God, don't start throwing that thing around. :P

However, that's a pretty neat idea. I'm more of a supernatural girl, but that would be kinda cool. :D

You should run it on the PbP Haven boards. ;)

There, there, poppet, the art is gone now. Just don't click on the nice 'sblock' button. There there...

I didn't say the art was great. It just inspired me to look at my old works to see if I could find my old toontown stuff.

And by the way...

That too but I was thinking something along the lines of what a tiefling can also do. ;)

Oh, I didn't think you did, but I thought it was funny. :P

Hey, I like furry stuff anyway - I've always liked anthropomorphic animals and stuff anyway. But that pic should be buried somewhere. ;)

Just thought it might be fun to see the reactions to some of the condition fluff I came up with. Bear in mind I came up with these during the early 3.5 era.

Toon Character Conditions
Toons react a little differently than humans to certain things. Below is a list of character conditions, & the toon behavior that accompanies them. This is in addition to the usual penalties associated with that character condition.

Blinded: puts on dark sunglasses, & pulls out a white and red cane.
Cowering: knees knock & teeth chatter (may also bite fingernails).
Dazed: swaying on your feet.
Nauseated: face turns pale/green, spirals circle around head, puffy cheeks.
Panicked: eyes bug-out & shrill scream before fleeing.
Paralyzed: Snaps straight as a board before falling down.
Shaken: shakes & can only speak in a breathy stutter. Usually accompanied by tapping an oblivious ally on the shoulder.
Stunned: head is wreathed by circling stars or chirping birds.
Unconscious: tongue hangs out at an angle & eyes become X’s.

Other Toon FX
Toons not only react differently to certain character conditions, but situation in their everyday life may provoke unique FX. Some of these situations, & the most common FX, are listed below.

Sees A Lot of Valuables: cha-ching sound effect, and pupils become $’s.
Starving: Next person seen is seen as a talking food item.
Sneaking Around: Twinkling sound as toon tiptoes around. May also have stealthy music (like the Pink Panther theme).
Sees Attractive Person: Heart pushes out of chest with each beat. Tiny hearts bubble-up and pop around head. Male toons often roll out tongue like a carpet and wolf-whistle.

I'm trying to remember an RPG that was toon-based. I played it in high school/early college ...

Well, there is an RPG named simply "Toon", based around old Saturday morning cartoons like the (old) Looney Tunes type stuff.

I played a vampire once. At one point he turned into a giant oven to bake some dough golems into delicious cookies. I had to roll intelligence checks (and fail) to not realize this was impossible.

What guy? Does he have huge biceps? How about nice pectorals? Know what screw that. The real question is does he have rockin' hard abs and a nice ass? ;)

Lol. Yep. And because he's cool and a toon, he has the whole leather jacket james dean thing going on.

Yup, that was it.

I think I made a sexy Toon, like Minerva Minx from Tiny Toon Adventures.

Another little excerpt of toon goodiness (unfortunately it does include the clunky d20 modern wealth system mechanic).

Wealth
Toons don’t use normal, human money. Instead, their money is called simoleons (although it does resemble the US dollar). Simoleons and the US dollar are not of equal value; and most businesses will only accept one of the two currency types.
To reflect this fact, the wealth bonus is split into two categories: normal wealth and toon wealth. To determine the starting wealth of a character, roll 2d4 for your regular wealth and 2d4 for your toon wealth. The bonus provided by your starting occupation, and from having 1-4 ranks in the Profession skill, is added to either your toon wealth or your normal wealth (the bonuses cannot be split between the two). The Windfall feat, if taken, provides its bonus to the wealth bonus of your choice.

Equipment
Any commercially available item can be purchased as a toon version of the item. Humans can use toon gear with no special penalty; the same goes for toons that use normal equipment. Toon equipment is usually available only in a toon community.
All toon weapons, as well as all toon items used as an improvised weapon, deal non-lethal damage. This means that dropping a toon piano on a normal human won’t kill him; nor will shooting him with a toon shotgun (like that used by Elmer Fudd).

Toon
A toon is any animated cartoon creature.
Hit Die: d8.
Base Attack Bonus: 3/4 total Hit Dice.
Good Saving Throws: Choose one.
Skill Points: 6 + Int modifier, +1 point per Hit Dice beyond 1 HD.
Feats: 1, plus 1 feat per 4 Hit Dice beyond 1 HD.
Toons share the following additional traits.
Weapon & Armor Proficiency: Toons are proficient with all simple weapons, and proficient with any armors it is described as wearing (as well as all lighter types).
Ageing: Toons never age past adulthood. The best measure of a toon’s age is its appearance (black & white toons are from before 1932).
Invulnerability (Ex): Toons are nearly invulnerable; capable of taking incredible amounts of damage without dying. Unless noted otherwise, all damaging effects that strike a toon deal nonlethal damage to the toon.

-Toons need to eat, breathe, and sleep as if they were normal, living creatures.

Looking back at it though, I probably should change this:
Invulnerability (Ex): Toons are nearly invulnerable; capable of taking incredible amounts of damage without dying. Unless noted otherwise, all damaging effects that strike a toon deal nonlethal damage to the toon.

To this:
Invulnerability (Ex): Toons are nearly invulnerable; capable of taking incredible amounts of damage without dying. A toon that takes enough damage to be killed by it is instead alive but bandaged and in casts and must be hospitalized until completely healed.

More on topic: no Toonworld RPG system will be complete without falling anvils.

Very true. I'll have to work on that.

Any thoughts on Toon as a 4e origin?

Toon [origin]: Toon creatures are conceived in the imagination and given life in the world they were drawn or animated in (treating that world as their native plane). Toon creatures breathe, eat, drink, and sleep; but they do not age.

It could even work in a D&D environment. What with flip-books, and drawings animated through magic.

My only concern with regard to 4e toons is what to do about their invulnerability? If we stick with the basic Roger Rabbit mythos, there is only one thing that can permanently kill a toon. Is that a racial quality that automatically changes death to unconsciousness, or is it a racial self-resurrection power?

Me thinks using the feature of the Undying Warrior from MP would work: auto-rez once a day after dying, make it a racial daily power and you should be golden.

Sounds like a great idea, as long as you don't have to be killed on the same day to use this power. Otherwise a toon could be permanently killed after they rose for the first time on any given day.
