| #2homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 14:06:51 | That's good. It is a start. Now if we could get everyone to come to the table. |
| #3zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 14:13:45 | You know I'm in. This isn't how I like this place to be. There's also been precious few posters I wished would just leave during my time here. All of them are gone and all of them were far worse for the forum than the couple of people gettin' jumped now, that's for damned sure. |
| #4death_isthe_beginingFeb 11, 2011 14:15:27 | I have reported no-one and I don't plan on starting now. I like the open discussions here. I'm in. |
| #5zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 14:19:04 | *sigh* It's not gonna happen. Someone reported the Egypt thread and it was poofed. No fights, no attacks, no real discussion of politics and it's still gone. Someone here is gettin' their jollies out of this. Oh well, we do have a group, you know. Actually, we have two. ;) |
| #6mock26Feb 11, 2011 14:20:12 | That's good. It is a start. Now if we could get everyone to come to the table. But some immoral people have been officially told that they are no longer welcome at the table, yet they continue to keep showing up for dinner. |
| #7homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 14:24:55 | *sigh* It'll happen if we make it happen. If people can protest and change a government, we can come together and make this a more peaceful place. But some immoral people have been officially told that they are no longer welcome at the table, yet they continue to keep showing up for dinner. That attitude doesn't help. We need everyone to come together. A truce requires all sides to work on a compromise. I invite all sides to contribute to this discussion in a respectful and meaningful manner. |
| #8pluisjenFeb 11, 2011 14:25:54 | I don't report people either, and it's more fun here if other people'd do the same. But some immoral people have been officially told that they are no longer welcome at the table, yet they continue to keep showing up for dinner. I don't think this is the kind of reaction we're looking for in this topic... chill out man. |
| #9zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 14:37:57 | It'll happen if we make it happen. If people can protest and change a government, we can come together and make this a more peaceful place. That sort of change happens face to face or, at the least, with a physical presence that can't be denied. This? This be teh intertoobz, man. Not only is the glass half empty, there is no glass at all. At any rate, you can count on me to follow the terms of the truce. Largely cuz I was already leavin' things alone, but also because it's the right thing to do to restore the fun. |
| #10iqwinnFeb 11, 2011 14:48:13 | I don't report people either, and it's more fun here if other people'd do the same. But some immoral people have been officially told that they are no longer welcome at the table, yet they continue to keep showing up for dinner. Do you really want someone like Charles Manson at your dinner table? |
| #11zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 14:52:12 | Do you really think anyone here really resembles a Charles Manson? As an aside, yes, I would have dinner with Charley Manson. I mean, why wouldn't you? The guy was part of one of the most infamous events of one of the most infamous periods of this nation's history. I'm quite sure it'd be fascinating to speak with the man. Besides, despising something you don't even try to understand is one of the most despicable things you can do. |
| #12EscherEnigmaFeb 11, 2011 14:52:55 | That's good. It is a start. Now if we could get everyone to come to the table. July 30th, 2009 I had a thread removed. When I asked why it was deemed a "disruption" I was told: Our forums are not designed as the best place to share non-gaming articles and news that you find interesting, I'm afraid. At times, we allow the more light hearted topics that don't have to deal with gaming, but generally, more heady topics aren't allowed. Many topics that don't relate to gaming are classed as 'disruption' on our forums, and actions taken on the world stage are often deemed political because that is where the conversations inevitably end up being. |
| #13pluisjenFeb 11, 2011 14:56:23 | Do you really want someone like Charles Manson at your dinner table? Assuming he's there to tell an interesting story rather then kill my other dinner guests, it might be an interesting evening. |

| #15zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 15:00:49 | Yup. 'He made fun of god' != 'He sent a bunch of drugged up, impressionable youth to slaughter well to do white folks as brutally as possible - including killing a very pregnant woman and her baby - in order to ignite a race war'. That, I believe, should be pretty damned obvious. |
| #16boraxeFeb 11, 2011 15:13:42 | The problem with a truce is it requires both/all sides to act in good faith. If even one party involved decides to continue acting in a disruptive or antagonistic manner the whole thing fails. |
| #17Robin_HoodlumFeb 11, 2011 15:14:46 | Now I'm confused... Is this right... Our forums are not designed as the best place to share non-gaming articles and news that you find interesting, I'm afraid. | #18zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 15:14:55 | The sad fact is that that's exactly what it appears we're looking at. |

| #22baneofelvesFeb 11, 2011 15:55:03 | Do you really think anyone here really resembles a Charles Manson? What's funny is when my instructor was 18 he actually met Manson at a burger place. (supposedly) Either it really happened or my instructor is a good liar. In his words "that guy scared the sh*t outta me" And not too much rattles this guy. |
| #23zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 16:12:21 | I've been trying to come up with some response to this for a while now. Sadly, this is not possible. We lobbied for quite some time to get the 'any topic' changed to 'any lighthearted topic' to no avail. |
| #24homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 16:20:01 | It probably has something to do with the fact that even though the OTT has a large number of posts, it is largely due to a small group of members who just post a lot. We would need to get a largew group of people to petition for the change. I don't see it happening. I still think we can come up with a few socially acceptable rules for behavior in the OTT. We would need to come up with our own way of enforcing these rules, but I think we can come up with something. |
| #25mock26Feb 11, 2011 16:29:14 | But some immoral people have been officially told that they are no longer welcome at the table, yet they continue to keep showing up for dinner. But it is exactly the type of attitude that is needed on these foums. A certain individual has proven time and again that he is incapable of following the rules of this site, and he has repeatedly been punished for it. Yet this individual has decided that the rules do not apply to him and has refused to accept his punishment like a mature, responsible poster. In short, he does not care one iota about these forums. As such this person should not be forgiven until he can accept his punishment, apologize for his actions, AND prove through his posts that he has changed his ways. Until then, however, such posters must be treated with the fire that they so deserve lest they regenerate. To be blunt, I think that these forums are better with people like the individual in question being banned. Sure, it might not be as "lively" but I will gladly sacrifice a bit of "liveliness" if it means fewer threads lock and fewer posts deleted for violating the terms of service. |
| #26Robin_HoodlumFeb 11, 2011 16:37:45 | This thread has been locked due to conversations about banned members. It will not be looked at to see if it should be reopened, it will simply be ignored. Thanks for keeping the forums a good place! |
| #27pluisjenFeb 11, 2011 16:41:26 | I also think it's cute that everyone refers to a single user as breaking the rules and/or should accept punishment when there's multiple people breaking the rules and getting banned all around. |

