| #1zombie_babiesMay 21, 2009 14:18:52 | Ok, it's dead an' I'm bored an' my sleep dep has led me to this. I thought up a new game. Don't get all excited, it's likely to be a dud. I believe it's probably gonna ask too much of the people playin' it. It's my hope, though, that some of our more creative OTTers will pop in and give it a go. ;) The rules are simple enough. I'm gonna leave a character name at the end of this 'ere post. What you, dear OTTer, need to do is come up with a paragraph describing one (or more) of several options: the character's appearance, a bit o' backstory, his/her most recent exploits, a funny tavern scene, etc. Uhh ... didn't plan on addin' "etc". Oh well. If you opt for this choice, try and keep it similar to the others suggested, k? No need to be funny. No need to be dark. No need to be goody-goody. Just write what comes to mind when you see the name. If it's funny, cool. Dark? Ok. You get the picture. In the interest of keepin' things movin', I do ask that you refrain from posting giant walls o' text. Nobody reads those anyway. ;) I also must request ... nay, demand that you leave a creative name at the end of your post for the next person to use. No dull stuff, please. Make it interesting. Can't think one up? Just use the name of a character you're playin' or have played in the past. So ... uhh ... here we go? I'll try to make it easy (I do suck at names, though. :P) ... Falryn Dreadoak |
| #2archyneirMay 21, 2009 14:25:54 | Falryn Dreadoak This moody, reclusive Gnome is well practiced in the Feyarts of stealth, curses and seasonal damage. With a dark shadow cast upon his face, and a mad twinkle in his gnomish eyes, he resonates an aura steeped in the mysterious. Elokiir Imythese |
| #3terronusMay 21, 2009 14:39:02 | Elokiir Imythese The human leader of an auran druidic sect seated deep within the Byeshk Mountains, Imythese rarely leaves his(?) favored avian form, a Roc (ok, so I'm a 3.5er), scouring the mountain peaks for signs of evil outsiders and aberrations, as well as travelers... hindering those that might pose a threat and guiding those that might be welcomed. Kain "the Hammer" Gravenmoore |
| #4ellorinMay 21, 2009 14:43:36 | Kain the Hammer Gravenmoore is an experienced halfling barbarian from the Chekki tribe. He never intended to be an adventurer and hoped for a life more or less the same as his father's and grandfather's, hunting game and selling their pelts. As might be expected, things turned out quite differently. He was befriended or so he thought by a trio of merry humans in a bar the coastal city of Gela. He drank an astonding amount of mead, not aware that his companions were trying to get him dead drunk. When he woke up he was in chains, sailing the Middle Sea on a slaver ship. After a nightmarish voyage where almost half of the slaves died he was sold to an ambitious summoner in the slavemarket of Jhoboul, Keltus Drax. Drax was experimenting in bounding devils into humanoids' bodies as part of his master plot. Lillte did he know of Kain's indomitable spirit-a halfling capable of resisting the ritual? Preposterous! Especially one with a rage capable of ripping his chains off the walls and using them as weapons. After killing the nefarious mage Kain Gravenmoore decided to make the slavers pay. It wasn't long until he found a Giant lizard mount and a suitable hammer, took on a small group of slavers , freed the slaves and recruiting most of the warriors to his causes. Indeed, Kain the Hammer is a name of terror in Jhoboul-there are claims that he's 3 meters tall and drinks the blood of his enemies. Kain laughs, enjoying his enemies' fear and the company of his new clan-Kaffer Letti, the Chain Shatterers. Hope it did the trick. Next name: Lerromannek Vut. |
| #5zombie_babiesMay 21, 2009 15:09:01 | Lerromannek Vut was last seen somewhere near the peak of Mount Stranmore in battle with the Elder Wyrm Doerantheses. Eye witness accounts tell a tale of dragon fire and awesome Arcane might. Vut was (is?) an Archmage of no small talent. It's been said that he headed to Stranmore seeking revenge upon the fiends that murdered his family. Once he eradicated every member of Stranmore, he decided to go and fight this dragon he'd heard about. It's not clear whether or not the dragon had anything to do with the vile crimes committed against his family, but it is a well known fact that the citizens of Stranmore had never heard of Vut nor had they any knowledge of his family. It's also known that Vut didn't have a family. He killed them all himself. All trace of him has seemed to have vanished in a great gout of dragon breath. The last words heard uttered by this mad mage were "I'll find the scone! I will find it!!". The exact meaning of these words - and the status of Vut himself - remain a mystery. Valdren "The Mad Hatter" Peryn |
| #6s-marrowMay 21, 2009 15:17:38 | A crazed elven warlord feared far and wide, Valdren received the nickname "The Mad Hatter" from the orc skin covering sewn over his helm, hewn from the skullcap of a defeated enemy general with Valdren's falchion. Meretos Fisk |
