hello all!! i have recently heard of a group called the sca.

or society for creative anachronism...

i went to a few meetings and it is pretty fun....

i suppose you can think of it as 'Larping... but more serious, and less Dnd.

here is the link if anyone is interested....there is probably a location near you wherever you live..

http://www.sca.org/

if any of you are members please tell me stories, or maybe some experiences!

yeah, they are pretty big here in Phoenix. you can't set foot in a game store or call center without encountering at least one member. the Estrella War goes on every year, and it's a good time. sometimes they take themselves a bit too seriously, but it's all good fun.

cool... i dont have a lot of people in my area, only 20 or so, but they seem pretty cool, and i am interested in getting involved more.

we have a war called Pennsic...(i think i maybe misspelled it) with thousands of people in a huge battle.

im looking forward to participating in it.

I am not personally a member, but a lot of people I know are. They attend events all of the time, and all go to a big event called "War". It's in Pennsylvania, I think.

Yeah I know alittle bit about it. I want to join. I hear the local groups help you practice martial arts too. I've practice some sword fighting. I'm better at fencing then kendo, although I prefer Japanese style then European. I've heard that you make yourself into a character ?

They're hard to miss. I can't go to ren fair without somebody lifting their nose at me.

They're very serious about their play, and while I'm not as serious, they as a group have made it easy for me to just show up at an event without working to make that event happen.

I play up in Northshield. I'm hoping to make it to Pensic this year, though I haven't made it to any practices this year. Huzzah for violen...erm...Elaborate forms of tag...with heavy insurance fees...
