This fight is Diablo (from the Blizzard series) against The Incredible Hulk.
*This is a best of 3 fight, with the first round taking place in Hell, the second in the New Mexican desert, and the final round (if neccessary) will be in a neutral battlefield ala Final Destination.
*Current power levels of the combatants are: Gladiator Hulk as of World War Hulk and Hell difficulty Diablo as of Diablo II.
*NO ALLIES-Both fighters are lone wolfing it, no Lesser/Greater Evils and no Avengers/Warbound. (I noticed some other fights were adding teammates)

Go! Go! Go!

Well, in light of recent animated movies, I'm going to go with the Hulk - I mean, he's taken on Wolverine and all of Weapon X and kicked all their buts, then got summoned to Asgard, verily kicking Thor's arse. Not to mention pretty much every other deity in Asgard - barring Odin since he was in the Odinsleep.

Really - Diablo doesn't stand a chance. Hulk will just get angrier and angrier until he either rips Diablo apart with his bare hands, or gets so angry he wraps around to wuss and turns into Bill Bixby

Very important question: Which Diablo game are we talking about?

The Diablo from the first game is a very different fight than in the second game.

Diablo I: My money would be on the Hulk. The Youngest Prime Evil is simply too squishy to stand up to Mr. Green for very long, and has no special tricks to save his butt.

Diablo II: This would be a much closer fight. Diablo's red Lightning Breath and devastating Fire Nova would be highly detrimental to anyone's health, no matter how big, green, and radioactive they are. The teleporting, I think, would be the biggest advantage for our giant abyssal antagonist, since although The Hulkster is quick on his feet, he could have a tough time keeping up with instantaneous translocation.

The op said D2, sorry if that wasn't clearer
I have a feeling that the red lightning of DOOM would be very detrimental to the Jade Giant, it literally rends your soul apart.
However, the Hulk has been shown to be able to stand up (and overcome) most magical and psionic opponents through sheer strength and willpower, he's like the poster-boy for melee characters :D

Well, im going to work off a diffrent premise. Diablo 1 diablo. Hulk kills him, and Bruce Banner begins wandering the country side, as he often does. Trajedy follows in his wake, even more than usuall. Before long his thoughts turn darker, and his temper gets harder and harder to controll. Bruce loses the second fight, as diablo slowly takes over his soul. The Diablo-Hulk proves too powerfull for all the champions of the mortal realm. He slays his brother Baal, and rips a hole into the mortal realm unleashing demons upon the earth in mass before destroying mount arreat single handedly in a fit of rage.

depends... does Diablo have his soulstone intact or not?

if this is Diablo pre-soulstone being destroyed... victory Diablo. he keeps coming back until Hulk cannot take it anymore, or worse... he takes over the Hulk like he did with the hero at the end of D1. at this point Diablo wins. period.

if this is post-soulstone being destroyed, Hulk wins.

I dont know about that oxybe. Diablo has all eternity, regeneration, and infinte bone cages. He could just keep teleporting and makeing bone cages till Hulk gets bored, and bruce falls asleep. Then step on him.
#10

oxybe

Feb 20, 2009 12:46:25
well, this is area-style combat, so teleporting allows him some escape, but he has to fight eventually.

the bone cages should be a VERY minor speedbump for hulk at best.

the red lighting can be a pain but is very "run away able" and it leaves Big D open for attacks of the "imma hurling some rubble/dumpster/ect..." kind.

his fire spells (nova, wall & storm) can be pretty brutal, but like the lightning, they are "run away able" (or in the nova's case, "hide-behind-stuff able").

remember that this is World War Hulk. this is a smart Hulk, not a big dumb brute. once he learns that most of Diablo's abilities can be avoided by a quick dash and that they leave him a sitting duck, Diablo is in trouble.

I'd give this to Hulk. I mean, the guy can hold a mountain range. It'll take just one punch for him to down Diablo.

The Diablo Clone or Uber Diablo, however, wipe the floor with any version of Hulk short of Red Hulk. Mostly, it's down Diablo's side. If he's at his strongest, he wins, otherwise he'll lose in a spectacular fashion.

The arena thing was never stated. First fight can range all over hell. Second fight is somewhat smaller, but still miles wide with lots of broken sight ranges.

I'm sorry, I dont know one Hulk from another. Thus I'll have to leave the divination of the Hulks tactical planning skills to others whom are more knowledgable on the the subject.

This is just a lot cooler if Bruce Banner becomes the next dark wanderer and we get some kind of green dhiabulko. Actually, I never got to uber-tristram, was Uber-Diablo possibly green?

Anyway, if we are talking World War Hulk and the Lord of Hatred... both these guys got some serious armies going on. Both are powerhouses and all but to take their minions out of the mix kind of dumbs things down

Also, I think the Diablo from the first game was way harder than the 2nd one. Not just because of all the minions, but didn't he have apocalypse? That was a killer spell, didn't it go through walls?

I'm sorry, letting the hulk fight diablo is just a really bad idea. Don't make new diablo angry, you wouldnt like new diablo when he is angry. The demon lord of terror growing 6 sizes and becoming indestructable whenever he gets angry is not what that world, or any other, needs.

