The link is to the fight video, in case you missed it. I like Jones. He's one of those fighters that throws everthing at you: knees, punches, kicks, elbows... and his wrestling isn't boring. I was hoping he would have knocked rampage out, but he still dominated the entire fight.

Dammit.
I was hoping Rampage would win...

Why? The guy is one dimensional. All he does is throw punches. I think he threw about 3 or 4 kicks the entire fight. They were actually good kicks, but instead of continuing, he just went on punching, or trying to punch, a guy who has an 11 inch advantage.

Because I like him.
Is that good enough for you?

No, it isn't.

Jones used his kicks like jabs, and top notch carido, Rampage didnt stand a chance. I think Jones is one of those freaks that would be good at any sport he played. I dont see Rashad fairing
much better than Rampage.

Yeah, I see the Jones V Evans fight going pretty much the same. Jones has a huge reach advantage over Evans. Although, Evans is pretty quick, and he does use a lot more wrestling than Rampage. I'm thinking it would be a bit more competative than this fight.

MMA is awesome. I went to see an amateur fight in person, but half the competitors got scared and backed out at the last minute and the ones they could find replacements for were...well not exactly up to par. Every fight except the last one ended by TK in the first round.

Amature fights are pretty fun to watch. They sometimes have the craziest knockouts.

Yeah, amateurs can give ya great highlights - like that double KO that Shonie Carter was officiating.  Hilarious.

It's cool Bones won an' all, but is anyone honestly surprised by it?  I mean, he's pretty good and Rampage has lost a step.  I don't care about the 'oh, well he never really tried this hard before' stuff, either.  He's lost a step.  Period.  Not to take anything away from Jones, of course, but Rampage isn't Rampage anymore.  Rashad will give him a better fight, IMO.  His wrestling is better than 'Page's and he's a lot faster.  Not Jones fast, but fast enough to cause problems.  The reason I don't have him winning is that he's not aggressive anymore.  He's got that fight not to lose gameplan going after Machida humiliated him and he'll likely stick to that.  It'll make it harder for Bones to KO his ass - which is the point - but it won't help him win.  Bones is too active to lose on points to Rashad, IMO.  Still, Rashad is more dangerous because of his speed.  If Suga decides to, you know, actually fight Bones, though, I see a KO in his future.  But yeah, better fight but Bones still victorious.

Meh... Rampage may not be as strong and fast as he used to be, but he also never had the diversity that Jones as. He has always been the boxer/wrestler, with the wrestler part always being for defense. Even te old Rampage would have had a hard time with Jones. And bedides, Jones has that ridiculous 11 inch reach advantage over Rampage. Rampage would have had to kick to reach him.  I hear Rampage may fight Shogun. That would be an interesting fight.

That's what I'm thinking. Rashad's speed will help him mak it a more competativ fight. I don't see him winning, but at least he'll put up more of a fight than Rampage VS Jones. Still... that reach advantage Jones has... Rashad is going to suffer to get close to him.

That's probably going to be Shogun's strategy for the first (and maybe second) round. I'm betting he will finish Rampage with some ground-n-pound.

We'll see. It should be good though. Both guys like to strike. Shogun has a fw more weapons to strike with, but he doesn't have the ridiculous reach advantage Jones had over Rampage. There is the chance Rampage gets in a good punch. It should be an exciting fight.

I still want to see Jones VS Silva.

There is also the Lesnar VS Overeem fight. It should be interesting. I'm curious if Lesnar has acquired any new skills, and if he learned to take a punch. If he didn't, overeem is going to murder him. By the way, you ever get the feeling that people like watching Lesnar's fights just to see if he loses, and how badly he loses?

Yes. Then he will balance the national budget.

Yeah, if Rampage connects with a solid right, it could be over just that fast.  Still, I think ya gotta like Shogun.  More well rounded.

