| #3jetshieldAug 25, 2012 22:09:19 | There's a good chance that at least one OTTer likes that show. Some of these guys have abysmal taste in entertainment. |
| #4DoctorNecroticAug 25, 2012 22:40:06 | Quite the disdain for a silly sci-fi show. I just happen to enjoy stupid cheese... Though to be fair, Russel T. Davies is evil and Stephen Moffat only exists to antagonize his fans more than Gabe Newell does. (I meant nothing, mighty overlord Newell! I hope this means Ep. 3 isn't pushed back another 5 years!) |

| #7DoctorNecroticAug 26, 2012 0:18:59 | I'm with you Doc. Welcome to the world of subjectivity... Also, thanks! But hey, there's plenty of things I HATE with a passion that people love (I.E. most action based video games, MTV as a whole, most electronic music) and plenty of things others hate that I seem to enjoy... sometimes as guilty pleasures. (SuperJail, 80s hair bands, Doctor Who of course. Of course I'd have all cheesy things on this list) Art is in the eye of the beholder, after all. But on that note, how come we haven't turned to stone yet? Man, I wish Beholders were real. Then this could happen! ![]() "Television news day off to a rocky start, viewers are petrified in fear!" |

And the whole thing makes no sense, unless Batman is actually full on crazy. Gotham never improves. Never. An argument could be made that he's made it worse. He could spend his money and actually improve life there, and crime would actually be reduced. It's stupid. Doctor Who is the greatest show ever. of all time I really like SG-1, but 24? To each their own, I guess. I thought that show was total crap, personally. Doctor Who is the greatest show ever. of all time 8-11 are just as awesome. |

TNG had at least one of the best movies in the franchise, and some of the best episodes, but it can be hard to watch episode by episode. DS9 had fewer of the best episodes, but was easier to watch episode by episode. The invasion was badass. Anyway, DS9 is one of the three shows I just call Babylon 9: Atlantis. dood, a bad first two seasons is a Star Trek hallmark. NG's first two seasons sucked, too. Like, the ship was a giant fly or something. Oh, and they had murderous carrots, too. Those were supercool. DS9 really started sucking when Dax left the show. It's not just the last episode. Meh, Ezri was ok. Really all ya need DS9 for is the Dominion War, though. Superepicspacebattlesofwin. |
| #59DoctorBadWolfAug 27, 2012 15:53:58 | Or, you know, they wrote a different character. Complete bull. Did you even watch the show? Because if you did, you'd know that the two characters have different personalities, hobbies, priorities, command styles and general outlooks on life. In other words, they're completely different characters. |
| #60homicidal_squirrelAug 27, 2012 16:11:25 | Complete bull. Hey! Relax... We're just discussing what a terrible rip-off of Picard Sisko is. No need to get all bent out of shape. Just accept the facts that Sisko is Picard, except written by racist writers. |
| #61DoctorBadWolfAug 27, 2012 16:28:48 | Complete bull. lol How exactly is his depiction racist? One of the very few similarities between the two characters are that they are both very good people, with strong moral compasses. They don't view right and wrong in exactly the same way, but neither do Picard and Richer, for instance. |
| #62Mad_JackAug 27, 2012 17:29:55 | There was an "article" (as though you can call those things that) on MSN today about the possibility that Dr. Who could be a woman after the current Dr. leaves (which reads to me like a hint that he may be gone in a year or two)... Hasn't he already been a woman for a little bit, like part of an episode or something, or am I thinking of an episode where he ran into another Time Lord who came back as a woman? I've only seen a few episodes (spread across like five different Dr.'s), one of which was when he died and gave his powers to his girlfriend for a bit... I personally only watch the show based on how hot the woman he's hanging around with at the time is. |

