I suppose most of the time, working on your birthday doesn't matter, but when you do the overnight shift, it matters. So, I've had to do this every birthday for the last 12 years. For the last 4 years, I've had to work every holiday too. So how about it everybody, how often do you have to work on your birthday, and does it even bother you? |
| #2MechaPilotJun 13, 2009 20:24:58 | I don't usually have to work on my birthday. I will say that since my birthday is halloween, I wouldn't mind working instead of people knocking on my door for candy even though I keep my light off. Congrats on the big 30. Now you're old enough that the hippies won't trust you. |

The way I see it someone else is always going to want to take the day off, if for no other reason then to relax for a day, which means someone like me (who doesn't mind working all the time) can vouch for the shift, and make extra money doing so. I admit to often times scheduling to work my birthday and other holidays, just to avoid annoying family members or event-related going-on's that I have no interest in. Maybe I'm a workaholic actually... spooky idea. Anyway, congratulations on your birthday, I hope it goes well regardless! |

At least for holidays, however, it usually isn't - I generally tend to hold Mon-Fri daytime jobs where either the whole place works the holiday or everyone has it off. So most of the time when a holiday comes round I'm usually stuck at home with nowhere to go because everything's closed. |