Jones vs Silva would be awesome.  I mean, as good as Jones is, is he as fight smart as Silva?  I think he may eventually be smarter, but Silva has the experience Jones hasn't got quite yet.  That's the fight, man.  Forget the one sided bloodbath most people are after in GSP vs Silva, we need to see Jones take him on.

So they're doin' a battle of the roids?  I think Overeem will kill Lesnar if Brock can't take him down immediately and hold him there.  A K1 champ vs a guy that can't take a punch isn't much of a fight.  Then again, Overeem can't juice like he can in Japan.  Meh, if it's standing it's too easy to call.  But Brock can take pretty much anyone down.

I used to see if Brock would win, now I watch to see him lose.  Once I saw that he hated getting hit in the face, it became really hard to take him seriously.  I mean, in a way it's worse than before his first fight.  The whole WWE thing made credibility difficult to obtain, but being afraid of getting punched in the grill makes it impossible.

It's probably a warm up for defeating China, resurecting Bin Laden and then killing him, and then saving the world from Klirshon.

I don't know, Jones still has a 7 and a half inch reach advantage over Silva. Silva may have the experience, but I'm not sure that's enough to take out Jones. Seriously, who has experience fighting a guy like Jones? He throws kicks, puches, knees, double knees, spinning elbows, and wrestles. Hell, he could have had Rampage earlier if the round han't ended. I think it was the second or third round where Jones pulled guard on rampage and landed in a triangle. If he had had 20 seconds more, Rampage would have been done. Besides, we've already seen that Silva's cryptonite is wrestling.

It'll be an interesting fight even if Lesnar takes Overeem down. He has to keep him down. Also, the is a chance Lesnar may land one of those huge punches.

you would think that taking chairs and tables to the head would have made Lesnar more comfortable with getting hit. Guess not. Although if you look at the other wrestler that got into MMA, I forget his name, he also lost after getting punched in the face.

It's true.  I just still think it's hard to really call.  I like Silva's ability to keep calm.  I mean, if Jones hits him with some flasy **** it won't bother him unless it does real damage.  Of course, Jones is all sorts of able to consistantly deliver real damage.  You gotta like Jones but I don't think you can count Silva out.

Lashly.  And yeah, I think he took some shots while he had a guy mounted or something.  Haven't heard from him in a while.  I can't understand it.  It takes a certain type of balls to fight when you're scared, I guess, but it's pretty damned stupid.  Seein' a big guy like that totally lose his **** when he gets punched a couple of times is pretty funny, though.  Totally unprofessional but whatever.

I wouldn't count Silva out. Even in the Sonnen fight, where Silva had lost the fight, he still managed to pull out a win. The guy took more hits in that fight than he's taken in all his previous fights together, and he still managed to stay calm and get in a triangle at the right moment. Still, Jones's Ground and pound is completely different htan Sonnen. Sonnen focused on the body. Jones wrecks you all over. Look at the Shogun fight. He nailed Shogun on the body and then clobbered his face. He isn't just strong, he is quick and extremely active.

I also think Silva would rely on his striking against Jones. The reach advantage does a lot to reduce the effectiveness of Silva's strikes. I'd wager Silva would still get in a few good strikes, but it won't be his usually dominant display of striking.

I honestly can't remember if Silva has good take downs. I don't remember seeing him shoot to take anyone down.

I don't know that he has taken anyone down in a while.  I don't think he'd go that way with Bones anyway.  And yeah, Jones has some nasty GnP.  Didn't he break Vera's orbital with an elbow from on top?  Like, badly enough that you could hear it, IIRC.  Nasty.

Yeah, he broke Vera's orbital bone with an elbow from the guard if I remember correctly. He also broke Matt Hamill's ribs. The guy has nasty power... not from on top, but still the guy has some nasty power.

Dana White should force Silva to go up in weight. There is no one in his weight class that presents a challenge to him. Hell, there are few in LW that present a challenge. Jones being one of the few.

