Being banned

So I got banned from the white wolf forums the other day for a simple infraction. We where talking about the religion of ancient rome and someone said "Your GOD is anathema because he has done evil things". I posted that their deity had done evil things and was therefore an evil GOD. They then said that their GOD is above morality. I was the one being banned. Where they justified?

I think both sides should have been banned. But if you have an issue with their moderation, perhaps you should take it up with them.

Does he, do you, do they? What about me? Starting at post #5 this is totally useless...and enjoyable. Please continue in the same vein Maybe we can talk more about not answering his question, I love meta-talk.

@EvilleKnight: Btw posters #2 & 4 have the right answer: contact forum authorities using the method described in their Forum Q&A or the Contact Us section. If they have no contact method, well, don't go back there, it's shoddy service coupled with quick trigger finger, creating a monster.

A few weeks ago I was talking to a friend of mine that had twins about this time last year.  She was talking about how it's adorable watching them play with anything, because they'll be constantly fighting over who gets to have the toy.  If you give them two identical toys, they'll constantly be swapping them as they think their brother has the better toy, right up until their brother is now holding the toy they held.  Apparently they just go back and forth, endlessly.

You two kinda remind me of that.

That is standard policy in the florida school board. If one kid hits another, thats a fight. Anyone who is involved in a fight is punished. Basically if someone attacks you, the teacher will give you two choices, pretend it didnt happen, or have detention with the person who did it.

You have 87 posts. 80% of them would have to be nothing but closeup pictures of your dick to get you banned, and even then, you'd probably have to post them somewhere other than the tavern. Mabey Astrids? Yeah, that sounds like a good place to get banned by posting grotuitous **** photos...

Yes.
Anarchy dosn't work, because people are inherently bad.
Government dosn't work because the people who run government are more interested in avoiding dealing with problems then in helping anyone.

We are all screwed, might as well laugh it up while we can.

No.

When problems arise goverments will A) Sweep it under the rug and pretend it isn't there or B) Pretend to take steps to reach a solution without actually fixing it. Looking like your fixing a problem is better than fixing it because it uses peoples desire to keep you in power instead of their appreciation (which is far, far more fickle. Because people suck.)

Edit: Also, actually fixing a problem will make someone angry.

But isn't the reason for not actually fixing the problem that they can remain doing their comfy politician jobs with good pay instead of having to get an actual job?

That's the feeling I get from most established politicians anyway. It's not that they don't want to do anything, it's just that if it might cost them their votes, they're not going to do it, because being in the chamber is much more important then actually doing what the party stands for :/

There is such a thing as using the Report button as a weapon.  I've had it done to me.  The mods, then, may have thought that was happening and then banned the 'offending' party.  They don't like it when people report stuff to get people in trouble - that's not what Report is for.  I'm not saying thay's what happened, of course, cuz I have no idea what was reported, when or why, but this is a possibility.  People abuse Report, the mods don't like it.

Kinda?

The problem with community mods is they are people, with their own prejudices and their own interpretation of the rules.

My original account here was perma-banned cos a mod took a disliking to me.

For 4 years I posted here with no issues. I had WizOs (predecessors of the ORCs) send me PMs and emails thanking me for my input and efforts to calm situations, was e-pen pals with several WizOs and one of the WotC staffers (who used to quote a line of mine to her staff to keep up moral), and even had one WizO encourage me to become a apply to become one myself. When the owner of my FLGS went to WotC headquarters he mentioned I was a frequent poster to the forums and apparently they were well aware of me (in a good way).

Then along comes a new mod, one who admitted many times that his "interpretation" of the rules was not the actual rules as written, and within a month or so he suspended me three times and perma-banned me. Not surprisingly, he didn't last long at the job but the damage was done.

Your complicating it and oversimplifying it at the same time. You are only considering one type of government, first off. Secondly, even in an absolute monarchy many things that could be fixed are not, for a variety of reasons. Mostly because people suck.

I remember that, it's one of the reasons I don't report anymore (not that I did much before, but now it's a principle). It just increased flamewars and made civil conversations so much harder, the exact opposite of what moderation is supposed to do. I'm glad the mods actually recognized that problem, but it's a shame if honest reporting gets mistaken for it.

And I am not talking about a certain "man" who is on mission to make us accept sexual practices that are against the law of God. Noble soldiers like Robin_Hoodlum and Escef should be our examples as OTTers. They should be a minimum really.

Gentlemen, I salute you.

I'm not sure if RH's guess is right. The screenname is familiar but I think spelled differently than a user I've seen elsewhere. If he is right, imitating someone else is definitely a CoC violation.

However, I am uncertain and so will leave this unreported. However, I will say that calling out the man you refer to in your post is not a real good idea.

I have my own guess as to who you are and that is that goldo and SeventhSolitude and this new incarnation are all the same. Now that I think about it, I don't understand why I didn't see it sooner but leaving out the Koran stuff threw me off.

Understood, I was just thinking the tactics are similar. Goldo and SeventhSolitude both took a dislike to one single poster, you and RH respectively, and then decided to harass said poster. The similarities is what gave me the idea, though I admit, I'm probably wrong.

I've said before that I don't report on principle, and that still goes for actual opinions, no matter how offensive they are, even the supremacy crap that seems to have become popular lately. However, until someone actually digs up a quote of me calling myself a communist (from a thread where I didn't specify that by the same standards that make president Obama a socialist, the whole of Scandinavia is communist), I'll start to make those reports.
