If you haven't heard of it yet, I highly suggest picking up a book called Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.
My wife jsut finished it and couldn't put it down.  I started reading it at lunch (at work) and didn't want to stop.
Here's the basics:
Future world, everyone logs into a virtual reality MMO.  The creator of this game set up some quests and you win a ton of money if you solve the quest.  More importantly, the quests are about 80's themed things.  Lots of 80's pop culture references and a lot of other gaming references too.  Several D&D references in the first 30 or so pages.

I've only read a few chapters so far, but it's well written.  Not your typical Sci-Fi or Fantasy story, more like a coming of age fiction story with some "adventure" built in.

If anyone else has read it, let me know what you think.  I'll probably finish by this weekend.