Yeah, he talks about forcing someone to clean their division out and Silva's more than done that.  Force him up and make him fight bigger guys.  Hell, there's only one guy he won't fight and he's not the champ anymore anyway.  Silva has proven he's likely the best at 185 ever.  Time to dominate the LHWs.

Yup. It would make for much more interesting fights. Besides, dosn't Silva walk around 200+ lbs anyways? Even on fight nights, he is weighing over 200 lbs. He has a crew that knows how to help him cut weight for the weighins. GSP is the same. I read that during fights he is up at 200 lbs. He cuts weight, gets weighed and then rehydrates and gets up there. That is why you see him looking so much bigger than the other guys in his division.

But yeah, Silva isn't going to be fighting Machida any time soon. Especially after Machida told White he wanted Silva money for his fights. Machida is good, but he hasn't done what Silva has done.

Yeah Silva's a draw even when you can't be sure how seriously he's gonna take it.  There's always that chance that he'll be in the mood to whoop ass.  It's a chance people don't wanna take so they buy the PPV.  Cuz when he wants to be on, he's on.  Machida has some issues, man.  That loss has messed him up I think.  And he still thinks he's some unsolvable puzzle for some reason.  I like his style but he's no Silva.

Exactly. Machida has a good tactical style. Well, he used to. It now seems more like an afraid of getting knocked out again style. I would have though he would have taken out Rampage, but he didn't. That fight just showed how scared he was of getting close enough to effectively hit Rampage. I get it, Rampage has that one hit knock out power, but Machida has fought excellent strikers before, and he was able to take them out.

Silva though, that guy, when he wants to fight and prove a point, you get a hell of a fight. Leben was demolished. Franklin needed rcnstructive surgery. Frykland took and elbow that came out of nowhere and knocked him out cold. Okami received the beat-down he escaped the last time they fought. Belfort took that ninja kick to the face. It wasn't even a challenge.

If he moved up in weight class, he could definitely demand more money. You know he would draw huge crowds as he makes his way to a Light Heavy Weight Title Fight.

just think of some of those fight.

Silva vs Rampage

Silva vs Rashad Evans

Silva vs Shogun (if they would fight. They are friends, but I haven't heard Silva saying he wouldn't fight Shogun.)

and of course...

The ultimate fight...

Silva vs Jones

Yup, the man needs to move up.  It's the best thing for MMA, really.  Er, unless he doesn't take any of those guys seriously.  I doubt that, but if he dominates at 205 it's a possiblity.  Seems the best way to get him to fight is to set him against a Brazilian he doesn't like.  That gets ... nasty.

Seriously... what's up with Silva and Brazilians? Chael Sonnen basically ridiculed him every single chance he got. Hell, it wasn't like he just said he was going to beat Silva. He called him an imposters and all sorts of things. Silva just There was an hour long press conference where Sonnen spent most of the time just making fun of Silva. Silva seemed to be cower. Yep.  For whatever reason he takes that **** seriously.  One wrong word and he'll do his best to make you eat your own ass in front of tens of thousands of live spectators and hundreds of thousands to millions of at home viewers.  He likes to make people feel totally inferior.  And he does a good job of it, too.  Just totally schools chumps when he feels like it.  Why he took that beating from Sonnen I'll never understand.  Unless he really is that pathetic a wrestler.

Well, Sonnen is a pretty good wrestler. His problem has always been submission defense. Silva has pretty good take down defense, but just not good enough to stop a guy like Sonnen. This is also why I think GSP would probably grind out a win over Silva in a match. Unless Silva can catch him with strikes, GSP will take him down, and he will keep him down the entire fight. Further, GSP is a lot better at defending submissions than Sonnen, so Silva wouldn't pull out a miracle win like he did with Sonnen.

They should offer him someone like Thiago Silva to fight. Thiago is a pretty good striker, and he is Brazilian.

