The file had been uploaded just as planned. Thousands of users had already wandered by, unknowingly sparing themselves a fate worse than death. It was in the Off-Topic Tavern that the first victim was infected. With a single click the Zeta virus made the jump, working its sinister ways on Patient Zero.
Within an hour, Zero's behavior had done a complete one-eighty. A ravenous hunger filled Zero's thoughts, an all consuming desire to feed. Even then, enough of Zero's humanity remained for him to hate what he had become, the monsterosity that wore human flesh. If he had been able, he would have ended it there but Zeta had cut away that ability long ago. Now the virus drove him to feed and spread the infection to all the living.
Lurking in the shadows of the Tavern, Zero hungered and waited. Soon enough someone would wander in and his black hunger would be sated, at least for a little while...