Hulk vs. Diablo?

Uh, Hulk wins. Why? Because Hulk is the good guy and Diablo is the bad guy, and both the Hulk comics and the Diablo games follow the ol' fashioned "good triumphs over evil" motif.

Of course, then Blizzard makes another Diablo game and it's revealed that Diablo is somehow back and better then ever, with Hulk either killed offscreen or something else horrible happening to him.

And then Joe Quesada does a stupidly big crossover even in which Hulk is saved, but screws with all the actually interesting plotlines running at the time.

And then Blizzard doesnt' release a new game for a decade.

... I think that, with all that considered, the end result is that the readers and players lose.

Diablo's comeback is too bad ass to be hand waived as "somehow". Perhapes you are not aware of it, but it serves as the basis for my point so I shall eleaborate.

Hulk smashes Diablo. He win, eventually, because he never ****ing looses (God Mode much Hulk?) Bruce Banner stagers out of the wreckage and escapes back out onto the streets. Because he never can be held. (God Mode much Dr. Banner?) He starts having nightmares, waking up in strange places, surrounded by wreckage, you know, more often than he's used too. He begins having dark thoughts while he is awake, and starts to experience physical cahnges. Mabey he thinks this is a new manifestation of his condition, or mabey he recogonizes it as somethig more, something diffrent. Either way, it dosn;t matter. The change continues and soon, he dosnt want it to stop. He's no longer himself. He's someone else, something else. He is Diablo. And should he ever get mad, hes Diablo-Hulk. And the world does not need that. So never, ever, let the Hulk fight Diablo. No.

Unless I am mistaken there are some storylines where Hulk doesn't change back into Bannor. He is Hulk and genius scientist at the same time. I believe such is the case for World War Hulk which is the Hulk being used by the OP. I think. I could be wrong on this.

So, I am not sure about the Banner weakness in this case...

It's not a 'Banner Weakness'. If Hulk is Hulk all the time, that just means that Diablo-Hulk is Diablo-Hulk all the time. Constantly the cheif prime evil, lord of terror, and a completly unstopable smashing engine. More reason to make sure such a fight never happens.

Dosn't matter. Diablo dies, then takes Hulk as his new host, becoming ever more powerfull. I think that is why Diablo always makes himself easy to find, and never tires to escape. All the pretencies at defense are just to weed out the weaklings so that whomever manages to get to him is stronger than his current host was when it bested him. Thats why the other demons exiled him instead of killing him, they got tired of being possessed and decided to just try and cage him in an innecessable part of the world.

Wait a minute. In OP it was stated that Diablo was Hell Difficulty and now he's only Nightmare Strength.

I've rethought my previous thoughts on the matter.

Whenever the Hulk fights Superman, the Man of Steel knocks out our jolly green friend before he gets strong enough to do more than bloody up our flying x-ray visioned protagonist.

So I would have to say, that Diablo would use his Chaos Lightning attack and fry the Hulk in the first round. However, the Hulk has proven to be quite resilient to damage.

Diablo would seek to expand his power and somehow cross over into the Marvel Universe where by happy coincidence he finds himself in the New Mexico desert.

Hulk would remember the lightning attack and so would choose to keep his distance and throw mountain sized boulders at the Lord of Terror until the Lord of Terror was trapped beneath them.

Then in the final round, Diablo would send his telepathy out from his tomb and lure our jolly green hero back into the labrinthine rocky tomb. Hulk would find Diablo's apparently lifeless body.

Dr. Banner would know that the soul stone needs to be destroyed but since Hulk doesn't have the Hellforge or the Hammer the Hulk would jam the soul stone into his forehead and from here on I am in complete agreement with ToastedAmphibian.

Eh. Once Diablo has possessed the Hulk he's either crossed over into Earth 616, or into some parallel universe. Now, if he's in a universe OTHER then 616 then he's good, 'cause that's where all the truely bad stuff happens, like when Marvel did their whole "Marvel Zombie" thing. At that point Diablo-Hulk is going to win.

Now, if Diablo-Hulk gets into Earth 616 then he's screwed, because then he falls under the narrative conventions of that Earth which means that sooner or later some heroes are going to beat him up and exorcise him so the Hulk can go back to being the Hulk (he has his own comic line after all, they can't permanently change him that much). If he's lucky Diablo will get to go into someone else and will stick around for a while and maybe even get his own character, but more then likely some sort of Deus Ex Machina (possibly provided by Richards, Stark, Xavier, or Dr. Strange) will utterly depower him as far as Marvel is concerned, possibly with him going back to his own universe with his tail between his legs.

So here's to hoping it's not 616 Hulk, but from one of the parallel universes no one cares about that doesn't have to live by status quo.

Not a problem.

Forgember did bring up a good point though. Perhaps Diablo would not be able to possess the Hulk. After all, when Diablo tried to possess King Leoric the Lord of Terror was unable to do so and so drove the king insane.

Still, a Hulk that is driven insane is still a major problem for the world at large. Sooooo, Diablo still wins.
