I don't cheat (wouldn't know how), and I don't hack (again, wouldn't know how), but it seems all the servers are absolutely full of hackers and stuff. And the server admin abuse is legendary... I just got kicked from a server for being good... Yeah, I guess I was doing better than an admin... so they kicked me. Stuff like that gives me a big case of the ass. I love the game and think it is a lot of fun, but now I can't enjoy it... I am almost sorry I ever bought it. Anybody know of a good fps, and I do mean good, that is online multi-player, and isn't riddled with cheats and hacks? |

In single player it might help if you want to see the story and just can't beat one thing for life. But in multiplayer? Anyway, I used to play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory a while back and that's it. I'd be happy to play a match of WH40K: Dawn Of War though. |

| #6boraxeJun 01, 2010 8:23:15 | If you find one let me know, I haven't been into multiplayer FPS for years. My natural inclination is to play like a hunter: find a sweet spot, hunker down in a blind and wait for the prey to come past. I never really got why that was a bad way to play (as opposed to hopping around everywhere like a frakking moron) but back in the DOOM days it made me a "camper" and a target for abuse. I got into Unreal Tournament a few years later and owned the hell out of that game, but apparently being able to dead-eye snipe people from half way across the map while leaping through the air made me a "cheater" and a target for abuse. A tried Halo multiplayer a bit but again my "hide and snipe" approach and my ability to "hip-snipe" got people's panties wadded so I pretty much just checked out of the scene. I imagine with the new approach to team FPS games - where a dedicated and skilled sniper is seen as a desirable asset to a team rather than a "camper" - would actually suit me pretty well but I've been out of it so long I don't know if my skills are up to snuff and I don't have to time to explore numerous different games to find a good one. |
| #7Cpt_MichaJun 01, 2010 8:34:03 | Modern Warfare 2 is more about sniping and staying in cover. Oh, how could I forget add Gears Of War and it's sequel to the list too. |
| #8scypioJun 01, 2010 8:43:15 | Try Counterstrike. Most maps have a defender and attacker theme. If its a bomb map, the counterterrorists defend sites from the terrorists who try to plant a bomb. If its a hostage map, the terrorists defend prisoners while the counterterrorists try to rescue them. So if you are the defending side, its very common and accepted to camp the site which you are defending. Although most maps have two targets, so you will be mocked/yelled at/slayed if you are camping one site while the other site is being bombed. So its fine to camp, but once you realize that the other site is overrun, you typically have to get moving. And obviously if you are on the attacking side, there's more emphasis on being proactive. |
