Doctor Who's alignment

A question crossed my mind just now. What alignment would the Doctor be (from the British TV series Doctor Who)?

Obviously in 4E he would be good without question.

I've actually never had a problem with 3E's alignment and still use it as a guide to decide how certain characters might act. It is in that mindset that I asked the above question.

So in 3E what alignment would the Doctor be?

I'd say Neutral Good but I could see arguments for both Lawful and Chatoic (hence why I chose Neutral).

The thing is, his personality changes with each regeneration.
So presumably, his alignment could well change as well.
So it depends on which of the 10 (there have been 10, right?) you mean.

Unaligned.

He is generally benign towards humanity, but he ran from the Time War. He has been accused of being the reason the Time Lords were wiped out, an accusation he does not deny.

To be fair, it varies by regeneration - with him generally bouncing back and forth between Good and Unaligned. There once was a future version of him that was evil, biut he made sure that version of himself would not come about.

In 3E, neutral good to true neutral, depending. Again, his personality has changed over the regenerations, sometimes radically.

RESISTING SPOILERS

He's generally (in old money) Chaotic Good - but it does vary

he, usually, has a distrust of authority & authoritarian figures. Ran away from Gallifrey because he didn't like all the stuffy rules, and likes helping people

On, what i would post, if i could get spoiler-boxes to work.............

"Extreminate, exterminate!" I laugh whenever I hear that. Also, why do people care then The Doctor dies, he comes back.

Anyway, The Doctor is unaligned with good tendancies.

I cared about why the newest Doctor died because I liked the actor and I'm kind of bummed that he won't be coming back. I think David Tennant was one of the best Doctors, if not the best Doctor, and it sucks that his version of the Doctor is dead.

Depends on whether you count the original movies or not.

Peter Cushing movies are not cannon

if you want to know (again, in old money, as we have more alignments)

1st Doctor (william Hartnel) - NG
2nd Doctor (Pat Troughton) - CG
3rd Doctor (John Pertwee) - NG, possibly even LG (could be argued)
4th Doctor (tom Baker)- CG
5th Doctor (Peter Davidson)- NG
6th Doctor (Colin Baker) - Unsure. was too inconsistantly written. possibly NG
7th Doctor (Sly McCoy) - CG.
8th Doctor (Paul McGann) - who cares, paul McGann doesn't count (to quote Queer as Folk)
9th Doctor (Chris Ecclestone, who i went to school with) - CG
10th Doctor (David Tennant (or Teninch as John Barrowman calls him)) - CG

Tennant is supposed to be in the next series (in 2010), but I'm not sure if that means he'll survive, there'll be a flashback with him in or that TV guide are wrong from time to time.

That's excellent news. I haven't read any news or anything about it, just watched the show. I made assumptions based on previous series.

Or...
WARNING, SPOILERS CONTAINED WITHIN THIS SBLOCK
He channels his regeneration energy into his old hand, and is fine. (I'm not quite sure what happened, because I missed the first 5 minutes or so. I know it's something like that because of the whole Doctor Donna thing.)