| #7terronusMay 21, 2009 17:39:27 | Nice job on Kain, Ellorin. Its cool to see what others do when they take the reins, and I liked the story.Meretos Fisk Meretos Fisk became an artificer's apprentice at a very young age. Showing great talent, he was allotted both time and resources to craft within his teacher's workshop. Still, talent cannot always compensate for experience, and the young Fisk lost his crafting arm in an alchemical accident. This was no damper to his spirit, however, and it was not long before he replaced it with clockwork parts and imbued magic. Noting how the wound might have reduced him to a life of unhappiness, Meretos has since spent his time aiding those that cannot afford, or do not have access to, the restorative magics of clerics or druids. Though just a simple dwarf, the people that have been helped by Fisk liken him to the fey spirits of the Holidays of Giving for his generous work. "Bloody" Lei Di'Yanni |
| #8s-marrowMay 21, 2009 17:47:04 | That is great. Mind if I snag your background? "Bloody" Lei Di'Yanni is an uncharacteristically clumsy doppelganger fighter who carries out rather unorthodox assassination jobs for his lord. After all, if you've managed to bluff your way into the same household of your target and aren't confident enough to sneak in an unnoticed dagger thrust, you might as well go with a heavy flail to the face and rely on the strength of your legs and shape-changing abilities to escape the following mess. While his gruesome methods have earned Lei his dubious title, Lei views himself as a noble soul who merely carries out the wishes of his master to his best ability. Trian the Sad |
| #9owls_and_more_owlsMay 21, 2009 18:04:11 | Trian The sad is a particularly skilled dwarven blacksmith in a large Dwarf settlement. He earned his nickname from his overall demeanor. He is never satisfied with hos work and never says good things about any of his creations, even though they are very high quality goods. On his time off, he drinks away at the local tavern, almost single handedly keeping the place in buisness. Because of his rigorous "training," he can drink almost anyone under the table, though he would never boast about it. Trian's other nickname is "Trian, the worst salesperson ever." Lady Mirapesh Razormane, Knight Errant |
| #10terronusMay 21, 2009 20:49:26 | That is great. Mind if I snag your background Not sure if you meant the background you were going to create, or the one for your character! Either way, you are welcome to them. ![]() Also, need more contributors! I like this thread-game. |
| #11cherubaddonMay 22, 2009 6:49:18 | Lady Mirapesh Razormane, Knight Errant A female warrior from the Razormane hobgoblin clan, Mirapesh soon knew that the eternal life of raiding, looting, brutal militarism and constant warfare was not for her. If she was to die, her cause would be righteous. So, she set out to join the paladins of Heironeous. Alignment restrictions being what they are, the paladins never even tried her, reasoning nothing good was to come from hobgoblin stock anyway. So, she took what little gold she had, and bought a horse, a sword and a mail hauberk, and set out to become a freelance paladin. Making up for lacking divine aid with extensive martial training, she has saved countless villages from wandering monsters and has become something of a hero to the townspeople of the border regions. Rabalias Eliyochoon |
| #12zombie_babiesMay 22, 2009 8:24:37 | Rabalias Eliyochoon stood in the tavern door with the sun behind him. The eery glow forced those few patrons remaining to see him - at first - as a tall and quite thin shadow. His horns reflected a point of light each at the tip and his large tail swayed slowly behind him causing his long cloak to rustle. If that wasn't enough for these simple folk to take in, Rabalias was also holding a curved black blade with red runes running from handguard to tip. The runes glowed and crackled menacingly - as did his pupil-less eyes. "I'm here seeking Beryn the Bold", the Tiefling said coolly. At this, a man stood toward the back of the room. Light in his face, he squinted at Eliyochoon and stated simply "Alright then. If now be the time, let's dally not" and began advancing upon the Warlock. Were the men still seated expecting a fight, they were about to be terribly let down. As Beryn walked toward this mysterious figure, he was struck hard in the face by some sort of Eldritch blast. Beryn quickly drew his hammer, but his fate was sealed. The Tiefling was already advancing upon him and thrust his terrible blade into Beryn's chest. As he pushed the corpse from his blade, Rabalias muttered "That's two. Three more and I'll be free." He calmly ordered a whiskey from the bartender who wisely complied - hands shaking in panic the entire time. "You wouldn't happen to know where I could find a man named 'Crossbow Pete', would you?" Beryn the Bold |
| #13ellorinMay 22, 2009 8:45:11 | Beryn the Bold was one of the leaders of the revolution against the tyrannical King Lokas. A heavier built than most half-elf rogue, Beryn was extremely popular to his followers and the peasantfolk, especially after dueling with and defeating the brutish captain of the guard, Sir Ruven Halanik. That was when King Lokas captured the legendary tiefling warlock Rabalias Eliyochoon's family and forced him to take out the leaders of the revolution, a task in which the latter succeeded. Still, death was only the beginning for Beryn. He found himself risen as an udead, a spectre. Beryn rallied the peasants and his remaining allies while Lokas's popularity was at its loest ebb, slipped through the Palace Guard during the general haos and killed King Lokas. His last action on this plane was declaring the foundation of the Republic. Who raised Beryn and what his goals were are still a mystery. Gordaleth |
