| #1EscherEnigmaMay 03, 2011 14:05:25 | [link] So apparenetly there's a company that scours the internet for copyright violators, aquires the rights to whatever it is they're violating, and then sue's 'em. Not sure what to think. I mean, on one hand, there's nothing really wrong with what they're doing. Copyright violations are a serious problem and uncredited exerts and pictures are something that needs to be stopped. On the other... their buisness model seems a bit skeevy. And they don't even start off with a cease and desist letter. So eh. Not sure on this one. |

| #4bone_nagaMay 03, 2011 14:36:28 | I hope more people contest these suits instead of settling. Willfull infringement is one thing, but a dude sharing a photo he saw on the internet without realizing that the site he got it from was also infringing on copyright is quite another. |
| #5zombie_babiesMay 03, 2011 14:40:22 | Imagine if Righthaven came here. I bet 90% of the OTTers would be served. |
| #6jesse.two.coinsMay 03, 2011 14:42:15 | bet they catch a few hits from the LOIC pretty soon. |
| #7mistresszeldaMay 03, 2011 14:44:08 | It really irks me when people use a law that is meant to protect someone/property/keep people from profiting on someone else's work and then bastardize it to make a quick buck. |
| #8pluisjenMay 03, 2011 16:04:08 | 'cause nobody wants to go to court over it so everybody will settle. And yeah, this is the kind of scum that should be shot repeatedly in the face. These are the kind of people that I really wish would get a visit from Anon. |
| #9bone_nagaMay 03, 2011 16:36:52 | Yeah, but how much can ordinary people give for copyright infringement? Well the company made at least one offer to settle for $6,000. Most middle class people can afford that, especially if it's made in payments. Who knows how many gave in out of fear of having to pay ten times that between court costs and an unfavorable judgment? |
