Can I get internet on a desktop through my laptop's wifi?

Aug 15, 2009 20:07:03 The reason I got a laptop originally was to save space and avoid the cord running through my apartment by wifi. Now that my laptop's gone to crap and I've gotten some more insight on the limitations of a laptop, I'm thinking about flat out replacing it with a bargain desktop I found. I want to still avoid having the cord run through my apartment, and still want internet, so I'm wanting to know if it's possible to hook up a desktop to a laptop in a way that I can get internet to my desktop through my laptop's wifi.

Aug 15, 2009 20:20:03 Not sure what you mean... of course it's possible to hook a desktop computer up to wifi. My wifi is connected to a main computer, and from there, we can hook up whatever the Hell we want to the wireless.

Aug 15, 2009 20:38:25 Yes there should be an option in sharing or something where you can allow other computers to access the the internet through the computer.

Try going to network connetions/properties/Sharing tab.
There should a option there for you to allow other computers on your network to connect through your computer.

Note: I have never tried this so you might have to conect between the to devices first.

But it'd probably be easier to pick up a $20 wireless card for your desktop and do it that way instead.