| #14ADHadhMay 22, 2009 9:04:28 | Gordaleth, also known as Blackscale King, was a ruthless, highly competent lizardman God-King. Under his rule nearly all halflings were driven away from the swamps and bullywugs gone nearly extinct. Gordaleth has managed to unify many other tribes and lead them to conquest nearby human and elven realms. To make his story even more horrifying, he seemed to command undead as well as his own kin. It was later revealed that he was in fact advised by a hobgoblin cabal of Orcus. Or maybe not as much advised as steered, but that's a little known fact, especially among lizardmen. Sylvaea "Elfstar" Astranea |
| #15dirtyfrankMay 22, 2009 11:14:39 | Sylvaea "Elfstar" Astranea, is a half-elf by birth. Her human mother gave her a name that would be a reminder of Sylvaea's elven father and of Sylvaea's birth heritage. In recent years she has gained some wonder lust. She wishes to start traveling the world for her father, she'd never known, and the elven side of her heritage that she is yet to experience. Sylvaea has been learning elven from a local college so that when she finally meets her father for the first time, she can speak to him with his native tongue. She is nearly ready to set out in search of her father, but before she sets out she needs to make sure which friends are for sure going with her on this adventure. Once they've figured that out she, along with her friends, need to make sure that they have enough resources to last them the trip. Sylvaea can't hardly wait to be off on an adventure she's been dreaming about since she was a child. Dokhowlyoven Illiville Rastakorg ni Tal-Rahee a Yoricshire |
| #16terronusMay 22, 2009 12:32:42 | Dokhowlyoven Illiville Rastakorg ni Tal-Rahee a Yoricshire When the wandering bard Bently joined the Meand'ring Troupe as a performer and met the fair dancer Delorah, he knew it was love at first sight. The lady was resistant at first, but one day found herself wooed by the charismatic bard. As the Troupe performed--traveling from the halls of Dwarven kings, to the deep forests of the wood elves, to the sprawling fey-cities of the gnomes-- the two lovers consummated their relationship wherever they went. It was bitter-sweet for Delorah when her lover fell ill and died-- only days after the birth of her daughter. Stricken with grief, she chose to honor Bently in the best way she knew how, by naming her after all the possible places she might have been conceived! Dokhowlyoven Illiville Rastakorg ni Tal-Rahee a Yoricshire, having long outlived both her mother and father, is a traveling bard herself, and a storyteller of some merit. When she is not performing, she is often seeking treasure and fame with adventurers. Tallitha "Ghost" Dorian |
| #17mock26May 22, 2009 12:51:50 | Tallitha "Ghost" Dorian Tallitha "Fireheart" Dorian was born on the Plains of Fire and was trained from birth to be a warrior. All of the seers foretold of the glory and fame that she would bring to her tribe. By the time she was 6 she was better than all of the children her age. By the time she was 8 she was better than all of the children, including those years older than she was. By the time she was 14 she was better than even the most experienced warriors in the tribe. After years of intense training she was ready to leave the tribe and face the world. Sadly, the stirrup on her horse was frayed and it snapped while she was mounting the horse. She fell, struck her head on a rock, and was killed instantly. Since that day Tallitha "Ghost" Dorian has roamed the Plains of Fire warning travellers and future generations of warriors to check their stirrups before mounting their horses. ======================================== Lord Caldwin "Mugthump" Squernt |

Eventually his Dwarven nature took over and he began crushing skulls and mugs at the local tavern earning a proper dwarven nickname, Mugthump. Cindy Skipntip |
| #19dirtyfrankMay 22, 2009 13:38:22 | Cindy Skipntip, though his name might suggest it, he neither skips nor does services that warrant tips. He is out to get back his mom and pop that gave him his name before leaving him with a relative while still at a young age. Cindy has gotten quite strong and fierce throughout his childhood for he has had to endure much jokes about his feminine name that his parents gave him. He can't wait until the day he finds his parents so that he can pay them back for the hell his name, that they gave him, has given him. Irthos Sjach |
| #20ForgemberMay 22, 2009 13:45:56 | Irthos Sjach Born of the brutal **** of his human mother by his Orcish father, Irthos chose a last name no normal being could pronounce, not even he could form the sound of it. He traveled the lands in search of a wise mystic to learn the secrets of time travel so he could travel back in time and kill his brutish father, thus erasing himself from time. Stalren Oronsphere |
| #21s-marrowMay 22, 2009 14:15:26 | Stalren Oronsphere is a prominent historian and researcher of ancient ruins. The half-orc ranger often joins groups of treasure hunting adventurers to provide himself with protection during his research of ruins. However, he generally travels under a false name to avoid the enemies he has created in his line of work due to his short temper when dealing with those who would thoughtlessly deface valuable artifacts in their treasure hunting zeal. With his trusty double warpicks, Stalren has cracked open just as many villainous skulls as he has ancient tomb doors. Pirra Twobanks |
