Apparently the new Star Bores won't focus on effects - it's focus will be on the story.  Seems they fogot that Lucas went all out on effects cuz the story he had was really, really terrible.

Or maybe the story was really, really terrible because he spent all the time and money on effects.

if you never liked it to begin with, why are you so obsessed with it now?

I mean, I agree that sitting though the new SW will be like sitting through catholic mass if it were held at the dmv, but I'm only upset about it because my childhood memories have been **** on.

Why do YOU care? I must know.

Why?  Cuz a bunch of no talent idiots will be making millions of dollars.  Because a bunch of idiots will pay money to see this garbage.  It's a dual statement on the current nature of man and it isn't saying anything good.  A more apt question would be 'how can anyone not be concerned by this?'.  ;)

There is one good thing coming out of this. Since they will be focusing on the "story," the movie should just be the starting credits and the end credits. So it should be only about five minutes long.

That's a good point.  Hopefully they'll remake the Christmas Special or something.  That trippy Wookie scene where he bangs that chick or whatever is the best stuff Lucas has ever done.

That scene alone has more "story" than everything else Lucas has written combined.

Yup.  And it made a lot more sense, too.  I mean, the whole Jedi premise is so dumb.  Penicillin can take their powers away?  Yeah, that's so good it's like M Knight's Signs twist.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next Star Bores movie ends with a scene showing ho the force-bacteria didn't actually give anyone powers, but instead gave them hallucinations. Like, it would be a great way of saying that none of those terrible movies ever happened.

Hmm ... that may actually make the movies watchable.  Wait.  No, no it wouldn't.

I would love to rewrite Yoda's death scene to him in a bathroom and out of toilet paper forced to use his robe to wipe the blood from where it shouldn't be and then die, naked, on his li'l creeper sized pooper.  Maybe I'll have him mumble some Elvis lyrics in his death throes, too.  'Step on my blue suede shoes you must not ... *fart noises, blood splatter* ... uhhh ... *death*'  Fin.

When I first saw Star Trek II in the theater some dude started crying, loudly, saying stuff like, Spock! Noooooooo!!! Not Spock!!!

Whoever it was didnt seem to realize that it was a movie, and that they would bring Spock back to life in the next movie.

No one cried when Qui-Gon died when  I saw that one, I think that really says something about the type of people who like Star Wars compared to the people who like Star Trek.

I was thinking last but you may be on to something.  Imagine how awful those Star Bores morons would feel seeing that happen first off!  Awesome ... though we may need to introduce the death by rectal bleeding thing before ... wait, no we don't!  That can be the whole plot!  The rest of them incestuous idiots can spend the rest of the movie trying to find out what happened to Yoda and then trying to stop it from happening to them!  They won't be able to, of course, but it'll be funny to see them try.  Like, I imagine ewok fur being shoved places to try and stop it for one ... yeah, this is gonna be awesome!

Still a better story than Snore Trek.

Actually what I was getting at is that Star Trek fans take too seriously, like its really happening or something, whereas Star Wars fans (most of us anyways) realize that its just a movie and is meant for mindless entertainment.

I didn't see any of Star Trek movies and don't plan to. The series alone is boring and uninspiring enough. It's like the definition of talky and cheap looking, i.e. how not to make sci-fi. In fact, Star Trek is the reason why I avoided sci fi for years

Star Wars certainly isn't cheap looking, at leats the preuqels, no matter what you think of it. You yourself have said that it had a high effect budget. But, this is really pointless. You don't really care about what you're talking about, you'r just trying to make yourself feel better about your choices in entertainment.

Firstly, don't bring up JarJar. I don't bring up the bastard you fathered on Lady Gaga. Somethings are just too painful and embarrasing to joke about.

Secondly, if you don't like lasers...you are doing it wrong.

There is nothing wrong with turning off your brain for a couple hours and enjoying a cinematic adventure for what it is: a fictitious story that was successful enough to be funded and produced.

When you create a cultural phenomenon that survives through four decades, I will throw away my Leia buns. Until then, pipe down good sir. :P

You have to understand something. ZB is normal. Like, mind numbingly, boringly normal. He has to differentiate himself from the countless others exactly like him by having good taste. He's unable to enjoy anything that he hasn't approved as "good." This is why he constantly has to put down everything he dosen't like, because he needs to keep himself convinced that he has good taste (otherwise, why exist? Or so he feels). It might be conscious or unconscious, no idea.

Right, wookies and ewoks are totally not cheap looking - neither is Jar Jar.  Totes.    But I can't really expect a typical Star Bores fan like yourself to see past 'pew pew layzrs' can I?

You're saying elaborate props like Ewoks, Wookies or even Jar Jar look "cheaper" than a rubber forehead and pointy ears? Because that's what all aliens in Star Trek are, if not straight up occassionally recolored humans. Even Twi'lek and Togruta look less budget-limited than Klingons.

Seriously, that was the suckiest ST argument you've made. It would fit an episode of it nicely.

Nice. I'm just trolling ZB anyway. His opinion on SW dosen't matter to me, because he's never played KotOR 1 or 2.

... Ok, I get that you're a kid, but seriously?  Knights of the Old Republic came out in 2003, over twenty years after Episode IV was released to theaters, and a year after Episode II was released to theaters.  There have been a handful of books and comics (and two games) to which KotOR is important, but in the great scheme of Star Wars canon, the Old Republic is a pretty small chunk that, while quite fun, isn't a mover and shaker of the mythos.

I mean hell, that's like saying someone's opinion on Star Trek is meaningless because they haven't watched the animated series that came out in the 70s.

Interesting. Given that KotOR is part of the Star Wars EU and that there are other parts of the EU that I like (such as the X-Wing series or the Legacy comic series), I'm interested in how you came to that conclusion.

Off the top of my head? Favor the Bold had a good example. Any time Martok or Worf was in charge.

There is an even better example, but it was is season seven and since there's no such thing as season 7, I can't go further.

Fair enough. I was surprised to see them still using (I don't know the class of ship) the same model as the Excelsior for the Federation. It was what, 70 something years old at that point? And the experimental warp drive never worked out.

Sorry, but nothing out of Star Trek can be ever called "manly". Though Star Wars doesn't really have much in that area either.
For manliness in sci fi/space fantasy I go with these guys:
