#1 Mad_Jack Oct 24, 2011 23:05:27	Looks like Ben Affleck might be directing the big-screen version of Steven King's The Stand, as well as joining fellow Bostonian Matt Damon in a Whitey Bulger biopic...  Link  I'm a bit torn on whether or not The Stand could be done well for the big screen (there's apparently talk of doing it as a trilogy), but I'm somewhat interested in the Whitey Bulger biopic since I live in New England. I think if they get a good script it should be a decent film.
#2 homicidal_squirrel Oct 24, 2011 23:54:07	Interesting. I wonder how it will turn out. Movies based on his books have mixed results. Some are good, others are terrible. I liked The Stand tv series. Hopefully this comes out good.

#6 KillerGM Oct 25, 2011 10:14:26	Eh, I'll Netflix it.  That miniseries was horrible.  The guy who played Flagg (though I do like the actor) was just a terrible fit, and that really ruined it for me.  And that chick's really bad hair. Bleh.
#7 grehnhewe Oct 25, 2011 19:36:19	I thought the Stand mini-series was okay, and I think the lengthy novel better lends itself to a mini-series than a movie.  I guess I am just bitter that the production of Dark Tower was shut down, when a second adaptation of the Stand gets green lighted.  Hopefully Ron Howard's Dark Tower adaptation will end up back in production, they have recently done some budget cuts ala the Lone Ranger (which has been green lighted.)  I am down with Xavier Bardem as the gunslinger.