| #22ADHadhMay 22, 2009 15:00:25 | At first glance Pirra Twobanks looks just like another halfling matron and tavern owner. She always smiles when she sees young adventurers and it is said that some of their stories bring tears to her eyes. Little do people know that Pirra has a past of swashbuckling adventuring in the northern regions and children there love to listen to stories about a daring rogue named Twobanks. Oreyel Kninjes |

| #25ADHadhMay 22, 2009 15:22:40 | Griff Stonewall spat in distaste. That mercenary is going to teach him about carpentry? The Carpenters and Woodworkers Guildmaster of Hammerfast? And he's an elfie-boy! What a half-elf can teach a dwarf craftsman... Griff couldn't believe his eyes. That half-elf had brilliant ideas. With his adjustments the palisade will certainly not fall under the goblin attacks. Griff spat again. Dima Teufelmann |
| #26KillerGMMay 23, 2009 4:23:23 | Dima Teufelmann is a short, stocky halfing, always ready with a quick smile and a knowing wink. He works the bar at whatever local tavern hasn't thrown him out yet. He knows the secret behind most of the people in town, but he collects it more out of idle curiosity than malicious intent. People trust him, because they know he won't sell them out for money - just a better secret. Light Angelmourner |
| #27Mad_JackMay 23, 2009 5:34:10 | EDIT: Eek, ninja'd... Dima Teufelmann The well-dressed nobleman worried distractedly about the upcoming party at the Duchess' summer estate as he absent-mindedly watched his impatient daughter wander about the front of the fat merchant's shop, nattering on about people beneath his notice. Reaching into his purse, he dropped two coins onto the counter while rolling his eyes at whatever his darling-yet-empty-headed daughter had just said. He wondered if it was too early to marry her off to another family of good standing. Perhaps on the other sdie of the kingdom. Dima quickly slipped the gold coin into the cuff of his sleeve and just as quickly produced a silver, saying, "Your pardon, milord, but that was two gold... You've given me a gold and a silver." "I did? Oh, yes, it seems I have. My apologies, good sir." "Oh, think nothing of it, milord - this beastly heat is the bane of us all. Good day to you milord." As the nobleman left the shop, Dima produced the gold coin from between his fingers with a flourish and dropped it into the metal box under the counter. Sighing, he lowered his considerable girth onto the stool beside him and surveyed the racks and shelves of jewelry, trinkets, and the occasional magical item that had been his stock in trade for the last eight years. He mopped dispiritedly at his face with an embroidered handkerchief and thought, "Ah, how far I have fallen since I left the North..." Hours later, having closed his shop for the night, Dima lumbered off down the side alley, puffing and blowing as he pushed his enormous bulk forward. The chubby merchant and occasional fencer of purloined magical trinkets had barely gotten more than halfway to his quarters when a cloaked figure stepped forth from the shadows and graced him with a nasty smile - the man's teeth were extremely crooked and several were missing. "Jacken. How...interesting...to see you again..." (I could have sworn I'd arranged to have you arrested, the thought continued unspoken in his head.) "Dima, my good friend. You owe my associates a great deal of money for that false amulet you sold them. I've come to collect. The money or your head, either one is fine by me." "Now, now, Jacken, no need to get testy with me. I was just going to come see your employers in the morning with the money - in fact I have it with me right now if you'd like it. Here..." With a shocking dexterity for a man of his immense size, Dima spun on one foot and slammed his boot into the side of his "good friend" Jacken's skull. Jacken never saw the blade that killed him, a blade that appeared instantly in Dima's hand only to disappear again just as quickly. Back in his shop, Dima quickly stuffed as many of the magical items into his old Neverfull Bag as he could manage in the short time he allowed himself. He'd have to leave town, of course. Word might get out that Dima Silverfingers, proprietor of the Inconsequential Essentials trinket shop, had once been (some eight years earlier) one Dima Teufelmann, master thief and hired killer for the infamous Twilight Circus. Perhaps it's time to head back to the North again, he thought, Surely the magistrates have better things to do than arrest me for something that old, and a frame-up as well.. Although he'd always been a bit on the pudgy side, an unusual trait for a thief of his caliber, he'd put on a great deal of weight in the past eight years. The difficult two-month journey would take off a great deal of the weight he'd acquired, but perhaps not enough that he would once again be recognizeable as the man the Guards had been bribed to kill on sight. At least, not until he'd managed to settle the matter that had driven him to the South those eight long years ago... |

It could help us avoid mishaps, like the last one with the Iron Maiden, right Binwin?" "Don't remind me." "I know I'm just an intern, but..." "Yes Al?" "I'd like to know about this Tieflings beliefs." "That's a good point! Mr Blackcloak, will you have any problem working with followers of Avandra and Melora?" "I'm sure Corellon won't mind." On a little side note, I've been giving names of a characters I've created before. It was fun to see a dragonborn fighter become a gnome rogue or a Tiefling wizard getting two different entries ;P Okay, another one: Celtic Avarell |
