c'est sûr, un Paladin doit s'occuper de la veuve et de l'orphelin;

Here's what I got when I ran this through a translator:

c' is sure, Paladin owes s' to occupy of the widow and l' orphan; but with high level, Paladin s' also occupy to prevent the murderers d' to achieve the misdeeds. I say that maintenant^ because the cavalry (that we translate into France by the knighthood), is l' art to handle the tanks (you know, these Roman antiquities…); good, now that the crisis passed, the knights owe s' to abstain from any murder; the riders, you have of it a good definition in a Korean film which has just left to France " Rough The Good, and the Weird" ; at the beginning of l' history, a killer is confronted during an attack of train with a rider which makes him precise a shot style " you see, not only I aim to with dimensions, but in more you see perfectly that I t' have in line of sight… (there too, the gougoutte: sweat: )

From what I can tell, I THINK you're trying to tell us about how paladins are supposed to be good, or something... 'Course, the translation sucks, so I can't be sure.

Je ne parle pas français. Si vous parlez anglais, pourriez-vous svp traduire votre poteau ?

He seems to be comparing the Paladin to the cowboys of the western movies. He mentioned the widow and orphan, which are common themes. And if I'm not mistaken, he made a direct reference to "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly", although he used the title as it played outside of the US.

I'd translate it a bit better, but my grasp of the french language has slipped a bit with my age. C'est la vie, non?

flag=drapeau
poteau is for the hanged man
english=a rider belongs to the cavalry
french= un cavalier appartient à la cavalerie, que nous apparentons à la chevalerie;
french= la chevalerie est l'art de manier les chars antiques romains, tirés par des chevaux, dont le cinéma a montré une célèbre scène dans le film Ben Hur avec Charlton Heston.
english=the cavalry includes teaching horses how to drive warriors into the battlefield as has been depicted by famous Ben Hur movie starring Charlton Heston.
english= next term in Uglyvan's sentence is irrelevant; unfortunately irrelevant isn't referenced in french script language.

Can you just write the post in English, instead of doing the phrase by phrase? You are clearly fluent in both, and this is the forum for the english distribution of the game.

Not to be insulting, but is it? I thought it was the only forum.

Actually he's refering to a Korean film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0901487/.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" was called that pretty much the world over.

And you're right, there is no Wizards forum in other languages.

I'm going to have to find that. It sounds rather interesting.

it's for sure, a guy wanting Paladin status should first busy his life with help concerning his family; each family uses different methods due to wealth status concerns; care for children's sake is one means; I already mentioned one way to teach any uncaring typical citizen something valuable in the fields of chivalry ((that here in France we call "féodalité")); it is by giving him a calling ((from Marvel SAGA rules)) like "repentant" (the one a well-known web-slinger has learned so well...((see "the death of Gwen Stacy"))); then, the young student can (or possibly will) become a lad (gray matters); it has already been described in Ad&d 1st Edition Unearthed Arcana supplement with the untypical negative levels a Cavalier of poor origin must begin his career with (I don't own this book actually);

ok, importing data from Marvel SAGA rules ((c) 1998 TSR):
repentant:Your hero acts to gain redemption for past sins. Only through the doing of good deeds can your hero feel at least partially cleansed. Exemples: Ant-Man, Elektra, Gambit, Silver Surfer.

eight colors:
-2 black 0 incompetent
-1 gray 1 1.1 lad
0 white 2 1.2 ???
1 blue cops 3 1.3 rookie
2 green hope 4 2 amateur
3 yellow fight 5 3 professionnal
4 orange work 6 4 champion
5 red ??? 7 5 master

these eight colors lie in the right eye for a boy, and a girl will look a boy from her right eye

I bet every translation has it's own forum.
I know at least two Polish ones.

Notice, I said English distribution. Different publishing houses, which is how translations of the game are handled, may or may not provide their own forums. However, the WotC ones are on US servers and dedicated to the in-house publications of their product. We don't have errata boards and discussion for the German and French translations.

Maybe. I don't think understanding the French language is enough, though. Even the stuff he posts in English is incomprehensible.
