| #2ADHadhAug 21, 2008 15:35:24 | Watch out for geeks and gazebos, expect funny words and wizards' hats and just remember we're all here to have some fun rollin', even if people here have weird hobbies. |
| #3ocarina_guyAug 21, 2008 20:06:39 | A pleasure to meet you. I suppose I'll share a few lessons: 1. Beware of the gazebo. 2. No matter what you might hear from the pessimists, most of us are courteous and pleasant. 3. Remember, trolls don't regenerate if you hit them with fire. But don't flame them; that's exactly what they want. So they're suicidal trolls. Go figure. 4. Smiting is a very effective defense, if socially unacceptable. 5. Don't waste your time or time will waste you. 6. Being a [insert obscenity here] is usually frowned upon. 7. Read the code of conduct. Several times. 8. Take care in fighting monsters, lest you become one yourself. 9. Don't sink Atlantis. 10. The gnome is a monster. Rawr. 11. We're a big, dysfunctional family here. I'm the weird reclusive roguish cousin. The moderators are gods. 12. Katana are not as awesome as they say. 13. The rogue is your friend. 14. Rouge is a color. Rogue is a thief. 15. Elves are not considered fruit, nor dwarves rocks. And the best of all: 16. Duct tape fixes everything. |
| #4kistraAug 21, 2008 20:13:14 | Hi and welcome. I think the main purpose of these forums can be summed up as discussing (and arguing about) D&D and other Wizards games-depending on how far you range on the forums. What specific questions do you have? What are you looking for? |
| #5ixien_kotharAug 22, 2008 9:27:57 | 1. Beware of the gazebo. Wow, I'm missing something here. Gazebo? What? Why should anyone be afraid of the gazebo? I've been on this site for a year or more now and I have no idea what you mean by that. 12. Katana are not as awesome as they say. Blasphemy!! |
| #6encaraAug 22, 2008 10:10:46 | Wow, I'm missing something here. Gazebo? What? Why should anyone be afraid of the gazebo? Because no one knows what the hell a Gazebo is, but we know it's gotta be dangerous! Time to bring the fireballs online! |
| #7darkraven18599Aug 22, 2008 17:24:26 | Welcome to The Game! Have a good time. There are some great folks here to learn from, but just remember like any place on the net there are those that should just be ignored as well. (You'll get to know which is which in time.) Oh, one more thing. Did they remember to warn you about the Gazebos yet? If you see one of them, or the lethal Green Davenport make sure your Bolt of Slaying is in your crossbow! |
| #8pigknightAug 22, 2008 18:00:33 | 1) Vampires and lichs (lich pronounced lick BTW) prefer being called living impared. 2) Vegetarians cause global warming. 3) Put any homebrew material in the House Rules section..or else...I don't exactly know what I'll do, but come back later...I'll think of something... 4) Anthem of the World is the best song ever. 5) I am a proud member of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals). |
| #9goblin_prideAug 23, 2008 8:44:19 | Because no one knows what the hell a Gazebo is, but we know it's gotta be dangerous! That would be a garden house without walls. Deck floor, upright posts and a finished roof, maybe railings if you're feeling festive. It's a form of pixie trap. Every time one gets built fairies come along and festoon them with flowers for some silly marriage ceremony or something..... |
| #10ADHadhAug 23, 2008 10:52:31 | For anyone still not getting the gazebo thing, here's The Story Of Eric And The Gazebo, As Well As Many Others. You may even find the infamous Head of Vecna there. |
| #11aotrscommanderAug 23, 2008 14:03:40 | 1) Vampires and lichs (lich pronounced lick BTW) Not technically, no, it isn't (aside from regional variations or something). It is pronounced 'litch' to rhyme with 'itch'. Certainly is in the UK. All the places with pronounciation guides - at least from the first page or two of googling - seem to concur with me. E.g. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Lich. (This even has audio in American and English accents? Nice touch or what?) Although...this page seems to indicate that there are two lich words, pronounced differently but meaning completely different things. Maybe where the divergeance arose. Don't mind me too much, but it's kinda a personal issue, being a Lich myself. Now Drow, there's some more debate about! I think last time there was a long thrad on it, the general concensus was it was 'drow' to rhyme with 'cow' rather than 'drow' to rhyme with 'slow'. 1) Vampires and lichs prefer being called living impared. I'm going to uncharacteristically benignly assume you are being hilariously contrary, here. Because I garentee that if you say that to a real Lich's..er - well, let's say 'face', but we are pushing the definition a bit - you'll be crawling around on all fours trying to find which window your intestines got blown out of. 'Cos Liches take being negatively compared to the living all personal-like. (Never mind being compared to Vampires *attempts to spit and fails* ...hoo-boy, you do not want to go there...) |

| #13darkraven18599Aug 27, 2008 23:50:41 | Here's an animated version of that infamous KoDT issue. That original story from Richard Aronson is a classic. Cheers! http://www.heropress.net/2008/07/lair-of-gazebo.html |