I don't expect much. ![]() Picard is reserved and British-y, and well, a bit old. Sisko is younger, more imposing, etc. If you think the difference is because he's black, then honestly, you can't be helped. Kirk would have punched Q, too, and he's white. And Sisko is very "American" in demeanor and habits. There is nothing "street" or otherwise stereotypically black about him, that I can recall. Great, so not only are they racist, the writers also look down on Americans. Why does the black American guy have to be the one who imposing? Seriously, that's like playing off of stereotypes. The white "british-y" guy gets to be the sophisticated one and go exploring and doing cool intellectual stuff, while the war mongering American, who just happens to be black, has to have less morals and punch people in the face and intimidate everyone else. Grrrrrrrreeeeeaaat... |
| #78DoctorBadWolfAug 27, 2012 21:13:20 | wow. That's a greater stretch than Reed Richards being able to get a hot wife. (not what you expected, was it?) Ok, first of all, whoever said Sisko has less morals is simply wrong. And there's not one single note in the entire show of looking negatively on Sisko, so the idea that the writers look down on Americans or black people is absurd. He's the hero, and is presented as such. You may not like the character, but that's irrelevant. |

And there's not one single note in the entire show of looking negatively on Sisko, so the idea that the writers look down on Americans or black people is absurd. I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing, a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it... Computer, erase that entire personal log." ;) You may not like the character, but that's irrelevant. | #88zombie_babiesAug 28, 2012 8:22:22 | Finally someone mentioned something enjoyable. Wut? Star Bores is terrible. Anyhoo, Picard wouldn't have done the same. In fact, he didn't. He was the Arbiter of Succession and had an opportunity to cement the Federation's link with the Klingons. He made the correct choice only because Duras was proved to be a clone or whatever he was. And then, once Picard was certain there'd be civil war that could see the Klingons allied with the hostile Romulans - a most assuredly undesirable possibility for the Federation - he turned the Enterprise around and left when Gowron needed him most. That's the technically right thing to do thanks to the Prime Directive. And, to me, that shows us there's no way Picard would have compromised his belief in the Directive in order to assure Romulan alliance against the Dominion as Sisko did. It's not his style. It's not in him to do it. And that's fine. But yeah, Picard wouldn't have done it. |
| #89CorranHornIsAwesomeAug 28, 2012 14:18:50 | Finally someone mentioned something enjoyable. I'm about to go nerd, so read at your own peril. 1. I admit some of the movies were less then stellar, but the EU is fantastic.2. Duras was not a a clone. That was the new Kahless. Duras got killed by Worf. 3. Romulan-Klingon alliance dosen't mean that the Federation will lose a war for it's survival. It means that their rivals have shifted the balance of power in a situation that does not border on a Cold War, at all. |
| #90zombie_babiesAug 28, 2012 14:44:07 | I'm about to go nerd, so read at your own peril. What-evs. 1. I don't even know what that means. 2. Duras was not a a clone. That was the new Kahless. Duras got killed by Worf. It was allegedly Duras' son - the kid Lursa and B'Etor presented. He was illigitimate but not cloned or whatever (so I bonered on that'n) and his claim to the throne was invalidated when it was discovered his family was working with the Romulans. Worf most certainly did not kill the child. His life was offered to Worf but Worf refused to take it. At any rate, this shows that Picard would not have pulled a Sisko because, you know, he didn't. He could have chosen Gowron at any time but, instead, was leaning toward Duras until the treachery was revealed. Had the Romulan ties never been exposed, Picard would have chosen Duras to lead regardless of the cost to the Federation. A most assuredly non-Sisko approach. 3. Romulan-Klingon alliance dosen't mean that the Federation will lose a war for it's survival. It means that their rivals have shifted the balance of power in a situation that does not border on a Cold War, at all. Actually it pretty much meant exactly that. It's also pretty much why they were so afraid of it happening. The Romulans were openly hostile to the Federation as revealed by their spy plot (where the Enterprise delivered the spy, post mission, to the Romulans after she posed as an ambassador) and the plant they sacrificed to lure the Enterprise into the neutral zone in order to provoke a war (when the Romulan leader threatened to destroy the Enterprise if it were not surrendered and then display it's husk in the Romulan capitol). Then you've got them trying to sneak past the Federation fleet to attack and the other time the Enterprise was caught in the neutral zone (I think it was when they went to Romulus to get Spock back) and set upon and saved only because they brought along some Klingon help. So yeah, there's sort of more than plenty of reason for the Federation to fear a Klingon Empire that's basically a Romulan puppet. That's sort of the entire point of that story arc. So yeah, next time you wanna 'go nerd'? Make sure you know what you're talkin' about. ;) ![]() |

