| #1Cpt_MichaOct 05, 2011 20:07:50 | pc.ign.com/articles/119/1198498p1.html Read it and weep. Cryptic is a Bargain Bin grade developer. STO and Champions are both Shovel Ware in terms of quality. Neither have shown any sign of dramatic improvement, both have such lame PVE that there's nothing worth doing in it. (STO is so bad that the only entertaining thing is PvP which is in a state of ruins after some horrendous neglect (like think since Launch since any pvp content was added, and there are only TWO match types) and balance decisions) You can also expect a complete betrayl of everything Neverwinter has ever accomplished, or had in it's lore, in favor of cheap in house story telling that's so bad that it makes a Syfy (yes Post Name Change) Original look like Bioware material by comparison. For what it's worthy I'm sorry guys. I even told you guys it wouldn't be worth buying. It was even worse than I anticipated. It's even using the same Crap Game Engine that STO and Champs use. Having a year + experience with Cryptic's "great products!" Here's what you can expect, a buggy lagtastic UI that won't even execute powers when you click them or hit the #s. Lag in various instances, frequent game client crashes, patches that don't actually address issues they claim to, horrendous customer service, snide and childish comments by the devs when -any- criticism is laid at their feet, and overpriced Cstore Items. Oh you can also expect horrendous balance, and refusal to acknowledge it even when Math is performed for them, and detailed Volumes worth of useful information are given to them. You can also expect, various instances to be so bugged that they won't be completable, even a year + from launch at times or that you won't get credit for completing them and forget about contacting a gm or customer service rep to help you get credit for completion they don't do that either. Oh, and devs that literally do not play whatever game they are working on. Literally. STO has some of the easiest leveling I have ever seen, and not a single dev currently working for them has a max level toon. It takes just 56 hours to level a toon. If you abuse the Foundry you can do it in Four Hours. The Devs in charge of Systems, don't even know what the engine is actually capable of 9/10 times (and have been quoted as saying that directly) Cryptic doesn't listen to feedback. At all. Also expect just Two character slots, and having to spend $6.25 per two extra slots. |

| #3The_SilverswordOct 05, 2011 23:38:43 | Read it and weep? Its now going to be free to play, that was one of my main gripes, but now its going to be free to play, yay! Sounds like good news to me |
| #4LitigationOct 06, 2011 0:05:39 | You'd have to pay me a lot to even play a game by Cryptic. |
| #5Cpt_MichaOct 06, 2011 9:06:20 | Read it and weep? Its now going to be free to play, that was one of my main gripes, but now its going to be free to play, yay! Read the 'features' that you'll find in my main post. Cryptic has had these exact same problems with Every Game They Have Ever Released. I'm not exaggerating either. The games really are that bad. Oh and their 'free content packs' don't actually add anything to the game save for once in a blue moon. Literally. Most of the time it's just a Patch, that doesn't even work. |
| #6EscefOct 06, 2011 14:45:20 | City of Heroes, also by Cryptic, was a good game. Lots of good, free updates, etc. However, Cryptic left CoH/CoV some time ago, and made Champions. I'm thinking that the praise they got for CoH went to their heads, and they've half-assed it since. |

They do the literal bare minimum to say the game client works and there is stuff to click on. |

I'm thinking that the praise they got for CoH went to their heads, and they've half-assed it since. Also of interest, when NC Soft (CoH's publisher) took full control of CoH they scooped up a bunch of Cryptic's staff. Perhaps it is that Cryptic ended up gutted of their best talent and just hired a bunch of slackers and incompetents and rode the reputation they built with City (yeah, rode it into the ground). |
| #9EscherEnigmaOct 06, 2011 22:54:50 | All I really have to say about Cryptic was that when I first tried City of Heroes I had fun, and kept playing until I took a break from online games all-together for a while. When I tried it again (this time, with family) we had fun, but my sister was too addicted to WoW to stay away for long so we left it. |
| #10zombie_babiesOct 07, 2011 8:38:06 | I have friends that play Champions and love it. They are critical about some of Cryptic's decisions but overall seem very pleased with the game itself. So much so, in fact, that I plan on joining them whenever I get around to updating my machine. I just can't play on a laptop anymore. It just sucks. |
| #11Carl_the_half_orkOct 10, 2011 8:42:56 | I might apply at this "Cryptic" so I can kick back and let the money roll in while doing little work. If what was said is true. |
