Yeah, looks like we may actually see a few in a few years.  'Course they'll cost $100k, require a flight plan and major regulatory changes need to be made before they're even able to fly in more populated areas, but hell.  Jetpacks, man.  Jetpacks.

They've exsisted for a good while.

Good to see they've finally gone commercial though.

Can you imagine the insurance cost for owning one of those?

They cost 100,000 a piece: I doubt the likes of you or I need to give much consideration to the ancilliary costs of ownership.

True, but the insurance must be monstrous...

Meh, if some lady hears something that sounds like, oh I dunno, a jetpack hovering outside her window, she'll likely investigate.  I just don't think something of this nature will be really conducive to peeping.

Hell yes. This is going on my "I will never own this, but I'll still dream about it." list.

Without a mechanism to silence/disrupt the sound waves from the engines, using a jetpack is inefficient as a close range reconnaissance device. Also your behaviour might become obvious when you're hovering in place near a window with your hand on your crotch. The humans below that notice you might report you to the local authorities whom may or may not have jetpacks of their own.

I think some authorities are on the short list for this tech.  Like, they get to buy it first.  I'm not sure the hand on crotch issue would be an issue, though.  I mean, if we can make jetpacks, I'm pretty sure we can come up with some sort of machine to make that activity hands free.  Sure that would take some of the romance out of it, but that beats gettin' caught hands down.  If ya wanna take that last part of that last statement there as a childish pun, by all means ...

I dunno... I think that, as a man, if I found someone playing peeping tom, I'd probably be a bit flattered.  I'd still threaten them with a shotgun, but still, flattery where you can get it, ya know?

Honestly,I would probably just assume they are casing my home in preparation for some burgling. Perhapes I just how a low estimation of my sex appeal, but I'm sure the idea that they just wanted to see me in the buff would never cross my mind.

They may not require insurance. Here in Florida motorcycle drivers/riders aren't required to have insurance. If you think about it, you are pretty likely to die in a motorcycle accident. I used to work as a Fire Rescue Dispatcher in Miami and every time we received a call that there was a motorcycle accident, the person would die. It was usually bad enough that after the body was taken by the rescue unit, I had to dispatch an engine to wash down the street. People tend to smear across the street when they crash on motorcycles, leaving behind a good amount of blood (and a lot of times body parts).

I would imagine a crash in one of these jet packs would require of a special rescue unit equipped with a dust pan, broom, and a bucket to pick up whatever is left of the pilot.

That's funny, someone wanting to see you naked hasn't crossed your mind, but a guy flying around in a $100,000.00 jet pack wanting to steal from you has?

Isn't one of the reasons you get insurance to pay for the damage you do to others with your crash? Dead or not, there might still be someone else involved that could be seriously hurt, and it would kinda suck for him if you didn't have insurance.

That's why you get insurance while you are still alive, so that even if you die, the person who'se life you just ruined, at least gets something to keep going.

If you don't care about what happens to people after you die, you qualify as an egocentrical ****.

Such conviction... rawr...
Seriously though, if you put yourself in a situation in which your personal safety is greatly diminished, chances are you don't care about ruining someone else's life. Sure, we can argue about whether it is right or wrong to ride a motorcycle without insurance. We can argue about how much of an egocentric **** a person who does so is. In the end, what will that achieve? Not much. You telling me that a person who does that is an egocentric **** is completely pointless... I drive a Nissan Sentra. Besides, my comment was aimed at RH's comment about insurance. If motorcycle drivers aren't required to have insurance, chances are the same reasoning may be used to not require insurance for jet pack pilots.

It might achieve little. But they will still be egocentric ****.  I wasn't calling you one. But if someone goes about not caring about the lives of other people, regardless of wether or not that person is reducing his/her personal safety, he/she is an egocentric ****.

Also, I think it's stupid that a motor cycle rider doesn't need to be insured, but that's truly another discussion. (Also one that I don't think is true in Europe, or at least where I live)

Mabey I'm filthy rich. Mabey I was responding to EE who was speaking in the general case of a peeping Tom, and not the specific, hasn't yet ever been likely to happen, case of a jetpack peeping Tom.

I'm not seeing what there is to be confused about by the quoted text. He applied a lable to a broad yet specific group of people. Is he applying that label to you? If you fall in that group, then yes, else no.

Then again I also call myself an **** sometimes so I guess it's not the end of the world or anything. Like Escher_Enigma said, I'm needlessly judgemental, and pretty harsh on people, including myself.

I'm affraid that might exceed weight limits. Besides, we would mostly cater to drunk people who want to maintain their reputation.

Leaving the bar in a taxi? Lame.
Leaving the bar on a jetpack? Awesome.

Yes, but leaving a bar on a jetpack while grabbing on to the driver's package... that may be worse for their reputation...

There's always time for that. There is also no inappropriate place for it.
