Sep 30, 2008 14:07:35 This was a pretty great season, methinks. While I am a Giants fan, and my team did not do well, I had a great time watching the new team progress and watching the enigma that is Tim Lincecum.

Around the league there were a lot of surprises: the Tigers sucked, the Yankees sucked, Boston didn't win the AL East, who the hell is Tampa Bay?, and let's of course not forget the Cubs. It breaks my heart to see the Dodgers go to the playoffs, but it is cool seeing Manny wear something other than a Red Sox uniform.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on this year's playoff situation? I am hoping to see a Cubs/Angels World Series. I am also a Twins fan, so hopefully they will beat the White Sox today . . .

Sep 30, 2008 17:10:50 My team, the Indians had a hugely disappointing season. They did finish strong, though. Considering where they were in July, making it to .500 was a rather bearable way to finish up.

As far as the playoffs, I'd like to see a Tampa Bay/Chicago World Series. It would be a helluva a story no matter who wins.

Oct 01, 2008 11:16:21 It will be interesting to see how the Brewers are going to manage their pitching staff. Sheets is out and they won't be able to use Sabathia for game 1.

I was disappointed that Minnesota didn't win. I really wanted them to go to the playoffs. they got kinda screwed with where they had to play. they had the best record between them (Twins vs WS) so they should have had home field advantage. Leave it to Bud to leave it up to a coin toss instead of record.

I was disappointed that Minnesota didn't win. I'm an Angels fan(I live around 5 minuts from the stadium.) I also wanted to see Minnesota win. Mostly becuase I can't stand that A.J. Pierzynski

If big John Lackey can pitch well to night, they'll beat Boston. The Angels handed it to them this year.

I am upset about the rule that it comes to a coin flip for the tie breaking game when one team had the better record and should have earned home field advantage for that game. I would feel the same way about this rule if the Twins had won btw. But the Twins weren't expected to do anything this season with our losses in the offseason so it was still a good season.

Actually, it wasn't Selig. That has always been the rule and ever since the first one-game playoff in 1948 (which the Indians won ) it has been decided that way.

Oct 01, 2008 23:21:53 Ever since my Royals were eliminated from the playoffs (long ago, I know) I've been rooting for the Rays. I can't stand Red Sox fans, it would be perversely funny for the Cubs to go more than 100 years without a championship, and Ozzie Guillen is unbearable.

It also appears that the Angels are going to get swept too, I would have thought they would have figured out how to beat the red Sox by now. It'll probably end up a Dodgers Red Sox series, but here is to hoping it is not. Or if it is, that the dodgers beat the Sox in 4. The only thing worse than a Red Sox fan is a Yankee fan.... maybe. :D

That used to be the case. But between the recent success of the Red Sox, Patriots and now the Celtics, Boston fans as a collective group have become worse. The irony is that Red Sox fans hated Yankee fans for what they were; arrogant and with a sense that they are ENTITLED to championships and now, they are worse than Yankee fans ever were.