That convoluted stuff for nerds and Mandalorian fetishists ![]() I admit that I simply don't like sci-fi that gets too technical about itself and I find Star Wars simply fun movies to watch and I think Jedis and a rickety Millenium Falcon are cooler than some rubber-forehead "savage" aliens or dime-a-dozen Entriprises. PS. And Togruta are teh smexy. |

The Dominion and the Federation were in war. The Federation and the Romulans were not. I would imagine there were quite a few Federation spies on Romulus. Spcok was there, although not in an ooffcial capacity as a spy, but I would imagine he'd have a few things to tell the Federation. Admittedly, the ambassador 9Wasn't her name T'Pol as well? I might be wrong, it's been a while since I saw that episode). As for the Romulans trying to provoke a war by luring the Enterprise into the Neutral Zone, Picard certainly ventured into the Neutral Zone as well on several occasions, risking a war. What about during the visit to that planet with the probes and the portal doorways, I forget the name but an ancient species had lived there and constructed an empire using those portals. They tried to sneak past the Federation fleet, yes, to battle in the Klingon Civil War. They don't have a Prime Directive, So why does them trying to create a puppet regime in an Alpha Quadrant power=total war and death to the Federation? It's bad, certainly. But it's not near the Domion War-level. Also, homicidial squirrel, how about you tell us what Sci-Fi you like so you can have more of a purpose here other then calling wirters racist and making vague insinuations towards Doctor Who? Seriously, I pass out 10 minutes into it every time1. Actually, come to think of it, I fall asleep whenever I try to watch any of the Star Wars movies. | #100DoctorBadWolfAug 29, 2012 0:28:11 | And Picard would have done the same, in his shoes. You can call my keyboard a banana all you want, but it remains a banana. Finally someone mentioned something enjoyable. I don't think Sisko would have acted all that differently than Picard in that situation, though. They're different. Sisko had the choice of following his code, or saving the quadrant from complete subjugation by an extremely hostile force. I think that if either of them had to choose between a war between the federation and a Romulan/Klingon alliance, and total subjugation of the quadrant under the Dominion, both of them would make the same choice. But, I think that's the main similarity between the two of them. Dedication, loyalty, etc. Those things that make a person a good person and capable of leadership. Beyond that, they're not alike. The Romulans are a war threat. They aren't an existential threat to the entire quadrant. |

| #112DoctorBadWolfAug 29, 2012 12:56:33 | No. War with the Romulans does not present a existential threat to the entire quadrant. A bit. anyway, I think the point is that Picard faced a tough political situation, but one which the Federation could have handled. Had he been facing the threat of invasion from the Dominion allied with the Cardies and the Roms, and was given an opportunity to get the Romulans on the Federation's side, and that opportunity was via shady actions, he'd have done it. I could see him giving up his commision after the war, but he'd still do it. Neither man is more moral than the other. One has more reletivistic morals than the other, but not a by a huge degree. |
| #113zombie_babiesAug 29, 2012 13:05:15 | I just don't see Picard doing the same. Maybe it's a product of what the two were exposed to. Sisko became Sisko because of the insanely difficult challenges he faced. Picard, while facing some damned insanely difficult challenges himself, didn't really see the same level of notgood on the horizon. He could have with that whole Borg invasion thing but, at the time, he was a Borg and so we can't really know what he was willing to do. And I think that difference is what separates the men. It's why I don't think Picard would have done the things Sisko did. He was, by comparison, more sheltered. Oh, and 'Cardies'? Really? Talk about racist, man. ![]() ![]() |

