#7 Jharii Aug 23, 2011 15:52:54	There's Chad the entertainer and Chad the human being.  There was an ESPN special about him a few months ago, where he was trying out for a professional soccer team.  His athleticism was apparent, but he just didn't have quite the skills needed to make the team.  He was so devastated he was in tears. If that is all I ever knew about the man, that is all I would ever need to know.  He leads with his heart and everything else follows, even his Ochocinco persona.

The "Ochocinco" thing irritates me so much.  Why the heck did he decide that his last name was going to be "Eightfive"?  On the bright side, I've heard that he's thinking about changing it back to Johnson.

I think that the way how football teams are funded disallows that. There is a salary cap for the team if I remember correctly.
#12 Count_Von_CoC Aug 23, 2011 23:40:28	I could be misremembering things here but the two cities hate each other. Nearly as much as Oak, and SF. Actually there might even be county lines between the two; but I'm not sure as I'm a CA native. An entire state, actually.  Cincy is in the SW corner of Ohio; Cleveland is in the NE corner.  Cleveland is a LOT closer to Buffalo than it is to Cincinnati.

I only know cuz I happened to catch them humiliating Michigan in the semi when I was drinking one day - about the only way I'll watch soccer.  You know, half in the bag and with Michigan losing.  ;)  Since it was to see who played for the championship, I made sure to read about it after it was played.  Not that I needed to since it was on the front page of the Akron Beacon Journal, go figure.  When they played Stanford that year (or was it the year before?) I actually saw Stanford's team in a restaurant.  They showed up hungry and barely announced.  And my party happened to have the entire area they needed full of people.  We weren't too distressed about keeping them up late.  As, a former native of Ohio. That hasn't lived there for most of their life, I have to ask. Cuz even if you pooled the teams you still wouldn't have one that could compete in the division.  Plus it seems like Cleveland is heading in a good direction and Cincy will always suffer from its ownership so I'd rather they not.  And then there's the 'Battle of Ohio' which we have in baseball and football to consider.  People like that rivalry stuff even when it doesn't matter.  I could be misremembering things here but the two cities hate each other. I realize that his number is 85, and I realize what it's supposed to signify.  But it doesn't.  I'd be less chapped if he'd chaned it to "Ochentaycinco".
#16 zombie_babies Aug 25, 2011 8:45:29	But people say numbers like that all the time in English.  Saying 'eight five' for 85 or 'one seven' for 17 is a common thingy.  I mean, it's still stupid he actually changed his name legally an' all that, but I think that was a different Chad.  He actually seems like he may have matured a little.  Suffering in Cincy (Dear Abby) may have taken some of the idiot out of him - not any of the fun, though.
