I just wanted to let you know it’s a *******ed beautiful day. Too all you weirdo lovers crawling out of mommy and daddy’s window to see a creepy creep, I say it’s a beautiful day. To the over-worked tax-man without-life all I gotta say is that there’s something wrongly pleasant in walking home, especially when the day today is such a beautiful one. The man on the street might as well be right here walking next to one of us, laughing and telling crass jokes. All I can say is everything that comes to mind, and what a freekin’ good day to have it said.

Nothing lasts, but, hell, it sure beats worrying!

Had there ever been a day like today there wouldn’t be a need to live it, but here we are not worrying about what’s been or will be. To man a woman as mothers introduces us to this world screaming pink, and as maidens they introduce us to a world of love and heartache, and when we’re old as crones they inter us into the ground. I got plenty of worries, and I haven’t got a plan nor goal, but hell if I’m not higher today than I’ve ever been. We’re god made man and god again for twenty seconds at a time.

Come to me, brothers; who is a misanthrope without delusion? Who is ugliness made beautiful? Who has nothing and cherishes it? Who loves life and eats suffering by the mouthful? Who knows today is the most beautiful day? Who doesn't know what to say, but says it anyways, because it's funky and cool?

I'm confused. What is this about? Guild Wars changing his life while he drinks beer?

Yes.

I see. Is it Guild Wars specifically that does this, or just MMO's in general?

Guild Wars, as it is a game where skill is more important than gear. Gear is just for looks, as it should be.

I like that. I hated it during the short period when I played WoW, and my guildmates would take some of the less talented warlocks over me, just because they had better gear. So I just went PvP, and lost interest in the game. The grinding is annoying, too.

Luckily I'm a skilled tank with good gear in WoW.

In Guild Wars I'm probably one of the best tanks.

Necromancer/Warrior that has high dps and survivability because I gain hps from you. :P

Drain the warrior and their monk heals me by proxy.

Nice. I really managed to get the Alliance mad at me in PvP. I would just cast fear. That's ALL I did. I cast fear on anyone chasing our flagbearer, the enemy flagbearer, all that stuff. Never once got a kill, but the most valuable member. They eventually sent half of their guys just to kill me. It was flattering, and they still lost, since I was drawing their attention. then when they realized their screwup, it was too late, and I went back to my old tricks. Ahh...good times.

I did like GuildWars for the no subscription fee thing. I dunno, something about subscription fees for games that just rubs me wrong (also don't like DDI).

I only played it for a bit, not long enough to realize the gear thing, but if true that's pretty awesome. Never liked the grinding in WoW or the focus on Tier gear either (though I think gear should still give a little bonus).

In GW level 20 gear is all the same. After you hit 20 its all about skill selection.

If you don't mind me asking, Rox, given that I've paid a (pretty small) one-off* fee for an all-you-can-eat MMO buffet, why do I need to check out something else? It's not like any of the above posters were saying "I'm bored of GW; time for a new game".

* OK, if you want each of the three campaigns plus the expansion, you need to pay a small, one-off fee for each**.

** What does impress me in GW is that the one-off fee for each campaign is literally all you pay. It's not a "start for free, pay if you really want to play system". The only nickel-and-dime-ing is for extra char slots over and above the 4+2 per additional campaign or if you want to unlock all PvP options without doing so via one of the two in-game mechanisms (one PvP, one PvE, both pretty easy to achieve).

*** Cool as it is, how does GW relate to the original topic anyway?

Because (last I checked, anyway) they're all free and cost you nothing to install or play. All you need is an interest and some time. They generate income for their parent companies through other means.

Nothing could possibly relate to the original topic.

No, your missive was nonsensical. Random != cool.

Well, to be fair, random doesn't necessarily equal cool. The biggest barrier to coolness is trying to be cool.

There are so many rules. I should write them down, then array them into an easy to realize checklist.
