Never seen him before. *shrug*
I do remember that the plot description I saw for Fruitvale had me intrigued, though. Mostly because I'm actually pretty familiar with the Fruitvale BART station.

What the big deal? They got Samuel Mother Jackson to play Nich Fury, and hes black aint he? And Kingpin was black in the Daredevil movie, so its not like this is a first or anything.

A black guy to play someone who is sort of burned?

I think David Hasslehoff did a better Nick Fury, does that make me racist?

Does that mean he'll be the Human Taser now?

That aside: Nick Fury had a precedent in the Ultimate Marvel line, where he was always black and at some point turned into Samuel L Jackson, securing him the role for movies.
It's going to be weird if Johnny is black and Susan is not, but I guess you can't have a black actress in a lead role, amirite? And Black Panther is not gonna happen.

Also, Luke Cage is apparently going to be in the SHIELD series; I'd love a Heroes for Hire movie though.

@ADH: I've read an interview with the artists where they said that SLMFJ was always their model for Ulimates Fury.
Also, I find it interesting that the article's author touts a black dood playing a white comic book character, and totally dismisses Blade (which came out BEFORE the current glut of superhero movies!) and Spawn (ditto), because they were black in the comic books.

Well, to be fair, Blade had Wesley Snipes, and the movies were terrible. They should be dismissed.

The first one was pretty good. And it had Traci Lords...
The second one wasn't as good, but, in its defense, it did have Norman Reedus (from Boondock Saints & Walking Dead) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy).

Iron Man 3?  dood, 2 was terrible enough to make me positive any further efforts would be garbage.  I couldn't handle the Bay-esque rapid fire dialogue.  Terrible.

Yeah but it was Cheadle instead of Howard.  Boo.

Cheadle's a better actor. I agree that Howard was a better Rhodey, but I can't really hate that they got a multi-time Oscar nominee for the role.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cheadle.  I just think Howard's a better actor - especially for a role like that.  He's more ... badass, I think.  His demeanor, look and attitude better suits the role than Cheadle's.  But yeah, Cheadle pwns.  Just not as War Machine.

Very true. I know there were contract issues for getting him back for IM2, but I've seen that both sides are solely blaming the other.
So, I don't know for sure why Howard didn't return, but Cheadle was an... acceptable substitute. I can't think of anybody (other than Howard) who could have pulled it off. Omar Epps, maybe?

Yeah, Cheadle is a good sub, that's for sure.  I heard that they wanted to pay Howard less for the second one than the first one or something - and like way, way less than Downey.  Sounded like they wanted to bounce him for some reason and just made it happen.

May 13, 2013 16:01:05
Yeah, but I'd also heard that he was asking for way more than the contract specified after seeing how popular the first one was. I dunno.

May 13, 2013 16:08:10
Yeah, I think they had him locked in for 2 before 1 was all done and his pay was way lower than it should have been.  Neither party would budge so there ya go.  Cheadle.

I also remeber hearing he wanted more money then they were willing to pay. I still don't get actors that do that, I mean lets refuse 12 million dolars because I wanted 14 to stand in front of this blue screen and talk and pretend to be somebody else, oh man now I have to kiss this beutiful actress, I should charge more for this!

There is also the chance he read the script and figuered if he was going to be in such a terrible movie, he may as well demand a boat load of money in case the movie sinks his career.

Exactly.  I mean, dood was in Crash - and Movie 43.  Can't have something like Iron Man 2 on his resume.

You know you'd rather be in Movie 43 than Iron Man 2. Hell, you'd probably be willing to perform certain favors of the not-to-be-talked about kind to avoid being in Iron Man 3.

I dont use search engines, havnt you heard? Obama uses those to spy on us.

I remember Iron Man fighting Mandarin, and Titanium Man, and Fin Fang Foom, and even Dr Doom, but dont remember this Whiplash guy at all, and they pick him for a movie villan!?

Thats about as bad as Balrog the Leeper or whoever from the next Capn Murika movie.

The whiplash in the movie was a combo of two different villians whiplash and  Crimson Dynamo  which is most likely why you don't recall him as potrayed in the movie and The Winter Soilder has been around since  2006 and it's funny considering that Bucky's death was one of the holy three comic deaths that were to stay premently dead

I called the Captain America sequel, though. As soon as Bucky got sucked out of the train, I turned to my (now ex-) and said, "Next one's going to have Winter Soldier!"
