As a player, I really enjoyed 2nd edition AD&D

As a DM, I really hated 3.x edition, but again it was D&D, not AD&D.

From what I have read so far I will enjoy playing and DMing 4.0, but again it was D&D, not AD&D.

Aug 08, 2008 5:55:29 Actually it is AD&D try looking back to the original where you you had no classes just charcaters that were Elf, Dwarf, Fighter, Magic-user, Thief, and Cleric. Otherwise the new game is 5e not 4e or conversly 3e not 4e

Don't be silly, 3E was an expansion of the AD&D 2E rules, they dropped the advanced because it didn't make sense for it to be there anymore, but it was still a continuation of the "AD&D" rules. 4E is the same way.

Because the game had evolved too much, the game was much different from it's predecessors. Calling it AD&D would imply there was a non-advanced form, which wasn't true. It was still an evolution from AD&D 2E.