| #29s-marrowMay 23, 2009 6:57:45 | Some fighters are courageous and valiant leaders. Some are ambitious warriors who view war as a noble art. Some are philosophers seeking to experience the truth of life as balanced on the sword's edge. Celtic Avarell is not one of these fighters. Dispassionate about fighting in general, the human swings his greatsword only because it puts gold in his pocket. There is no flair in the swing of Celtic's blade. He hits things with it, and they generally die. He sees no beauty in the act, reasoning that his skill and fame has only earned him an inevitable bloodstain on the weapon of some "noble warrior." You are no longer welcome among the Hunters' Guild, nor are your skills and services to be paid for within our many realms. Go now, and one day you might rise above this hunt that has consumed you." ... It wasn't so bad, living only off grog. For many, it would slow their senses and blur their judgment. For the huntress Lenusehr Skydoe, it clarified the sea of wandering crowds that were the streets of Sharn. She watched, unwavering, as people stumbled against each other, pickpockets made their marks, and hustlers waitedfor tricks. Faces lit up when meeting old friends, while others scowled at the sight of enemies. Lenusehr was watching for something else, however. The nervous tick that identified her prey; the one thing that she had never before expected to see as a Hunter. Patton had warned her to stop, told her the hunt was over-- a scream rang out from a back alley, and that's when Skydoe saw the hood of a cloak fall, almost imperceptible within the crowds, and she saw her mark. Lord Remus Patton was a lazy charlatan who pretended to run a guild, in order to pocket the profits of his fraud. He was to be exposed by one Budrek Svarthelm. Remus was revealed to be none other than Lester Leakettle, a wanted fugitive known for his theft of the king's quill pen collection, while pretending to be a squire of a famous knight, who was actually a fabrication. At a young age, she knew that the world did not work in her favor, being the only Drow in the village. Her and her parents had fled their subterranean home, driven out as heretics of the spider queen. Her parents were killed by a passing band of raiders, leaking Mikari to fend for herself. She was alone for weeks until she stumbled upon a settlement, half-dead from starvation. The guards outside the town threatened to kill her, and would not let her in, but a passing cleric took pity on her and found a way to sneak her inside the town to receive treatment. The other Villagers never came to accept her as she grew older, but they did manage to muster a begrudging tolerance of her presence. She dressed provocatively and picked fights often, using her whiles to elude trial each time. The only person she ever truly cared for was the cleric who first helped her, who had grown old and sickly over the years. After the illness took the cleric, there was no reason for Mikari to stay anymore. One day while out herding his flock, the village was attacked by a Giant. There were no survivors. Upon his return, Puck was driven nearly mad with rage when he saw the carnage. Tiny body parts strewn everwhere, half-eaten Halflings skewered upon tree branches near a large fire that once was the Village Hall - and worse. He headed straight to the barn he was allowed to sleep in and gathered his meager effects. Some rations, extra clothes and a two-handed sword. With these simple posession, Puck took up the Giant's trail and would encounter people and adventure beyond his wildest imagining. Agrast Argallion |
| #40ellorinMay 26, 2009 10:13:11 | Agrast Argallion was the most pompous commander the Black Forest garrison had ever seen, and a whiner as well, who hated his post and the political circumstances that sent him there. Granted, he was a powerful Goliath Swordsmage, a brave man and a cunning leader. Still, his emphasis on proper greetings and dress code and his attitude towards his subordinates, whom he treated as (vastly) social inferiors were infuriating. Unfortunately, he had no sympathies among his men. When the revolution came, Agrast supported the King, as was his duty, and made a long speech to his men about their duty to their betters, the royal family. The next day he found himself bound on a huge oak, completely naked and painted blue and pink. Klaera Jaerth Shulnamidonnen |

This former lady-in-waiting was exiled from her homeland after an argument with Queen Penelope over the queen's prized hunting hounds turned ugly. Before Klaera left, she convinced the queen's magician (who had long been carrying a torch for the attractive tiefling) to work his magic on Queen Penelope's favorite hound, Baxter, so that she might smuggle him out unobtrusively. Now Klaera and Baxter (disguised as a small grey cat) have taken up residence with distant relatives in far-off Cayrthe. Klaera is taking this opportunity to finally develop her own magical abilities, but is finding that it's hard work. She's heard rumors of a fellow who might know of a ritual with a demon that would make this all much easier... Captain Valeria Caldwell |
