#1 harmassassin Jun 30, 2008 17:01:28	For the sake of those of us that have jobs, and can't spend every minute of every day reading forums or sending text messages.... The first time you use an abreviation in any post, include the full text of what it stands for. After that, go ahead and use the abreviation. But it gets really annoying when trying to read a post and every other word is an abreviation, requiring 5 minutes of research to figure out what it stands for. For example. If you want to talk about Attacks of Opportunity (AO), spell it out the first time, then go ahead and just use AO each time you want to repeat it. Let's face it, the same abreviations/initials can stand for different things, and are extremely subjective. If I say, AoE do I mean Area of Effect, Age of Empires, All orbiting Earth, Axis of Evil, etc? Using abreviations is only acceptable in written communication if ALL parties reading it, know what it means. If there is any chance that a reader might not know what it means, show a little courtesy and spell it out the first time you use it in your post. You have a full keyboard at your disposal, not a cell-phone keypad... learn to type please.

Also for pre-defined abreviations right out of the Player's Handbook, such as AC or STR, it should not be nessasary to define them on a D&D forum.
