Figured I'd ask here. I have a cousin who came from Switzerland. TRying to figure out where to take her. So for you guys (and gals) from Europelandia... if you were visiting Miami, where would you want to go?

A Fins game.
The Keys, Pompano Beach (my great-grandparents used to live there), St. Augustine.

Pompano Beach is a possibility. Not that far off. The keys and St. Augustine... a bit further than you think.

But I'm not from "Europelandia".

From what I know, Swiss like cheese, chocolate and guns and hate cars.
Dunno, just make a list of popular tourist traps in your area?

I thought the Keys were pretty close to Miami.  And had no idea where St. Augustine is, but figured it was all historical and stuff.
But I knew WDW was in Orlando, which is nice and far.

@TS: Disneyland is the original, in SoCal.

You could try something most tourists don't. Like hunting wild Hogs. That's an exciting way to pass a day. I'm sure you know, or could find, someone with a hog problem on their land that would be happy to let you shoot the damn things. No season, no license, no limit.

Hmmm wonder what homemade Wild Hog bacon would be like. Sounds tasty. I might have to take a trip sometime...

No, Disneyworld is a few hours driving. So are they Keys. Although I think if I were to go on one of those trips, I would rather take her to the Keys. You don't have to pay for admission

And as Qube pointed out, Switzerland doesn't have beach stuff. I might do that next weekend.

Yes!
But they scuba in Europe too...

As a former certified diver, scuba diving is the most fun I have ever had with my clothes on.
I highly recommend it, it is, indeed, awesome.

You should try naked scuba diving

If your Swiss cousin is hot (and legal) you could bring her to New England...

I've only been to Florida twice (once for a Rocky convention and once to go to Disney when I was a kid), so my perceptions of fun things to do in Florida are a bit skewed, lol - somehow I don't think she'd get as much of a kick as I did out of going to Gatorland.

Beach, sailing, nightclubs, visiting historical or Native American sites? Is there any pirate stuff in your area? Pirates aren't something you see much in Switzerland, right?

Oh yeah, HS is Floridian; you should totally take her alligator hunting.

I'd be all for just staying home and showing her what an ol' fashion all American barbeque is all about. Invite family, friends and neighbors over and get yer eats on. Amer'can style.

You know what the funniest thing is? She would totally dig that. We took her to a Colombian restaurant because she said that she didn't get to eat that kind of stuff in Switzerland. I'm sure she'd get a kick out of a barbecue. Unfortunately she is a vegetarian that occasionally eats chicken. Damn you Eurolandia!!!

That sucks, but I'm sure ya could still cater to her a bit. Ya know have salads and fruit there and maybe some hotdogs or hamburgers made of tofu or something for her.

And of course peeps would enjoy it. Barbeques are simple, and if you're new to them they can be quite an interesting experience just for that fact. Tossing in a beach visit can help too. Or mix the two!

Plenty of vegetarian stuff you can toss on the grill. Veggie burgers, pineaple rings, portobello mushrooms, corn, taters, sweet taters, and apples for desert.

Yeah, apparently fruits are quite expensive over there. She is indulging in them since they are so cheap for her here.

It depends on the type of the fruit... but I guess fruit could be expensive in Switzerland. It's not a country known for it's orchards.

BBQ the girl a chicken and some corn on the cob. Mmmmmmm good.

That is an excellent idea. Also, I'm hungry. Damn you all for suggesting so much food stuff.

I didn't say BBQ, although some people consider anything cooked on a grill as barbequing. As for how, corn I soak for a couple hours (in water) and toss it on the grill still in the husk. It steams in the husk, while soaking up a bit of a smokey flavor.  Very yummy. Works well over a camp fire as well (don't cook over pine, though). The husk will char a bit, but the grain inside won't. Pineapple you just cut into rings (or chunks or strips or whatever shape you want - star shapes are fun) and grill for a few minutes over medium-high heat. The natural sugars will caramelize a bit and bring out a wonderful sweetness. Apples you cut in half, core, sprinkle with cinnamon (and sugar, if you like), wrap it in aluminum foil and cook until tender.

Barbeque is about flavor/sauce, grill is about the tool you used to cook it.

Funny what a comma or two can do to change someone's meaning, isn't it.

If my database is correct, hs submitted a thread that revolved around the same {similar} issue.

{Here's the thread: This is why commas are needed }

(Interestingly enough, the current issue is the result of using a comma when it wasn't needed.)

But...but...but...

The comma was needed. It wasn't funny until the commas were added.

For proper contextual reasons, it was unnecessary. For the sake of humor, it was required.