| #42Reg06May 26, 2009 14:28:45 | 14. Well, 14 and some change. Captain Valeria Caldwell had led the attack on 14 different pirate fleets, and personally taken down a handful of minor pirate bands. She was good at what she did, damn good. But after years of knowing nothing but the briny smell of the sea, and the metallic smell of blood, she wanted something more. She had heard stories of people across the sea who carried the same animalistic features she did. Maybe she'd go check them out. Sargon the Unquenchable |
| #43Mad_JackMay 26, 2009 20:05:07 | A fire genasi wizard and warlord from the southern shores of Spar, Sargon the Unquenchable was so arrogantly confident in the power of his fire magic that he embarked on a career as a pirate just to be around as much water as possible - he boasted loudly and often about being able to boil the whole ocean to steam, and would capture merfolk and sahauguin strictly for the purpose of burning them to death while strangling them with his fiery hands. He finally found out, however, that he was not quite so unquenchable as he thought when an Elemental Lord of Water commanded a dire kraken to pull him down to the deepest depths of the sea. | #44Johnny_AngelMay 26, 2009 22:58:47 | Bea Lightrunner "All they ever do is talk," she thought. Aeris never really had fit into her Eladrin community. The elders moved too slowly, and they sometimes took centuries to make even the smallest decision. Sure, magic and rituals were great for speaking with animals or spying, but picking up a sword was so much quicker, and it got results. Once again, a tribe of humans had started to cut down the forest. They were like pests. Eladrin were obviously superior to this upstart race in every imaginable way, but the elders continued to be peaceful to the intruders. Their homeland was savaged and taken, yet all the others did was talk. Humans weren't the only problem either. Dwarves weren't much better; orcs were just like humans, but uglier; halflings were annoying; dragonborn falsely believed that they were a superior and noble race; tieflings were merely funny looking humans, and elves... "Bah! Elves are a disgrace to what they once were," thought Aeris; she spoke quietly to herself as she sat in her treetop home, "There is no denying that Eladrin is the superior race. Why should we bow and courtsy to the whims of such inferior little bugs and rodents." With a nearly religious zeal, Aeris embarked on her quest to eliminate the pesky humans plaguing her homeland. What then? Only time would tell. That was nearly ten years ago. Since then Aeris has discovered the idealogy of Asmodeus's religious doctrine and fallen in love with it. Much like her dark master, she was superior to those around her, and she would stop at nothing to take from the world what she believed was rightfully hers in the first place. Aeris became a paladin of Asmodeus. Who to have as her subjects though? Aeris found unlikely subjects in the form of goblins, and she currently travels in the company of a team of four goblins. They accept their place as being beneath her, and yet they have proven to be useful. Aeris and her small band of goblins accept payment from many dark patrons to embark upon quests of slaughter and suffering. You have a problem and you want it gone? Dirty deeds are done dirt cheap. All the while Aeris networks, schemes, and gathers resources which allow her to claim more and more as she goes about such endevours. Aeris: Female Eladrin Paladin of Asmodeus MC into Warlord edit: nevermind, for some reason the whole thread didn't originally show up when I was looking at it. | #45stealthmarmotMay 26, 2009 23:02:15 | Forgotten by her parents, left only with a name, the orphaned half elf Aeris would live and struggle until she found her place as a mercenary. Her wits were sharpened by years of abuse and torment by the human children she grew up with, who saw her as just different enough to loathe, and her heart hardened by a life where she was offered nothing, was given nothing, and had to take to survive. Now a seemingly heartless mercenary, she wanders wherever the money takes her. Strong and sly, knowing how to fight and how to steal, and even how to kill. Yet underneath her calloused shell is a piece of her that wonders why her parents left her, and one statement from the orphan matron leaves her wanderlust forever unsated, the gold an excuse to keep searching. Searching for them, to see why. "Why?" said the orphan matron, "If they cared so little for this child to leave her forever, why would they give her such a beautiful name? Aeris..." Targous Markelund Edit: Whoops, Saw that post on the last page as the last post. Oh well I like the idea too much to delete. |

The innkeeper of the Umberhulk's Tail called out to her patrons in the inn's dinner hall, "We have some unfortunate news. Destor the Magnificent was booked for tonight's entertainment, but is seems he was jailed for drunken wizardry in the marketplace." "However!" The innkeeper shouted over the collective groans and grumblings of the patrons in the hall, "We appear to have a room booked for 'the Great Bard of Legend, Targous Markelund' and bodyguard, 'Rigzag Strongfist.' Are either of them in here and willing to accept the job?" A spry, outlandishly dressed female gnome jumped out of her chair to answer the summons. "Let it never be said that the 'Great Bard', Targous Markelund, ever refused a call to entertain!" she proclaimed, downing the rest of her ale flagon in celebration amidst the cheers of the patrons. "Never 'eard a name like yours for a gnome lady," one drunken patron