| #2BilopTheFleshwarperNov 14, 2010 8:58:45 | welcome to the internet! |
| #3boondockerNov 14, 2010 9:32:07 | That's called a 'brace,' by the way. |
| #4QubeNov 14, 2010 9:44:48 | Rules of the internet "rule 29. On the internet, all girls are men, and all kids are undercover FBI agents." |
| #5atrociousDMNov 14, 2010 10:13:43 | That is not the first time, and that will not be the last one. On internet everyone can mask identity behind one or many mask. They can claim to be a boy or a girl, Man or Woman. While I understand that you got a bit of a shock, I don't see where the scam was? |
| #6DunariaNov 14, 2010 10:18:38 | [spoiler]That is not the first time, and that will not be the last one. On internet everyone can mask identity behind one or many mask. They can claim to be a boy or a girl, Man or Woman. I might not have the same definition or translation of scam than orignal word I was thinking in french.. Let's say in other words:
|
| #7theycallmetomurebornNov 14, 2010 10:19:42 | That hardly counts as a scam. |
| #8vampire_batNov 14, 2010 10:23:20 | So they took the ops advice not to share real information more literally. |
| #9NyarlathotepNov 14, 2010 10:28:10 | That hardly counts as a scam. It might be the closest word that someone for whom English is not their first language (which the OP says is the case) could come up with. It's also not incorrect in a technical sense, its just that common usuage tends to imply a financial element, which this admittedly lacks. A distinction that a non-native speaker could easily miss. It could also have been the early part of a scam, the set-up as it were. Though more rare than Nigerian 419 scams, 'freindship scams' where someone pretends to be a hard presssed member of the opposite sex who really, really likes you but alas lives in a foreign country (often Russia) and would like to come visit you but can't afford it...so please send them money. Any site where you can get messages of any sort are common places to get messages that start those scams. I have gotten two or three on this site, in fact. |
| #10idhrinielNov 14, 2010 14:14:39 | Rules of the internet So you're saying I'm a male FBI agent? Eesh, that's a rough stereotype. ! |
| #11EscherEnigmaNov 14, 2010 14:17:47 | Don't worry Idh, we won't tell Pig you're secretly a 40-year old FBI agent posting from his office in Detroit. |

| #13boraxeNov 14, 2010 14:33:21 | So you're saying I'm a male FBI agent? Eesh, that's a rough stereotype. Whatever you say, sir. |
| #14idhrinielNov 14, 2010 14:38:40 | Seriously, I can't be the only 16-yr-old girl on these forums. Yikes. |
| #15EscherEnigmaNov 14, 2010 15:03:12 | Seriously, I can't be the only 16-yr-old girl on these forums. Yikes. Exactly. You're not the only 16-year old girl 'round here, 'cause there aren't any. That's how it works. |
| #16idhrinielNov 14, 2010 15:05:12 | Yea, just like how there's no such thing as an illegal in this country. Yeesh. s anyone? |
| #17EscefNov 14, 2010 15:24:31 | I thought it was women are men, men are boys, and boys are FBI agents? Sort of like the rule for the women (theoretically) on the internet: attractive, sane, or single; pick 2. |
| #18idhrinielNov 14, 2010 15:28:45 | ...what if none of those really apply? |
| #19fsjalNov 14, 2010 15:53:11 | [fake woman voice]I am a lonely girl looking for a good time. Can anyone help me? (unfortunately not fake high voice) 6 year-old girl WHO IS DEFINITELY NOT A POLICEMAN looking for a good time |
| #20Robin_HoodlumNov 14, 2010 16:03:07 | {slight lisping voice of dirty old man} "Get yo' ass over here boy..." |
| #21EscherEnigmaNov 14, 2010 16:07:58 | Sort of like the rule for the women (theoretically) on the internet: attractive, sane, or single; pick 2. Makes me think of the joke about finding an SO1 here at Tech2... "A pulse, female, and human. You only get two out of three." ________ 1Significant Other and/or Sex Object. 2New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, AKA New Mexico Tech AKA Tech. |
| #22pigknightNov 14, 2010 16:45:51 | Seriously, I can't be the only 16-yr-old girl on these forums. Yikes. I'm a 16 year old girl too! I'm just so lonely and need someone to come overhere and share some cookies with me. |