I don't think the Cardassians would be too happy about that, or any number of smaller powers. Not the smartest move. As Picard said "It's always a game of chess with the Romulans". I haven't noticed any way in which they act like Jewish people, outside of embodying the stereotype of stingy, money obsessed people. They seem more like a caricature of free market capitalists than anything else. anyway, the Force isn't an infection. Midichlorians are symbiotic microscopic lifeforms that enhance a person's ability to directly interact with the Force. The Force remains what it always was, but now it's been revealed that living beings interact with the Force via midichlorians. In other words, penicillin would not reduce a person's ability to interact with the Force. |
| #144DoctorBadWolfAug 30, 2012 17:15:02 | Ferengis are a racist caricature of jews. They're also micro organisms that connect directly to the force, and it's established that the force can effect healing processes. Since force users can be treated medically, it must be assumed that midichlorians protect themselves from the effects of penicillin. This isn't even a stretch, it is simply the logical conclusion based on the premises of the universe. Now, it has not been established that I'm not sensitive to racism in sci fi properties. You're still wrong about the racism re: Sisko. However, I've also noted the rampant racism in Star Wars, so your statement is probably false. There are millions of symbiotic microorganisms living within humans without which we would have extreme difficulty surviving and which are not harmed by penicillin. That's probably not an impossible task, and one has to wonder why it hasn't been done in any of the books. Because the villains are dumb. It also points to the shoddy writing that goes into Star Bores. Lucas isa no-talent hack. |
| #150ADHadhAug 30, 2012 19:14:56 | Note that in real life, while it happens, having a disease hop and develop similarly between different species is still treated as impressive and is often the cause for a major outbreak. Now, midichlorians manage to live in symbiosis with numerous species that evolved in different conditions. That's some super-microbes, yo. |
| #151Robin_HoodlumAug 30, 2012 20:06:18 | So... My 3 year old asked me a qustion the other day, and the answer I gave him was. "magic". Is this a bad thing? EDIT: I am a Christian and believe in God. If your answer is baiting, flaming, arrogant, or douche-bag worthy, I will report it. |

| #153Robin_HoodlumAug 30, 2012 20:17:09 | So... I don't remember, but the answer was some complex science thingie, that would have meant the same thing as "magic"... But I hate not explaing things to my kids, but if I start to explain things, that leads into 2.5 hours of "why" questions... ![]() |

| #168The_SilverswordAug 30, 2012 22:57:52 | Have you seen it? It's only good cuz it's insanely terrible. I mean, the argument that Bores is better than Trek cuz it's so horrendously bad it's good makes sense on one level but it's also pretty dumb. Have I seen it? HAVE I SEEN IT!? Dood I have it on DVD! Hell yeah!!! And any way you really cant blame the Christmas special on Lucas, he had zero involvment with it, and then when he did see it he made sure it was never aired again and destroyed the orginal cut. But seriously I like the movies, I think theyre good in a very pulp fiction sorta way, which is what he was going for, and by pulp fiction Im not talkin Travolta, im talkin like actual pulp fiction stuff, Doc Savage, Tarzan, John Carter, stuff like that. And another thing, The success of Star Wars (yes it was successful) opened the doors for alot of other Science Fictiony stuff, chances are without the success of Star Wars the Star Trek movie would have never been made! And have you seen the 1st Trek movie? Oh god now that was terrible, far worse than anything Lucas ever did, including Howard the Duck. |
| #169sfdragonAug 30, 2012 23:10:39 | write that was the movie wit hthe costumes that th cast theatened that if the wanted a sw 2, they better get rid of those cosutmes right??? |
| #170dirtyfrankAug 31, 2012 1:55:51 | So... Yes, cuz you were a lazy ing parent. However, it would have been able to say "Physics did it" or "Son, that is magic. Magic known as physics". Something like that. |
| #171CorranHornIsAwesomeAug 31, 2012 9:44:47 | So this is the argument against Star Wars. Racism. Yeah, there is. It's from the 1970s. Take the Star Trek movies fromthat v time and I'll show you racism too. Sexism. See above. "Bores" Ironic, since this is the typical argument against Star Trek. But I like Star Trek, so I won't go there. "It sucks" This is just stupid. back it up please with something reasonable. Oh, and tell me what Sci-Fi you like HS so I can say how much it sucks. Force usage affected by Penicillin. No. They are living organisms, yes. They also provide you with the power to do rificulous things, which are practically magic. So forgive if I call on this one.And that's it. Anything else? |
| #172CorranHornIsAwesomeAug 31, 2012 9:53:45 | You were just arguing about how racist Star Trek is, so I'm not even going to go there. How did you get the idea the Force can be removed by a doctor? That's ridiculous. Nah. Everyone hates the Ewoks, they aren't in any of the books. "Incestous sexual tension". You mean for like 5 minutes in ESB? |
| #173CorranHornIsAwesomeAug 31, 2012 10:02:32 | And could someone explain how Firefly is good? I could barely watch the whole show, it just put me to sleep. The ship is utter jank, and they basically just go around doing random stuff. It's like a sitcom but less funny. And more boring. |
| #174KlirshonAug 31, 2012 10:05:00 | |
| #175CorranHornIsAwesomeAug 31, 2012 10:06:21 | If that's directed at me, which I assume it is, ..... It applies to the whole damn thread. |

