I've never been big on the series (onle seen 1 or 2 episodes), but this actually looks really good. Does anyone know if you should be familiar with the series to get the most of the movies plot? Or are you all hearing this for the first time like me?

also... oops! posted a link in one of my old threads about the film, too. I'm excited. M. Night is a good director, I just want to see a film where he steps away from writing.

I was just saying it was cliche. Which is weird because M. Night tends to stray away from cliches like the plague.

Well thats a dumb comparison. It is like saying (I'll pick a random comparison) "I didn't like Dumb and Dumber so I won't see Big Lebowski, 'cause they are both comedies."

Michael Bay is almost unanimously considered a jerk off. Don't set the live action Transformers as any kind of standard. Ever.

Jun 26, 2009 8:28:51 The folks over at Penny Arcade are worried about this too. Granted, Morgan Freeman as Appa is just plain absurd, but apparently they're getting the guy from Slumdog Millionaire (Dev Patel) to play Prince Zuko.

Avatar the series was (because it ended - there wasn't enough closure!) an epic narrative and I really hope M. Night can pull this off.

Morgan Freeman as Appa is just plain absurd

I don't know. If Appa actually had any lines aside from growling, Freeman would be a pretty awesome actor for him.
