D&D 3D Character Creator

Dec 01, 2012 23:42:06 About a year or two ago when a large amount of the 4th ed. online material available on this site(character sheets online etc), I believe I recall mention of a 3D character creator being one of the features in the works. It was simply a rotateable model of a character of various races, serving basically as a paper doll to add armor and so forth to. I could swear that it was mentioned by wizards of the coast, but after searching on the various search engines and here I find no word of it. Does anyone else recall hearing of something like this?

What the is going on here? It looks like to me you guys are talking about D&D and we all know that discussion of D&D is forbidden here in the Tavern. FORBIDDEN!!!
So knock it off!!

I dont care really, I just feel like complaining about something.

Dec 02, 2012 2:19:21 I believe it was called Character visualizer, and it was part of the promoted D&D Insider suite prior to the launch of 4e. In fact, the advertising and promotion of DDI back then essentially suggested that the table, visualizer, character builder, vault, and campaign manager were ready to go out the door. When the game launched and DDI had no content other than the bonus tools, it was a sore moment for many gamers. I was one of them...we were angry. As it was demonstrated and sold to the public, it would have been a unified suite of tools, and Visualizer would have let you design your character's appearance, which would then be loaded into the character builder, printed on your character sheet, and become your miniature on the tabletop.

So we're talking about curses here. The TSR curse with computers that got passed on to WotC.

I don't know about curses, the absolute best digital software ever developed for D&D was the AD&D Core Rules 2.0 CD.
