Looks pretty cool, certainly better than the original. My only issue is that Jason Momoa doesn't look even remotely Irish.
First, the original was awesome (and yes I have seen it recently). Second, I wouldn't worry about Momoa. He pulls off crafty badass pretty well. Er, at least he did in Atlantis. As a real fan of the original, I was ready to balk at whoever they said was cast for the lead. When I heard it was Momoa, I was like 'oh, ok. Cool'.
Trailer: why the metal music? I like metal, but Conan is something that should have announced itself with drums and brass. I'd also prefer if the movie wasn't as gray, but more red, brown and yellow like Frazetta's paintings (and the original movie). Steppes and mountains rather than New Zealand forests and Clash of the Titans style Greece. But I still want to see it.
I appreciate pulp fiction like Conan, and I realize that any modern-day box office adaptations are always going to be something different than the original source material.
I am sure it will use elements from several different Conan stories for example.

He's supposed to be big and intimidating, but not Ahnold big. And the guvenator played him too dumb, he's supposed to be a cunning son of a biscuit-eater.

If your going to do a remake of an Arnie film you might want to consider someone who lllks the part, instead of a marshmellow. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but that is not what Conan looks like. It would be like putting me in the movie. I'm big, I'm strong, but I haven't been to the gym sense I graduated in '94.
Sorry, I was not aware of your lack of HBO. As ZB pointed out, Momoa is a big guy. Not as big as the governator, but he seems to fit the original Conan description a bit more acurately.

They're not remaking an Arnie film, they're making a Conan film. Arnie looked nothing like Conan so trying to find a lookalike would be a terrible idea.

Heh. The actor who played Bayu is a good buddy of mine who ran D&D campaigns for many years and still does run games on occasion when he has time. I remember when he was doing that series.

Yup it was and yup it did.
The problem with the second film was that Arny should have been give better lines, not less of them - the scene in the director's cut of the first one where he gives a philosophical monologue about being a warrior while waiting in the boneyard for the bad guys to show up was awesome. If they'd had more lines like that in the first one and any of them in the second, then the first one would have been even better and the second one would have at least been not quite as bad...
