That is not the first time, and that will not be the last one. On internet everyone can mask identity behind one or many mask. They can claim to be a boy or a girl, Man or Woman.
Today I found someone ( i will not show thier identity even if it's fake ) who claimed to be a woman in 30th ish old than DMing D&D . It's been about two weeks I added her/him into my friend and msn list.
We have so far only talking about Dungeon dragon 3.5 vs 4e mostly and some little info about our past about the whole game and she share about 15ish picture into two seperate gallery. She had pretty good damn background story.
This morning 14th November 2010 she was talking about knee pain and I told her about my ( I don't know the word in english sorry ) and showing her/him to MSN Video via web Cam.
Guest what, I SAW a OLD man 40~ + with white/gray hair in can video. 10 sec later he gave a slap to his web cam or moveing /pointing somewhere else.
That is pretty far away from the 30th ish years old Woman than I receive on Picture.
Btw there is no msn bug so far than show distortion picture than make appear as another one.

Well Let me laught about all this.
Naturally , I dropped friend ship and msn as well.
So far I got no fraud about that. I always be polite and try protect myself again " poeple " than I don't know in real life.
I don't know the true identity of this person. Certainly that is NOT the woman dm claimed to be. Even she/he know pretty well 3.5 rules.
A word of Advice for everyone in community. Don't share any personnal info about yourself , Real name / Real last name. Adresse or Phone to E-Friend. You never know who is the other one behind the screen.
This is real storry happened arround 9h00 am this morning

While I understand that you got a bit of a shock, I don't see where the scam was?
I might not have the same definition or translation of scam than orignal word I was thinking in french..
Let's say in other words:
- When you get confident than your IDEA or Status or General ideafew exemple( Sex , age average ( young or young adult or older or elder age, and social status child / single / parrents / Grand parrents etc ).
That hardly counts as a scam.
It might be the closest word that someone for whom English is not their first language (which the OP says is the case) could come up with. It's also not incorrect in a technical sense, its just that common usuage tends to imply a financial element, which this admittedly lacks. A distinction that a non-native speaker could easily miss.
It could also have been the early part of a scam, the set-up as it were. Though more rare than Nigerian 419 scams, 'freindship scams' where someone pretends to be a hard presssed member of the opposite sex who really, really likes you but alas lives in a foreign country (often Russia) and would like to come visit you but can't afford it...so please send them money. Any site where you can get messages of any sort are common places to get messages that start those scams. I have gotten two or three on this site, in fact.