I don't think GSP would be able to get Silva down easily at all.  His chin is suspect and he'd be taking a huge chance trying to set any takedowns up.  And if he didn't set 'em up, they wouldn't work.  Plus GSP doesn't do much of anything on top.  Silva is long enough to just wrap him up until they get stood up.  As long as Silva doesn't kick - which he wouldn't need to - GSP would be in serious trouble.

I really wanted to see Diaz fight GSP ... although I don't know why.  Nick is better on his feet, IMO, but his takedown D isn't all that great.  Sure he's got BJJ but I don't think it'd be enough (like you said, GSP can get out of subs).  I bet he'd just get frustrated by takedowns and do something stupid.  Still, I wanted to see that fight, heh.

The only reason I wanted to see the GSP vs Diaz fight was to see Diaz lose. Diaz has better standup than GSP, but like you said, his take down defense is sorely lacking. GSP would take him down constantly. Everyone likes to talk about Diaz's submissions and grappling ability, but they said the same thing about Jake Shields. Jake Shields was supposed to be the most dangerous jujitsu guy GSP had ever faced. He was supposed to be the best jujitsu guy out of the "scrap Pack," which included Diaz. So yeah, I don't think Diaz had a chance.

As for Silva... I don't know I think GSP is as good at wrestling as Silva is at striking. Chael Sonnen showed Silva's weakness to wrestling and take downs. Silva is a bit taller than GSP (about 4 inches), but he only has about an inch reach advantage. Silva might be able to stop GSP from landing any good shots from up top, but as in the Sonnen fight, I don't see them being stood back up by the ref. GSP is too damn active. He is constantly moving, constantly tryin to hit with anything he can. There have been a few fights where he has hit guys with his shoulders from on top.

I also don't think Silva wold go into it wresklesly and start striking from the get go. I'm sure he would be wary of GSP's wrestling. It would be one of those fights were the first round is just two guys walking in circles feeling each other out. Actually, come to think of it, I can see the first four and a half rounds going that way.

It would really suck for a fight. I'd rather Silva move up to light heavy weight, and GSP could move up or down in weight class. They've both cleared their respective divisions.

Yeah, they both need to move up now.  'Course if they both do someone's gonna hear somethin' about duckin'.  MMA fans aren't the most smarterest in my experience.  Lotsa conspiracy theories an' stuff.

Who's Diaz fightin' now?  Is it that guy from Denmark (can't remember his name)?  I like him.

I think his next fight is agaisnt BJ Penn. GSP will fight Carlos Condit. Between BJ and Diaz, I'd like to see BJ win. He has excellent jujitsu, if flexible like a porn star, good boxing skills, and great take down defense. His only problem is his stamina. Unfortunatel for him that is where Diaz has a ridiculous advantage.

As for MMA fans... yeah, a lot of them ride the short bus.

Oh yeah, that's right.  Forgot about Penn.  Don't see him losing to Diaz, to tell the truth.  His chin is good, takedown D is great and his anti-jits is off the charts.  But yeah, he gets tired a lot.  And Diaz does triathalons so advantage pot Nick.    Should be interesting, though.

the good thing for Penn is that it's only a three round fight since it's not a title fight, so Diaz's stamina advantage may not be as great as he would like. BJ seems to do pretty well the first three rounds. Round four is usually where he goes down hill.

Don't they do 5 round non-champs now?  I thought they recently did one.  If that's the case, this fight is a prime candidate.  'Course it's probably already been announced as a three.  I just haven't been able to keep up with stuff lately.

I don't think they've ever had a 5 round non-title fight. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I don't think I'd want this to go a full 5 rounds. By round 4 BJ would be winded, and the fight would no longer be competative. I 'm hoping it's more than just a boxing match. Both of them are supposed to be good boxers, but if I wanted to see a boxing match, it would be with two profesional boxers, you know?

I swear they've had one non-title five rounder or there's one on tap.  I can't remember, though.  But I'm with ya on wantin' this fight to be three.  I don't think we're only gonna see boxing, though.  I think BJ will have to try to do something because Nick will be hitting him too much.