Yeah, pretty much. Humans assume too much, just like they are too opinionative... One of the drawbacks of sentience... Many silly humans try to become superior by shoving opinions around like they are rightful rule. |

Do you know what 'officer' means? It means 'not some schlub'. ;) And she was bridge staff, too. They stuck Scotty in friggin' engineering. He's white. Uhura had a better, more front and center position than Scotty did, dawg. I have no idea why you think an incestuous kiss is better than an interracial one. You're pretty messed up, broski. |
| #184DoctorBadWolfAug 31, 2012 15:36:23 | Ferengis are a racist caricature of jews. OK, that last bit is complete absurdity and you know it. Our bodies have all manner of micro organisms. Our immune system doesn't kill them off, because it knows they're supposed to be there. As to Farengi, I'm a bit offended that you associate Jews so much with greed and stingyness that you can't see any other way to interpret the Farengi. their culture has no similarity to Jewish culture. They are obsessively randian self interest style capitalistic to the point of viewing charity as disgustingly alien, which has nothing to do with Jews, even in stereotype. They aren't focused on banking, which would be a common Jewish stereotype. Seriously, if you see money grubber, and can't see anything else but Jew, the issue lies with you. |
| #185DoctorBadWolfAug 31, 2012 15:46:14 | So... Yes. the truth is important. "It's hard to explain" followed by a really simplified answer, and a clear "There's more to it, but it's really complicated." would be better. dood, Star Trek aired the first interracial kiss ever. Fact, holmes. Pure fact. Star Bores? It showed some loser dood kissin' his sister. I hear it played well in West Virginia. Not the writer's fault. Blame network racism for that one. Originally, the first mate was going to be either black or a woman, or both. Can't remember right now. |
| #186homicidal_squirrelAug 31, 2012 16:18:39 | OK, that last bit is complete absurdity and you know it. Our bodies have all manner of micro organisms. Our immune system doesn't kill them off, because it knows they're supposed to be there. Except they weren't there to begin with. The original tragedy didn't mention them, like at all. Then Lucas makes the pre-tragedy tragedy movies, and what is suddenly there? That's right, midichlorians. So obviously midichlorians are foeign bodies. Thus the being's immune system should have taken care of them. So yeah, not absurd at all. As to Farengi, I'm a bit offended that you associate Jews so much with greed and stingyness that you can't see any other way to interpret the Farengi. Hey, don't get snippy with me, Brobi-Wan Kenobi. You're the one that pointed all those things out. If you don't want to be offended, don't post such racist things. |

