Meh. "only one kick" is kind of a stupid rule to have. I'm pretty sure I saw people giving more than one kick through the whole thing, that there was a stupid ass rule that says only one kick never occurred to me.

Personally I found it more impressive the guys/girls that could do the dolphin thing longer than the others.  It showed more conditioning and balance.

Yeah it's a stupid idea to prevent people from using swimming techniques other than the breaststroke in the 100 meter breaststroke. Like why can't someone just do the dolphin kick thingy the whole time, which is a faster swimming technique? makes no sense.

And supposedly this dude wasn't the only one to cheat. Just the one who did it the most during the run and got the biggest benefit from it.

What's more impressive is how bad the judges at the Olympic games are, but then again it kinda justifies why nobody should care about it. Especially with regards to things like swimming.

edit:

ok i find it amusing that instead of forcing people to have to swim properly (not form their own style that gives them an unfair advantage by giving them an illegal kick on the turn) and being more strict with judging they instead allow people to do the kick which instead incuraged people to try and sneak in an extra kick or two. and to make things worse it seems judges dont know the differences between 1 and 3.

Pretty sure you run out of momentum fairly quickly after springing from the wall with the dolphin kick thing.

(It's been about ten years since I swam frequently so my memory is fairly foggy on that)

The whole point of the dolphin kick thing is to maximize your forward momentum after you spring off the wall.

And, it's not like it is really going to impact things, as I didn't see very many people not doing it. They literally all did as far as I could see.