You know, I'm not sure if it's because you mentioned it, or if I'm sort of remembering something, but I think there may have been a non-title 5 round fight. I just can't remember if it was a UFC fight, or who was in it.

As for BJ getting hit too much... I'm not too sure about that. He has trained with Freddie Roach on a few occassions, and Freddie thinks Penn has the best boxing skills. Diaz is no slouch when it comes to boxing, but neither is Penn. Interestingly enough, neither guy has been knocked out cold. Diaz has to loses by TKOs. One was a stop by a doctor, and the other was punches in one of his earlier fights. He wasn't completely out, but he was pretty much beaten. At one point you see his body start relaxing before he gets startled by the next punches.
www.dailymotion.com/video/x21je5_ua-4-ki...

Penn on the other hand has two TKOs: one was when he gave up and didn't come out for round 5 against GSP, and the other to Matt Hughes, which pinned him down and punched him in the face until he was saved by the ref.

Did some digging.  Looks like it's all main event fights - title or not - are to be 5 rounds.  If this is a main, it's a fiver.

Freddy Roach endorses fighter he trains!  Bob Arum says Pacquiao is the best!  News at 11!

Seriously, Roach has trained some damned fine boxers.  Roach has also trained Frank Mir.  I'm more impressed by the fact that Diaz had a decent boxing match all but booked than I am with who coached Penn's boxing.  This does look like it'll be decided by points, though, doesn't it?  I mean, two tough guys that can take shots and who are difficult to sub.  I still think Diaz will frustrate Penn into at least attempting something like a takdown.  The flipside is that if Penn is getting the better standing, I think Diaz makes it a point to keep it that way to try and prove he's better.  At any rate, it oughtta be a good'n.

Makes sense. I don't think this one is a co-main event though. I doubt White would want to give Diaz co-main event billing after the bs he pulled when he was scheduled to fight GSP.

But Pacquiao is the best. And if there was a boxing fight between Pacquiao and Penn... yeah, Penn would be done in short work.

They tend to be some of the better strikers in MMA though.

I'm sure if O can get enough money together, I can get a fight set up with Pacquiao. While you might be impressed by my testicular dortutide, it doesn't day much about my boxing skills... no matter how good I may think I am, and how awesome I say I am.

It does seem like something that will be decided by points. Unless one of them slips up and gets choked out or knocked out. Still, my money is on Penn.

Yeah, but a trainer/promoter sayin' their boy is gonna be the winner doesn't mean anything.

Penn is more well rounded, IMO.  Neither is gonna have any pressure issues.  Conditioning and not goofin' up are what's gonna matter, I think.  Still, not a bad match.

Yeah, he isn't a bad fighter, just a guy who gets scared of croweds... or so he claims. My guess, he was stoned out of his head, and he figured he already had the fight locked in. From what I hear, he lost a ton of money. The GSP fight would have made him more money than all the money he had made in all his previous fights combined. I'm sure his management team was delighted to hear about that screw up.

Yeah, they are both have to watch out with slipping. Thse are two guys you don't want to make a mistake with.

I still want to see Penn win. I can't stand Diaz's whignyness. "Boo hoo, there are crowds of people who want to see me. I'm terrified of them." He should have become a hermit if he didn't want to deal with fans in MMA.

Can't be too mad, if he wins he gets GSP next anyway, right?  But yeah, he's kind of a d-bag.  You want the cash, do the job.  All of it.

Yep, it could be either guy's fight depending upon mistakes.  Neither of them really makes a lot of those, though.  I wanted Nick to beat GSP in the hope that a more interesting as far as fight style goes champ would be crowned.  Now I hope he loses cuz even though Penn is a d-bag, Diaz is more of one.

It's a possibility. I think he upset White and the Zuffa execs with his no-show press bs. He may need to prove to them that he is willing to do the job, the whole job, before they let him get another shot. If he beats Penn, he probably would be considered the number one contender, but White and the other execs are the ones that make the fights.