| #189homicidal_squirrelSep 01, 2012 14:59:15 | HS has said so many ridiculous things by now that I'm done with this thread. So in other words, you can't refute my points, but are so loyal to Lucas that you won't admit he wrote a terrible script and then made it even worse, gotcha. ;) ZB, you made an excellent case, but keep in mind that "communications officer" basically means telephone operator. That's a stereotypical woman's job. Actually, before Kirk took comand of the U.S.S. Enterprise, the communications officer was Garrison, played by Adamn Roarke, a man. Uhura, a woman, took Garrison's job and his lunch money. So yeah, that "stereotypical woman's job," was actually a man's job first. ![]() |
| #190The_SilverswordSep 02, 2012 4:32:27 | Ok for all you Star Trek nuts out there, lets break it down, kay? Lets take a good look at the movies, im not counting tv shows, cartoons, comic books, merchandising and the like, we all know Star Wars wins in that department anyways. Star Trek: The Motion Picture-Sucked! Star Wars (Episode 4, you know the first one) Kicked Ass! Star Trek II Kicked Ass! Empire Strikes Back: Kicked Ass! Star Trek III-Sucked! Return of the Jedi -Kicked Ass! Star Trek IV Kicked... well it was alright anyway. Phantom Menace-Sucked! Star Trek V-Sucked! Attack of the Clones-Kicked Ass! Star Trek VI-Sucked! Revenge of the Sith-Kicked Ass! Star Trek VII-Sucked! The Clone Wars (Animated, it counts cause it was released in theaters)-Kicked Ass! Star Trek VIII was actually pretty good, and all the other ones after that really sucked, Insurection really stands out as sucking exceptionally bad. So all in all, yeah I got to give it to Star Wars, May the Force be With You! |

Our immune system doesn't kill them off, because it knows they're supposed to be there. That literally doesn't make any sense. You're suggesting that because the midichlorians are a concept that is not presented in ep 4-6, and are revealed/introduced in ep 1-3, they don't exist in part of the canon of the universe, and thus must be foreign bodies? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, outside of "I think Jar Jar Binks was a good addition to the franchise", and that resulted in me spit taking whiskey in someone's face, and refusing to apologize because what they'd said was infinitly worse. ..."window.parent.tinyMCE.get('post_content').onLoad.dispatch();" contenteditable="true" />As to Farengi, I'm a bit offended that you associate Jews so much with greed and stingyness that you can't see any other way to interpret the Farengi. Nemesis wasnt nearly as bad as Insurection, and Insurection wasnt nearly as bad as The Motion Picture. And what are you talking about? Attack of the Clones was Awesome! Probably my favorite of the prequels, It had everything I wanted to see in a Star Wars Prequel, Yoda with a lightsaber, Anakin goin darkside, An army of Lightsaber weilding Jedi Knights, An army of Mandalorians, Oh and JarJar finally did something useful! |

| #237DoctorBadWolfSep 06, 2012 23:10:25 | So this is why Dr. Who is a good show? Dr Who is good for many reasons. Not least of which, the complexity of the primary character. |
| #238The_SilverswordSep 06, 2012 23:56:34 | I dunno, Dr. Who just hasnt been the same, Tom Baker was like the peak of Dr Who, IMO, I havnt seen too many of the new ones, but it seems like they have a bigger budget so theyre focusing more on effects than on the story, Im not saying thats the case, but from the few (like 4 or 5) episides i have seen that seemed to be the case. |

There is still a big focus on story especially within a season or two (prob more so within the arc of a certain companion) but with a bigger budget they can have more effects for entertainment and spread the story out across many episodes. Well also they do a good job hiding details within episodes to have them later pop back up as the season/arc finally comes about. So often it might seem like a sort of loose story with little inter connectedness, but by season end it all gets pulled together nicely IMO. |
| #241CorranHornIsAwesomeSep 07, 2012 19:33:28 | I dunno, Dr. Yeah. Basically people without the patience to understand how things link together pretend to know about the show, and criticize it. |
| #242dirtyfrankSep 07, 2012 20:43:29 | Not really what I was saying. Just saying that it is still very much story and drama based and whatnot but its a bit of a different way they go about it. In a whole the show is a bit corny and if you go in expecting something completely different then of course you aint going to like it. The show is a bad show in a sense because of its a bit of corny nature but then again it's not trying to be a serious show like much of the star treck or battlestar galactica remake and whatnot. its a corny sci fi drama/comedy not a serious one. Its more for people that like their sci fi more light hearted than a nitty gritty grey. |

