Yeah, is there anyone who still believes that the TSA actually works?

Yeah, not even the government thinks the TSA works. They are cutting the funding. The fact that its measurable that the TSA doesn't work should be a clue. All of the new security features the TSA has added has only increased the accuracy of stopping people from getting through by 1%. Not worth the millions of dollars they are pouring into glorified security guards with more power than police or federal agents (Pat downs are only legal during arrests).

Well I don't think funding is a good indicator of work. The entire DoD is already cutting its budget and its hard to argue that soldiers aren't doing any work. I also see organizations get lots of funding (like JIEDDO) with very little to show for it.

Not that I'm arguing in favor of TSA. Their training is crap and that's compounded by the fact that most of them just don't give a ****.

Not true. Federal employees can be fired. There's just so much red tape that even in cases when they pose a safety concern to those around them it's easier to just deal with them or move them to a different position than it is to fire them.

I thought the proper term was "burn".