Well, to be fair, Pacquioa isn't mch of a trsh talker. Although I think he would do better to hire Sonnen as his mouth piece.

That is exactly why I want Diaz to lose. I don't like Penn, but I can't stand Diaz. And I also get a kick out of seeing ll these Gracie jujitsu guys losing. Yeah, I know Penn also trained with them, but Diaz and his buddies are the ones that are painted as the Gracie jujitsu poster boys... especially now that there are no Gracie family members fighting.

Hmm.  Machida is interesting.  He's got a skillset that I doubt Jones has had to deal with before.  How many true counter punchers with really good takedown D are there?  Interesting.  I still say Jones but this oughtta be good.  As substitutions go, ya really can't complain about this.  Think he'll ask for Spider money if he wins?

Dude, if Machida wins I think Silva will be wanting to make Machida type money.

It is an interesting fight. Machida is a great counter striker, but he is going to have trouble with Jones's Strech Armstrong arms. He has a ten and a half inch reach advantage over Machida. He is going to need to get close to counter strike. The one challenge that Machida can really offer Jones, strikewise, is kicks. Machida has some good kicks. Jones has those thin legs. Who knows how much they can take. If he decides to use the same game plan Shogun used when they fought, Machida may be able to slow Jones enough to catch him with something good.

I think Bones should just try and overwhelm Machida.  He seems to do well when it's a couple of strikes here, a takedown attempt there but constant pressure seems to bother him.  Jones can deliver that.

Yup. I heard after he was taken off the main event fight with GSP, a video of him at an airport trying to get on a flight to the press conference popped up. Someone mentioned there was a clock that showed it was three hours after he was supposed to be there.

Yeah, that's kind of a rough deal.  Plus Stann likely would have murdered him.

Yeah, Stann has been tearing through people lately. Vanderlei, while awesome during the Pride FC days, has not been a top tier fighter in a while.

Yeah, I guess beating Jones would be the best win in UFC history.

It would be impressive as heck. Specially after Jones has wrecked all his previous opponents.

Yeah, that would be the best strategy against Machida. Machida is good at counter striking guys that strike and back off. Jones is one of those guys that just keeps on going, and his shots come from every angle. Machida would have a hard time with that. He had a hard time with Shogun in their first match. In the second, Shogun just swarmed and finished. And we know what happened when Jones went after Shogun.

Yep, he's done.  No shame in it, it's just his time.  Fighting is a younger man's game and if you've been around and taken damage, you're just not there anymore.  It's sad but it's just how things work.  I hope Franklin quits soon - before it gets too bad.  I like him.

It would be impressive as heck. Specially after Jones has wrecked all his previous opponents.

Yup.  And he'd be the only person who could say he beat him at this point, too.  Even Hamil says he got destroyed.

It seems like a lot will ride on the gameplan.  Hopefully they're aware of what Machida can do if you give him space and time and what happens when you just go after him hard.  I bet Jones will try to smash him quickly but every now and then you see camps out-think themselves.

I'm sure they also get paid quite well for that kind of stuff. Not to mention that they probably get to talk to indutry guys and set up endorsment deals. Seriously, that is the least painful part of the job. No one is punching you in the face, kicking you in the chest, or chocking you until your eyes pop out and you soil yourself.

Franklin was cool. But yeah, there is a reason why he is the underdog in all his fights recently. After the raping he took from Silva in those two fights, and the beat down Beltfort gave him, he should have started up a gym and just trained other guys. When he fought Chuck, I figured one or the other is going to retire after this fight. Forttantely for Chuck, Dana talked him into taking a less violent position within the UFC. Franklin needs to get out before he ends up getting seriously hurt. That's why Hamil retired. He can still fight, but he says he is in constant pain during fight because of all the damage he has taken. And Hamil is one tough SoB. Rampage said he tried to knock his head off, but he just couldn't.