| #29pluisjenFeb 11, 2011 16:44:36 | I think Qube? Haven't seen him around lately. As for breaking the rules and/or getting into heated debates, I think it's easier to list people that haven't done that. |
| #30Cpt_MichaFeb 11, 2011 20:34:18 | I'm for the truce. At least until the mods get away from here. I don't believe in reporting posts, unless it is something that is grossly offensive (like posting pictures of dead skewered babies.... or behavior on that level. not the stuff that goes on here). I'd rather that the person bringing in the heat, get run out than the supposed troublemakers. If we can deal with it, amicably then maybe the reporter should just pack up and leave. But I suspect it's not about being offended but about this person getting their jollies. |
| #31mock26Feb 11, 2011 20:37:57 | But some immoral people have been officially told that they are no longer welcome at the table, yet they continue to keep showing up for dinner. Hardly, GoldoMark. I may hate, loathe and despise you and your childish trolling and find you to be a blight one these forums, but I firmly believe it is up to the moderators to enforce the rules. If others wish to assist the moderators then that is fine by me. By the way, and I am being serious here, why do you feel the need to violate your bans and keep on coming back under different names? |
| #32mock26Feb 11, 2011 20:39:59 | I'm for the truce. And how is that any different or any worse than a troll getting their jollies? Why are the jollies of a troll acceptable but the jollies of someone helping the mods not acceptable? |
| #33WolfLordBranFeb 11, 2011 20:42:48 | Count me in, if only for the fact that I'm sick and tired of having to read all the grox-dung that has been posted here lately. |

Because while the troll might get his jollies, at least the thread remains intact and can be discussed as the posters in it desires. Ultimately, also the people that respond to the alleged troll are simply feeding it. And I think that everyone in this particular board is smart enough to know they are doing so when they post. They just want to debate stuff. It doesn't simply get Disappeared or Locked like it does when someone that has a Vendetta against a Poster (or in this case at least 3 posters that I'm aware of) goes on it's reporting spree. And that is what it is, a vendetta. It's not helping the mods. Because the mods don't actually do their job and determine if the content of a given thread is Lock worthy. They just lock it, say they might "review" it and might reopen it and never do. I have had several of my threads, which were not offensive at all in of themselves, get Locked or Disappeared because of this person's Vendetta Jollies Cravings, because two of the posters in question just happened to post in it. Even when they did nothing wrong. Also let's face it OTT was much more lively before this Self Righteous Vendetta possessing Prick showed up and brought the Heat in with him. Each time this crap goes on less and less people post in OTT. TLDR version. The person "helping!" the mods and supposedly "helping" the community on this site are doing more to destroy it single handedly than even the most base human being I ever met that came to this site did. And that assclown posted a picture of a dead fetus, skewered with scissors before he got himself Removed. |
| #35homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 21:26:51 | So I was out for a coouple of hours and I started thiking... we need a written set of rules for this truce. I would like to call it The OTT conventiosns. A set of rules and consequenses OTTers can call upon during times such as this and consequences for the violations of those rules. I know we don't have the power to ban or restrict any other member, but I have a few ideas on what can be done by OTTers. Any ideas for rules would be appreciated. |
| #36mock26Feb 11, 2011 21:33:34 |
Instead of blaming this person or persons who are reporting posts I think that the blame really does need to be placed squarely on the trolls. It seems to me that if they had simply abided by the rules (or at least accepted their bans once they decided to NOT follow the rules) that no one would have reported them and chances are the mods never would have noticed the threads and locked them. And it seems to me that it is the trolls that are driving the posters away. I truly believe that with fewer trolls there would be more people willing to come to thise section and stay here. As for the "two posters in question" not doing anything wrong, if they were violating a ban and posting under alt IDs, well, that is actually doing something wrong. |
| #37mock26Feb 11, 2011 21:52:15 |
Prove it, goldomark. And for the record go back and read posts from the past three or four months. I have been posting regularly in this section for quite some time before you started getting banned. Why would I all of a sudden start reporting you when I did not do so in the past? Hmm, frenchie? Answer that if you can. You might want to look for new posters to this section. Chances are that it is a newbie (either to the site or this section) who is reporting you. Also, why are you afraid to answer my question? Why do you feel the need to repeatedly violate your ban and keep coming back to post under new IDs? |
| #38ORC_PiperFeb 11, 2011 21:58:07 | Due to complaints received about this thread, I've closed it. The thread will be reviewed to determine if it should be permanently closed, re-opened, and/or a new thread or threads created in its place. |
