Last year was just painful – literally. I'm synaesthetic, meaning that colours can stimulate my sense of taste and touch, and have Asperger's syndrome, which means that sensory stimulation is often more overwhelming and harder to cope with, so looking at the sickly green Gleemax colour caused a subtle but persistent taste of bile in my mouth and a stinging sensation inside my eyes, which just meant I mostly avoided the forum for the day.
It's very uncomfortable to more less have to choose between being honest and reveal that you're more bothered with the colour scheme than normal people have a right to be, or keep quiet out of fear of being associated with the socially maladjusted geeks who keep claiming their behaviour is excusable because they're convinced they're aspies, that you've tried so hard to distance yourself from.
So for me, I'd much prefer for them to do something subtle for once. I think the idea of April fool's day is to fool people, so it would be nice if they could do something that a good deal of posters wouldn't recognise as a prank until it was pointed out to them. But honestly, I'd be satisfied if they just keep the boards readable and leave it at that.
Well they could try and prank us with stating that ole Stephenie Meyer was contracted for content production but that was already done before by someone not affiliated with WotC (the nerd rage was humorous none the less).
I would almost rather see the Gleemax color scheme.
My favourite one of those was the Mudkip craze on dA in 2008.

To make a long story short, they changed the look of the forums to a rather horrid green scheme, including light green text on a dark green background, all mixed up with other shades of horrid green. First they just denied it. Then they started responding in different green colors. Then they StArTeD tHiS. Then they started that dumb borg assimilation junk with all the other junk above.
That was a day i spent pissed an complaining rather than being happy in the OTT. At that time they had glitches that needed to be fixed but rather than work on those they decided to frank up the forums for a day.

That's weird about the fruits and vegetables. I remember when California wanted to establish a tax on "snacks" but not on "food," and there was endless bickering over what constituted a snack vs. a food. At least it's subtle, and it doesn't prevent anyone from accessing the page or reading the forum without suffering physical discomfort. I'm satisfied, and many people even seem to find it funny in itself (as opposed to finding others' discomfort funny). It's miles ahead of GLEEMAX! in that aspect.

I'll tell you how to use that glitch, in a way that won't get it on to the thread title.
It involves starting out with the coding for inputing a link into your signature, and then taking off the in the back. Then, what ever you put right between the thing before it and that one become... The new prefix to the title of the thread.

In the '03 (or was it '04) MLP incident everyone's avatar was changed to a My Little Pony for the day. Several people claimed this was a personal insult to them - even though it was entirely impersonal as it effected everyone equally - threw giant screaming tantrums across a number of forums, and rage-quit the boards over it. That's pretty much the extent of it, and thus my assertion that kind of childishness and unfounded rage is never justified.