Yup.  And he'd be the only person who could say he beat him at this point, too.  Even Hamil says he got destroyed.

I honestly though Hamil was going to win that one. Hamil has awesome wrestling, and heart. He is also freakishly strong. Seeing Jones manhandle him like a child was shocking. No one had ever overwhelmed Hamil so thoroughly.

Yup. I think he'll fight him like he fought Shogun. I'm curious how Machida will deal with the reach advantage. Seriously, 10 inches is a lot to overcome when you are mainly a counter striker.

Speaking of endorsements, I wonder how his sponsors let that happen.  I mean, he reps them, he'll be wearing their gear on camera and he bails?  That can't have made them happy.  And 'Nick being Nick' just isn't the same as 'Manny being Manny', ya know?

I was shocked and saddened to watch Rich get that thoroughly destroyed by Anderson.  I like Rich a lot and he's great for the sport.  But damn, Silva retired his ass and he just didn't know it.  Thing is, he sounds like he's about done anyway.  That's good.  He did his thing, had a good run and will be remembered fondly.  Time to bail.

I honestly thought Hamil was gonna give Jones fits, too,  Hamil's wrestling was so good I couldn't imagine him getting utterly dominated that way.  Part of it was having his shoulder dislocated so early on, but it got dislocated when Jones tossed him like a stuffed animal.  Just totally not what I expected.  Really made me see Jones as the real deal.

I don't know.  I mean, it is but it might not be - if that makes any sense.  Machida was a point fighter back in the day.  That sort of makes you really good at moving in and out, getting inside reach and stuff like that.  I don't know that it'll matter, but I think it'll mean Jones's reach is slightly less of an issue that it would be for most guys.  I don't think that slightly less will be enough, either.  But it doesn't matter.  Jones has so many ways to make you uncomfortable.  Where he excels is in making them fight his fight.  Once you can do that, winning is a lot easier.  And he'll probably just run The Dragon over anyway.  It's what I would do, heh.

Yeah, Franklin was in way over his head with Silva. It was like watching a scripted action fight scene. Silva was the protagonist, and Franklin was the villain. There was everything in that fight. Punches, kicks, kness, elbows, and ridiculous combinations. Franklin came out looking like he got his by a truck... and then a train. His nose was completely flattened. I'm amazed he came out of that fight with any teeth left in his mouth.

It took me a little while to start liking Jones after that fight. After watching him brutalize Hamil, you're just left with wanting to see someone come in and crush him. Then you realize, Dude, he dominated Hamil... Hamil. No one has done that. Hamil may have lost fights before, but not like that. You have to respect a guy that has that much power and skill. And then to watch him do the same to all the rest of his opponents.

I thought Bader was going to be a bit more of a challenge. Young guy, strong, with amazing knockout power. Two rounds and done. And what he did to Shogun. Come to think of it, has anyone ever done that to Shogun?

I don't know, it's going to be hard to score points when you can't hit the guy. Look at the RAmpage fight. Jones was barely touched in that fight. When RAmpage managed to hit him, it was because Jones had closed the distance and was about to lay his hands on him... in a not so friendly way. However, Machida kicks. Machida has some damn good kicks. He may be able to score some points like that. If he gets enough kicks, he may be able to hurt Jones. It should be an interesting fight.

He doesn't bring in as much money for the agents to take a percentage from, either.

Up to that point I'd never seen anyone take a beating like Rich did.  It was amazing.  And then he did it again.

I thought Jones got robbed so it made me like him right then.  I mean, that fight was over way before he got desperate and made the mistake.  Hamil even said as much (which made me like Hamil more, too).  Just never thought I'd see Matt get utterly destroyed by anyone.

And Bader was one I thought Jones may have trouble with.  Good power, really good wrestling, obviously didn't get rattled fighting name guys.  Jones is just on another level.  From anyone.

True.  It may well come down to the kicking.