interjected. The gnome suddenly leaped across the room and onto the barstool next to the drunkard, gripping him by the collar with a surprisingly strong arm. "You've got a problem with Rigzag?" she threatened. "Er, no...wait, you were the bodyguard? Then who 's the bard?" A great shadow loomed across the drunkard as the large hand of a minotaur gently pressed onto Rigzag's shoulder. "Don't cause trouble now, Rigzag, we need the extra gold from this job," the minotaur's harsh voice cut in. The patrons gaped in wonder as Targous Markelund strode across the inn with a magnificent bearing to sit in a chair by the fireplace. Rigzag gave a parting glare to her victim, then quenched the inn's lanterns with a wave of her hand to create a more dramatic lighting. Targous picked up an old harp and strummed a few experimental chords. The patrons leaned in, enchanted as it's gentle melody melded with the minotaur's deep, rich storytelling voice. | #49zombie_babiesMay 27, 2009 9:22:58 | Baliere Mecarthia started his adult life about as easily as one can. Born into the highly respected Noble house of Mecarthia, he was granted full Noble status on the 18th anniversary of the day of his birth. Being used to a life of privilege, it should not be surprising to hear that he soon began to abuse his power. His outrageous antics so enraged the peasants he stood charge over that they eventually revolted. Baliere and his family were spared the blade but sent into exile. His problems really had only begun. As it was seen as his fault for the sudden fall from luxury, Baliere was then expelled by his own family to a solitary existance. The hardships of his new life forced him to learn how to survive at any cost - and sharpened his already self-centered view of the world. Eventually, he became the man you hear ballads about today. Like a flag in the wind, a large and outlandishly colored cloak flapped and coursed up the wall of the corner tower of the town, stopping to unfurl at the top of the tower. "Now now captain you should have known better!" Snapped a voice coming from a figure hidden by the cloak. The moon was full, glowing behind the figure from this view. That was no accident. "Known better than to what you cowardly villain?" The captain heaved, trying to sound strong and intimidating, but instead sounding desperate. "To put such a valuable diamond necklace on display in MY city? You should know better. Yet another precious gem to add to the collection, of 'Diamond' Jack Couran!" The figure grabbed the corner of his cloak and pulled it around him tight, with a flourish he vanished from sight. The next morning the criers were prancing about, almost giddy in their news, as they announced "Diamond Jack foils town guard again! Steals the Maiden's Tear amulet from right under the nose of Captain Richards! Fifth Diamond stolen this year!" It was March. Early March. Orpheus Von Pillenar |
| #52zombie_babiesMay 28, 2009 8:28:11 | Orpheus Von Pillenar, Half-Elven Bard extraordinaire, met his end on the blade of the quite enraged husband of one of his ... a'hem ... fans. Traveling the land saving man and village alike with the famed adventuring group Telyr's Titans, Orpheus made quite a name for himself. His dashing good looks and skill with a lyre didn't cause him any troubles, either. Well, at least not until the day he met a lovely young bar wench named Cindy. At first, she seemed to be much the same as the rest of his many - and varied (oh so, so varied) - conq .... erm ... fans. What poor Orph didn't know (no, he knew she was married) was that this fine young thing and her husband were having a bit of trouble with their married life. See, he was never home - always adventuring, etc - so she used poor Orpheus to get back at him. Well, when Telyr (yes, that Telyr) saw Mr Von Pillenar tupping his wife, the partnership was quickly dissolved with a thrust, a slash, a stab, two more thrusts, a half-dozen or so more slashes, one well placed stab to Orph's ... um ... coinpurse ... and then followed finally with one last strong slash to the neck. Friends always told Orpheus that chasing tail would bring the end to his ... ;) Whelen Simms |
| #53zombie_babiesJun 01, 2009 11:54:17 | Since, apparently, this is an uninspiring name, I'll give a write up and offer a new one: Whelen Simms began his life of killing before he left the womb. According to legend, Whelen's birth was a difficult one. The midwife present had voiced her concern that he may not make it. His umbilical cord was wrapped around his tiny neck and he was stuck in a position that made it impossible to extract him. Whelen apparently heard the midwife's concerns and took it upon himself to solve his problem. He is said to have reached up into his mother's chest and wrenched a rib from her breast - adding to her already immense agony. He used his growing tusks to sharpen the rib into a crude blade and then began to hack at his mother's belly. Savagely, bloodily, he emerged from her shredded abdomen to take his place in this world. He has kept that desperate tenacity close to his cold heart. Today, mere mention of the name Whelen Simms evokes terror in many a region. Talyshia "Stiletto" Or'Endyr |

