You saved me, my Mommy & my Daddy (Com. Gordon). But why does everyone hate the Batman now? I'll save you Batman! Holy boy wonder, could it be Robin who saves the day? Don't be surprised if we see the troubled-some teen of Com. Gordon side with Batman to become Robin.
Oh, and "My wife always wanted me to smile...". Hmmm, is he telling the truth or lying? I foresee, near the end of #3... a Mrs. Joker, or Harlequin? "I told you to watch out for my wife. She's the jealous type!"

If I remember correctly, that was Sal Maroni. In the comics, Sal Maroni is responsible for Two-Faces disfigurement by throwing acid on this face during a criminal trial.

Yea, thats a dangling thread that needs to be addressed. I wouldn't consider him the Riddler though.
I'd rather see the Riddler as someone who interested in an intellectual challenge toward Batman. As the Joker/Batman relationship was Order Vs Chaos, The Riddler should be a Battle of the minds.

I believe Nolen and Bale said they wouldn't have a Robin while their involved with the franchise.

That's what I was going to say. Fairly subtle.
Considering the the storylines the Long Halloween (and Dark Victory) has been the inspiration for the films, I think we may either see a "resurrected" Two-Face, The Hangman, and/or Catowman (especially with the reference by Lucius).
In The Dark Knight, Reese (the Riddler) discovers that Bruce is the Batman. He thinks the Batman is a criminal, so gets to a television spot to reveal the Batman's identity, but the Joker doesn't want to ruin his fun so wants him dead by the people of Gotham. People in the streets and even a cop at his guard tries to kill him. And Bruce Wayne saves him.
In film 3, Reese is in a great mind dilemma. On one side, he wants Batman to get arrested, but on the other Bruce saved him. Not knowing what to do, he evacuates his confusion and rage against the people of Gotham that wanted his death. So he starts robbing some things, making prisoners and kill a few on his way. At the same time, he lays down a trail of riddles to help out the police find who is Batman, think that it's Batman who does the crimes and safeguard his own identity, since it's quite easy for all Gotham to figure out that Reese/The Riddler might be the only one who knows who's Batman.
Maybe, at some point, even commissioner Gordon might think Batman is out of his mind and killing the wrong people.
Maybe one of the reason that the Riddler started killing people is because of the Joker (a bit how Harvey Dent became Two-Face) or by Harlequin's manipulation, or a bit of Scarecrow's toxin.