| #244The_SilverswordSep 09, 2012 18:19:36 | Well I might have to check out the new DR Who, actually watch it in order, instead of watching random episodes from various seasons. Its on Netflix so its not like i have an excuse to not watch it, might get into it when im done with Quantum Leap, watching that really sucks on Netflix though, they appreantly dont have the rights to show every episode, so it starts out with like episode 3, then 5,6,7, 10, then it skips a few more and on to season 2, which is done up the same way, I mean most of the episodes were self contained, so you didnt have to watch it all in order, but still, it sucks at the end of one episode he leaps into a woman, and then the next episode hes a monkey or whatever, and i cant help but think that somehow ive missed something. |
| #245DoctorBadWolfSep 10, 2012 3:56:25 | So this is why Dr. Who is a good show? Not in the slightest. Anyone who says Dr Who is good has to be kidding - er, at least that's what we need to assume. Just rewatched Cold Blood, from 11's first season, where Rory dies, and well...damnit this is a good season. For some reason, most of the people I've known in real life who dislike the show have been somewhat lacking in empathy. Either jerks, or just distant sort of people. Not sure what causes the correlation, or if it extends any further than my own circle of aquaintences, of course. |

| #320DoctorBadWolfSep 17, 2012 15:26:19 | Racist comments? What are you on about now? Elitism is very nearly always the sign of an insecure, vain and ignorable person. And I've made no racist comments. Not on this, or any other forum. Not in the entire time that internet forums have existed. Not once. On a somewhat random but related to previous parts of the thread note, midichlorians in star wars aren't bacteria. they're basically a product of George Lucas forgetting what mitochondria are called, and making something up that sounds vaguely similar. He mentions them in an interview from the 70's, so they weren't made up for the new movies, they were part of his original vision of the universe. Sometimes a beer is enjoyable to a person because they drank it alot when they were in high school and it's all they could get ahold of, or because someone they spent a lot of time with drank it alot and they got used to it at some point, etc. And sometimes you drink Jim Beam because it works fine for cooking, so you sort of had it around, and needed a swig of whiskey that day. ![]() But XX is horrid stuff. | #322dirtyfrankSep 17, 2012 19:13:31 | I have to agree - the Niners are probably the best team in the NFL right now. Really solid all the way around. If you doubt that Alex Smith should have shut you up with his clutch performance yesterday. Srsly good team. I probably won't be picking against them again - and I only did so in the first place cuz I'm a Packers fan. ;) Its completely understandable that you'd pick packers over niners even if you weren't a fan. They're both good teams last year and projected to be good teams this year as well. It was the first game of the season so no telling what could happen. But after seeing them both weeks they look fairly solid. I already can't wait for the playoffs. Can't wait to see meh team takin' the big game this year. |
| #323homicidal_squirrelSep 17, 2012 20:03:41 | Elitism is very nearly always the sign of an insecure, vain and ignorable person. You don't have any friends, do you? And I've made no racist comments. Not on this, or any other forum. Not in the entire time that internet forums have existed. Not once. Deny it all you want. We all know the truth. They are similar to mitochondria in that they are subcellular. There is no similarity between them and bacteria. They are bacteria. Stop defending Lucas's terrible writing. But XX is horrid stuff. It's as bad as Natural Light. At least we agree on this. |

Yeah, I had reason to choose the Pack but it wasn't like an easy pick to make. I've been talkin' up the 9rs all offseason cuz I relly think they're the best team out there. Hell, they shoulda won it all last year - and likely would have if Ginn wasn't hurt (what happened to him anyway?). But yeah, if they don't make it it'll be a disappointment I'm sure. They're the class of the NFC, IMO. And that makes them the class of the NFL. | #348dirtyfrankSep 19, 2012 18:34:15 | Yup. Considering a Sith lord, Darth Tenebrous, created a retro-virus for midichlodian, a vaccin would take care of the force. That really only makes sense if metachlorian are (or are similar to) mitochondria. That being retrovirus attack DNA/RNA so basically only cell nuclei and mitochondria which contain such material. If metachlorian were bacteria he'd only need to make something that was anti bacterial that would be sprayed on or ingested since bacteria have really two general places to live. On our skin or digestive tract. There would be zero reason for a virus, let alone retrovirus, if that is all that was needed. Since he was making a retrovirus that means that it is the metachlorians that are being targeted themselves and that they have to be contained within cells themselves and whatnot. and junk. For those that are not familiar with retroviruses feel free to think about HIV since it is an example of such a virus. |