| #57mock26Jun 02, 2009 0:55:02 | Terronus [size=1] Centuries ago, on the Isle of Goblins, there was born a goblin of exceptional timidity. Wishing his son to rise above his hereditary station of dirt farmer, his father christened him Terronus and sent him to adventuring school. Terronus certainly lived up to his name, quickly rising to the top of his class and terrorizing all of the students. Of course, his entire class consisted of a one-legged simpleton and an armless bookworm. Terronus's career as an adventure was long and prosperous and his name is still sung today. Many a night the goblins gather around the campfire and sing songs of glory, such as "Terronus versus the Sleeping Sheep," "Terronus versus the Empty Cave," "Terronus versus the Orphanage for the Blind," and "Terronus versus the Chicken Eggs." Despite his hundreds of successful, though not very profitable adventures Terronus finally met his match. But, no one ever tells the tale of "Terronus versus the Kitten," for it is a tale of pain, suffering, sorrow, and immense sadness. Princess Kenneth "Redbeard" Hairy-Breeks |

If only his surname hadn't been impeding him...In the end he changed his name to Redbeard. It worked phenomenally. For some time at least. And then came the fateful day...Redbeard and his crew tried to kidnap Princess Murella on her wedding day to Prince Karathon(a.k.a.boredom incarnate). Redbeard cunningly evaded the guards and entered the lady's bedroom. It was empty! There was only the huge multiple-velied(as custom dictated) wedding dress and a note, where Murella stated that she was abandoning the wedding for the man she loved. Outside there were sounds of clinging metal-the guards were coming! Damnation! Kenneth did the only thing that he could:he wore the dress. Then he was led towards the cathedral and the ceremony began. All those veils kept the deception going until it was over. Pelor's priest pronounced Prince and Princess husband and wife, Karathon lifted the veils to kiss the bride and got the shock of his life. Everybody froxze.Kenneth was prepared for it, got out his hand-crossbow and managed to kidnap the prince. She raised me unashamedly, despite the whispers and pitying looks constantly following behind us." "Pity?" you interject. "No one assumes a half-orc child is born out of love." He pauses for a long moment, his eyes sorrowful. "And no one assumes a half-orc man can be loved by anyone but another half-orc." You raise your eyebrows questioningly as a lovely elven woman wraps her arm around his waist and whispers in his ear. "No," Goras tells you, "I'm not paying her." Unfortunately when the gods were on vacation partying over at Sehanine's place, Jozin had a fatal accident at the age of 2. Ya see one day he was walking upon the table in his family's dining room when he lost his balance. He fell of the side and landed in the large basin that had been placed upon the floor. It wouldn't have been much of a problem except that he hit his head on the basin which knocked him out. His battle prowess, ferocity and love of almost suicidal charges was legendary, having wiped out entire legions, purple worms and single-handedly the Sultanate's most desperate gamble, the mind flayer Zorkallon(his rivals claimed that he won because of his lack of brain). He was fortunate to have an extremely cunning shaman as his wife capable of planning his assaults and controlling his ferocity. Indeed, while Kugblat was his tribe's greatest warrior by far, the tribe's greatest asset was Muala Toadflost, who later became leader. Unfortunately for Kugblat, his wife got very sick when it became known that the most lucrative caravan for 20 years would cross the desert, led by the Sultan himself. After that, she visited the goblin city of Gruk and won one of dwarvendom's greatest victories:she convinced the goblins to trade instead of fighting and made some outstanding deals. She discovered the lost tiefling city of Farruz, unearthed valuable relics both mundane and magical and sold them at a huge profit. Now she had enough money to buy an old abandoned diamond mine(thought to be exhausted, but Ikblot's divinations showed the opposite). A dragon appeared a few years later with some silly ideas about ownership of the mine. After a long struggle against him and his minions, Ikblot finally defeated him, found his hoard and branchiated to Sigil. Many great deeds are accounted to Uzzra, including shattering the Ghurr'ash horde, defeating Ssorth the yuan-ti Archmage in a duel, sealing a gate to Xoriat and coming up with the plan that won the day against the Vraezzan drow. Although a member of another race, he is honoured as any national hero. Mistress Jorthanna |

He and his mercenary group, the Thunderblades, have won an astounding number of victories and are justly honoured by all Princes. At first the clergy of Bane tried to turn the hobgoblin rulers against Uzzra and often attempted to sabotage his efforts, yet he persevered. That's a really cool background! I almost feel disapopinted that the actual Uzzra is so different now ![]() |

Her chitin armor is made from the molted exoskeletons of the massive spiders of the deep desert caves. The breastplate is a preserved, whole spider, the legs acting as straps curving around her torso to hold it in place. Her animal companion is a huge monstrous scorpion, and she wields wicked, curving daggers made from the fangs of gigantic spiders, complete with the spider poison preserved with magic. She protects her territory fiercely, and she kills those who commit crimes against nature in the most cruel and horrific ways she can. Not content to just kill, she feels a compulsion to inflict pain on her enemies the way she envisions that they have pained nature. Arathax Nioraz |
