my parents have health insurance and my dads heart medicine still costs over 200 dollars THATS NOT RIGHT. Health care companies need to be reined in or destroyed and taken over by the government I dont trust private industries to run health care. I trust them about as far as I could throw them they dont care about people only profit. They limit the drugs you can take due to cost, if a procedure is too costly or is experimental they deny you the right to have it done. The government needs to step in. |
| #35pluisjenOct 19, 2010 16:02:30 | hey limit the drugs you can take due to cost, if a procedure is too costly or is experimental they deny you the right to have it done. Unfortunately the government will also deny you drugs and procedures that are experimental, and will usually deny you expensive medicine if cheaper ones are available, so it won't fix everything. It'll fix much, though. |
| #36williamhm75Oct 19, 2010 16:03:59 | hey limit the drugs you can take due to cost, if a procedure is too costly or is experimental they deny you the right to have it done. government would be less likely to deny someone care than a corporation. |
| #37Robin_HoodlumOct 19, 2010 16:05:32 |
So? |
| #38Robin_HoodlumOct 19, 2010 16:06:58 | hey limit the drugs you can take due to cost, if a procedure is too costly or is experimental they deny you the right to have it done. Prove it. And I don't think that is accurate. |
| #39pluisjenOct 19, 2010 16:23:47 | If he can name just one situation wherein someone would be denied care, despite care being available, then it's proved because a government run system always gives care if available. There are no situations where, if there's a cure, you are denied it. The only place where government health care doesn't help you, is if the only available cures aren't proven to work. Unless you can prove that a guy with no money can get better care then that from a corporation, of course? |
| #40Robin_HoodlumOct 19, 2010 16:43:56 |
Why should I pay for a guy with no money? His healthcare is paid with my tax money, yet he doesn't pay taxes... how is that fair? Boy, you guys sure put a lot of faith and trust in the gov't... but I would expect that from socialists. See, problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money... |
| #41pluisjenOct 19, 2010 16:47:45 | I think people that can put in an honest day's work, but don't, should be rounded up and shot in the head. This includes all those people that already have enough money to never work another day again. But I've no problem supplying for people that need care but can't afford it because companies choose to pay them pennies for long days of work. How is if fair that someone works 8 hours a day, and then one day he gets hit by a car and breaks a leg, and he can't afford his treatment, so he loses his job, and then he can spend the rest of his life on the streets with only one leg? Honestly, for someone who cares so much for his country, you seem to really care little for the people in it, whereas I, for all that I dislike people and countries in general, seem to care for people a whole lot more. |
| #42Robin_HoodlumOct 19, 2010 16:50:09 | Where the hell do you live? People get paid accordingly. If you don't like your pay, find another job. Sheesh, you make it sound like businesses are nothing more than slave-owners that pay their employees a mere pittance. |
| #43pluisjenOct 19, 2010 16:52:59 | There's plenty of people that are paid little more then pittance. There's always a group of people that can't afford health care. Minimum wage jobs aren't going to net you the kind of money you need to pay medical bills. And not everyone can get a job that pays more then minimum wage. And if you up the minimum wages, the prices for everything go up as well, so that group of people who can't afford healthcare will always remain. |
| #44Robin_HoodlumOct 19, 2010 16:55:26 | There's plenty of people that are paid little more then pittance. There's always a group of people that can't afford health care. Minimum wage jobs aren't going to net you the kind of money you need to pay medical bills. And not everyone can get a job that pays more then minimum wage. Then find a better job. It is NOT the govt's job to provide you with employment. I bet you would like for the gov't to take care of you, wouldn't you? That's disgusting. |
| #45pluisjenOct 19, 2010 16:57:54 | It should be fairly easy to grasp that: 1. There will always be minimum wage jobs 2. There will always be people doing minimum wage jobs 3. "Get another job" might solve the problem for person A, but only by making it person B's problem. If you consider that a solution... I can't see how you can support your country since you obviously don't care about it's occupants. |
| #46Robin_HoodlumOct 19, 2010 17:07:39 |
I care enough not to subject them to the mess that's known as Socialism. And you obviously know nothing about economics and how it works... but I would expect that from a socialist... |
