A couple of months ago, someone gave me all their old AD&D books. I also received an old Dragon Magazine (#165) which I just recently began reading. In the magazine, their was a RPG review and the RPG they reviewed was DC Heroes, second edition. It sparked my instrest and I've been thinking about getting the (slightly) newer third edition, which I found on online. Has anyone played it? Has anyone played any DC RPG?

Very funny . If you can't help me don't post.

P.S. If anyone wants to argue with Robin_Hoodlum please do it on another thread.

Don't tell me where I can and cannot post.
I was trying to be funny. Sorry you didn't like it, but I'm sure you'll get over it.
And no one was arguing with me.

Peace out homey!

I'm sorry. It's just that I've seen threads turn into intense political arguments over less than this and I didn't want that to happen. Here, have a cookie .

i played the original version of the DC heroes game.  is it the card-based game to which you're referring?

in all honesty, my all-time favorite game, V&V, was probably the single best for modeling the whole range of powers you find in the DC universe.  it's tough, but you really can have batman KO guy gardner with one punch in V&V.

When did I refer to a card based game?

I found the 3rd edition online. Is that one any good? Does it have a lot of playable heroes?

M&M is set in whatever universe you want it to be set in
I ran a game in the Marvel Universe once

Really? Cool. I found it online, but before I buy it, I need to know if it's the only core book or if there's something else I need to buy. Is there?

It's just the core book; it contains a section on running the game, plus a lot of stuff for players.

The game is super modular, so you don't need a lot of books to get all the flavor.

However; if you want to set it in the DC universe; look around for a setting-book, I believe there is one resembling that world (although probably not official)

Eh.  There's enough character conversions over at the Atomic Think Tank (M&M official forums) [link] to run just about all major canon characters, and quite a few minor ones.  And hey, if you get some detail wrong, you can always say "Sorry, we're in a little split-off universe that didn't actually get eaten in the Final Crisis Sugar Bomb1."

MAKE SURE YOU OVERSEE CHARACTER CREATION!!!!

Seriously, the game is really easy to break (the devs have in-text notes about obvious cheese) but as long as you don't go crazy and the GM isn't afraid to pull out Rule 0, you'll have a blast with the powers.

I'll make sure that I do. How many people do you need to play it?

depends, how many friends do you have? lol it works out like almost any RPG; 3-6 players and a GM work, as long as you tailor the issues (missions) to the make up of the heroes.  You could even run with less players if they have appropriate powers and a higher starting point buy

EDIT: to avoid sounding over complicated- it works similar to D&D, you don't need any certain number but the five man band is ideal

That shouldn't be too long. Unfortunatly, I looks like it's gonna be one of those games where I'll end up DMing and playing half the party due to a lack of other gamers.
