So, I want to see what you all think who will win this fight. Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia vs. Tir McDohl from Suikoden in a one on one duel. Both are at full power, Lloyd with his swords that he received from Kratos and Dirk, and the suit of Gold armor, and Tir with the Destiny Fang Staff, and capable of using all spells granted by Soul Eater. The arena is a flat plain. And....GO!

Seigfried from SCIII with Glam.

I guess it's safe to assume that no one knows about awesome games like Suikoden and Tales of Symphonia then.

EDIT: Also, Lloyd is strong AND mobile, which gives him a significant advantage of Seigfried. All he has to do is use Raging Beast to knock Siggy over and finish him with Rising Falcon. All Tir has to do is nuke him with Judgement, since Siggy has a weakness vs evil magic, and Tir packs a lot of that. And even without that, Tir hits hard and is nigh impossible to hit. I think Siggy would get pwned.

Nah I just think Seigs would win. :D

Really though I'd say pre-amputation Blade. (The Naughtling)

Again I kid you. :P

Lloyd.

Read my edit to see my opinion on how Sig would fare. Have you played Suikoden? It's older than I am. Just making sure, that's all.

Sig has infinite lives. Beat that! :P

OK, obviously you have never played Suikoden 1, so lemme explain just how Soul Eater works. First, it's a True Rune, and anyone who is chosen by a True Rune can only die from a violent cause. (battle, poison, ect). Nothing else works. Out of the 27 True Runes, Soul Eater is one of the most powerful. It kills the people that the bearer loves (most bearers do not figure this out until later) and each time that happens, it's power grows. When you kill someone using Soul eater, you consume their soul, and they go by by forever.

In that case I throw Dormir into the ring!

No soul and the only person he loves (as a daughter) gets free rez's.

I was really hoping they'd put Lloyd in Smash Brothers. That would be awesome.

I'd only use Lloyd and Ike then.

1. Soul Eater can still kill things without Souls.
2. this is between Lloyd and Tir. No one else. I only expect people to answer if they have played both games and know the character's power levels.

Now, I personally feel that this is a close fight. Both are strong and fast, but Tir has more of an advantage in speed, but he also wears very light armor that is barely enough to keep him alive. However, he has magic, which Lloyd doesn't. Lloyd taught himself how to fight, while Tir was instructed by his father, Teo, who is renowned as one of the greatest warriors and generals of his time. Both managed to defeat (kill, in Tir's case) their fathers in a duel. Lloyd has a very low resistance to magic, and Tir is strong in magic. I think that Tir just has to unload all of his Judgement spells to finish Lloyd. However, if Lloyd gets right in Tir's face, he can knock him over and hit him with Rising Falcoln. Both have a good shot at victory, but it seems more likely for Tir.

EDIT: *sigh* I give up. I'm beginning to think that I'm the only poster here who has played Suikoden.

:headexplo dammit this is between Tir and Lloyd! If you have not played Tales of Symphonia AND/OR Suikoden, then don't bother responding! Stop bringing in other characters! If I wanted them in, I would have put them in!! Stop derailing this with other characters!

Is Suikoden really this unknown?

Take 'er easy there Bane. Deep breaths and all that. I think it's because

1) Pigknight and I are jerks

2) No one knows who the hell Tir is, and probably not Lloyd either (I know Lloyd, but not Tir)

3) There's already waaaay too many of these as it is. I was going to post one (Doubles match! Master Chief and the Arbiter versus Megaman X and Zero), but they're just starting to clutter the place.

If no one KNEW they could have just ignored it. Let the thread die. I deal with *******s IRL who don't give a **** about what I say. I come to the forums TO GET AWAY FROM THAT.

Well, lemme ask you guys this! Why is it that it's MY thread that gets shitted on? HMM? I realized when I posted this that Suikoden was not the most well known game series in the world, but I figured at least ONE ****ING PERSON would be able to contribute to it. So: why not let it die instead? Why do all the other threads get proper responses, yet mine is derailed? WELL?!

you know, looking at this thread, it seems that I'm the only one who has stayed on topic and tried to get people to contribute properly. I may as well just go lock myself in my room, turn up my music full blast, and have a conversation with myself!

Dark_Stryke

Feb 11, 2009 21:39:52
Cause you're the last person I would have figured would be offended by this, because we joke around all the time?

Also, I didn't start being random until I figured the thread was already a bust (and even then, only once!). The SSB comment was somewhat off-topic, but I figured it was all I could contribute at the time, since I've never played Suikoden.

Take it or leave it. I will say that it's a bit silly to get this worked up over something in the OTT. Off Topic is in the name!

Tir has the true rune that governs life and death, were they not concerned with game play balance he should have basically just walked up to the enemy and just killed them all. Lloyd has a couple of swords. Tir wins before Lloyd can even comprehend who he is fighting. True rune wielders are just in a seperate power category from most other RPG characters. I mean true runes are basically the gods of the Suikoden universe.

Yeah, well I'm ****ing sick of no one taking anything I say seriously. And, if you had no idea about Suikoden, you could have said, "Oh, I have no idea what Suikoden is, maybe you should change the participants", I would have! or JUST LET THE THREAD DIE with DIGNITY

Ah! Ranadiel! Thank you! A repsonse that actually has to do with the subject! Also, true rune wielders aren't complete gods, Tir (by canon storyline, I think, can't remember where I read that) barely survives the battle with his father.

I said true runes were the gods, not that the wielders were. :P

Yeah, but the bearer can be killed, quite easily infact. If Gremio hadn't trapped himself in Milich's trap, letting everyone else escape, Tir would have been bug food. Also, the SoD's like Deadly Fingertips and Hell only work against mooks, and Lloyd is strong enough to where only Black Shadow and Judgement will work on him.

IIRC: also, the runes don't have any power without a host.

I'm looking at this from a "not constrained by gameplay balance" point of view. Tir's theoretical power is a lot higher than balance would allow. A better exampe is in the beginning of the game when Ted uses the Soul Eater to kill off the bug....whatever that the party is fighting because it is too strong for them.

And true runes do have power without a host, look at the emperor rune and the true beast rune. Both of them are used when they aren't attatched to anyone. True runes just normally lack the sentience required to actively use their powers normally. However they are still the sources of whatever their domains of influence are.

Lloyd wins.

Simply because he has one of my swords.

On the other hand, Ranadiel has a point.

True. I did forget about that. Yeah, Ted just got to go "BAM!" and nuke him. Hmm. I s'pose I'll post a more balanced fight with Tir involved.

Tsk tsk, Suikoden is a lot less known than FF and the like, but that doesn't make it less of a timeless classic. Some of you should brush up on your google-fu skills ;) Yeah, I'm quite a fan, I even use "Tenkai" as a character name sometimes.

I think it would be quite a hard fight. Tir's Soul Eater is a truly great advantage, but even though he has fought some great duels against the generals, I always saw him as a leader of people, first and foremost (108 stars). So I wonder if that has changed his solo fighting style somewhat.
BTW wouldn't he have to knock out (at least) Gremio first? :P It can be quite difficult to get a good 1 vs 1 when your party members are willing and determined to die for you.

You know, that gives me an even better idea for a versus thread. But maybe I should wait a day or two to let most of the others slide off a little.
