| #1fisheyesAug 30, 2012 1:51:39 | I remember seeing the burntwire brothers house and it was great. It is easy to find pictures of that on the internet at www.acaeum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=871... . However, I also remember seeing a different amazing D&D remodeling job. It was in an attic, I believe in japan. It had a wooden table, and some cobblestone looking walls and floors. and I think it had a fake fireplace. It looked really nice. I wanted to look and see what they did to get ideas for the future. The burntwire brothers decorated better, but structurally the one I'm talking about looked better. Does anybody know what I'm talking about, and/or have a link to it? Fisheyes |

| #6pigknightSep 02, 2012 18:54:40 | This would be more apropos in the D&D General. |
| #7CorranHornIsAwesomeSep 02, 2012 18:56:17 | This would be more apropos in the D&D General. If it's appropriate anywhere. |
| #8fisheyesSep 02, 2012 21:10:33 | I actually posted it here in the hopes of avoiding the forum (Content Removed) telling me I posted in the wrong place. I assumed that the (Content Removed) there would tell me I'm not talking specifically about dungeons & dragons, but fantasy. (Content Removed) But first I'll repost in the D&D General forum. | #9Ragnar_LodbrokSep 02, 2012 21:37:56 | Yeah, that part of the OTT's rules are weird. But thank you for showing me ideas to put in a proper gaming room. Should I ever be able to afford a house, being the necessary caveat. |
| #10homicidal_squirrelSep 02, 2012 23:37:30 | I actually posted it here in the hopes of avoiding the forum nazis telling me I posted in the wrong place. I assumed that the nazis there would tell me I'm not talking specifically about dungeons & dragons, but fantasy. The nazis here tell me D&D talk is not allowed. Maybe I will go to amsterdam and see if I can find me a nice attic to hide out in. Or... and here is an idea... if you make this a thread about decorating a room, but don't make it a D&D/game room decorating specific thread, it could stay here. Of course you'll get people telling you that you have terrible taste, but it can still be insteresting. |

Third, you are at fault for not reading the Tavern rules, because then you would realize this is not the place for D&D related topics. Your reading comprehension and attention to detail suck. Your trolling needs some refinement (I give trolling lessons on the weekends- $10 per session, but maybe RM gives them a little cheaper- he's French-Canadian ya know, but don't hold that against him, it wasn't his fault) |

| #15fisheyesSep 03, 2012 16:56:41 | (Content Removed) I am not interested in establishing a place on the social ladder here. You can keep it, and even step on my head to secure a slightly higher internet position for yourself, but really, that will arouse the suspicion of inner circle of forum (Content Removed) who have the power to send my posts to a special camp for undesirable threads, defeating the knowledge acquisition goal of my original post. House design and architecture are complicated things, but what stops us from redesigning a room or even a whole house in a fantasy/rpg/d&d style? What is the reason why we don't put candle sconces on the walls, build a secret room where pulling a certain book springs the door open, have a backyard underground lair or halfling home, lay down cobblestone floors in the kitchen, and so on? I don't mean cheap or cheesy. What the burntwire brothers did was wonderfully creative. So was the other room I originally described that I once saw online but which nobody here seems to have heard of. | #16ADHadhSep 03, 2012 17:37:13 | Fishy, stop with the Godwins, please. It's September in Warsaw... The reason we don't put candle scones in our houses is fire hazzard ![]() Though I don't see the need or possibility for me to build a house full of secret passages and an underground bunker, I think this would be cool nonetheless. Building a "medieval" castle would be unimaginably kitschy though. I'd rather see people that can afford that (and indeed sometimes try, at least twice it happened without proper permits, leading to creation of modern ruins) shell out to renew some of our existing mansions and castle, especially those sacked by Soviets. |
| #17fisheyesSep 03, 2012 19:25:30 | You may have drunken your fill of (Content Removed) analogies, but I am still thirsty, as forum posting is not my habit. I see no fire hazard in candle sconces, except in the mind of an insurance adjuster. The same would apply to fireplaces. In my case, the water table is too high for me to build much underground. Restoration of polish castles would be great if done with historical and archeological seriousness, but far beyond what I am capable of. Honestly I'd be fine with cheap looking concrete castles all over the place, but that's not what I'm thinking about either. I'd just like to (will) incorporate certain historical features common to the fantasy genre but not exclusive to it. Not a full blown castle. A moat and a drawbridge would probably be too much although it is possible and would definitely be cool. In a rural area in america you could probably do whatever you wanted without having to worry about building codes, but I am thinking of the city. Well, again, you're in the wrong forum. Also, who is this mysterious inner circle of forum dwellers who can manipulate the boards at will? |
