Sep 08, 2011 19:44:02 Hey everyone, Thadeous here from Myrpgame.com I wanted to stop by and ask for your help. I just threw my hat in the ring for the Wizards of the Coast Social Media/ Community Manager postion. To get their attention I have decided to start a social media campaign.

I'm trying to get as many people as I can to support me in as many forms of social media as I can.
I started a facebook page for my campaign along with a new blog called Geek-Cred.
If you are interested in helping me get WotC's attention leave a supportive comment here or hit up the facebook page and give it a like.

Sep 08, 2011 21:14:47 I think you may have chosen the wrong supporters. While having a bunch of OTTers in your corner would probably get WotCs attention, it would also likely ruin any chance of getting the position (or any other with the company) you're hoping for. We're kinda the black sheep of the community.

Besides, I couldn't possibly support someone who hasn't cross-posted my story from the "Well, I didn't see that coming" thread.

Sep 09, 2011 7:44:21 I don't see why having some kind of campaign for your cause would make anyone more likely to hire you.

I work for a game company, we also have community managers, and while I'm not the one hiring them, something like this to me would be a turn off. You're basically so uncertain of your abilities that you need people whom you don't know (and who don't know you, or what you can do) to vouch for you?

I'm with Plu. If I were the hiring manager, this would likely annoy the crap out of me. And that's bad. 'Course I'm not the hiring manager so I don't know, but it seems sorta tacky to me.

Eldritch horror rising out of the sea to devour our souls? Then again, compared to some of the things happening this year around this time (Including, but not limited to school), I think it's not that bad.

i dunno... cthulu lost a fight against a boat once, which means my dad's only one summoning away from besting an ancient evil in his lunch break.
