#1 EscherEnigma Mar 08, 2010 12:02:12	So apparently season 1 of Dollhouse got released to DVD at some point and I didn't notice.  Anyway, is it worth it?  Me and the man have liked Wedon's other TV Shows (Buffy, Angel, Firefly), but as we're stingy and don't have cabel, never caught Dollhouse while it was on the air.  I heard mixed reviews, some saying it was kinda all-over-the-place, others that it finally got into it's groove near the end of the season, and so-on. But what do people think?  Is it worth getting?  Worth trying to convince one of my friends to get and borrow for a one-time viewing?  Just not worth watching?
#2 johnkretzer Mar 08, 2010 12:12:41	I liked it and say it is worth it, the first 4 epsisodes are meh...but the seris picks up as it moves along.  but it was canceled and allowed to come to end during the 2nd season....So before I will say get season one I'll have to get season 2 to see how it was wrapped up.
#3 scypio Mar 08, 2010 12:12:56	I enjoyed Dollhouse. It started off a little on the slow side, but the characters were good enough that even lesser episodes were worthwhile. It begins with lots of random assignments where I imagine you are supposed to get a feel of the world and story without it all being thrown at you at once. I'm not exactly sure about the timing of episodes, but I remember thinking the first episode was only okay, but by the end of the first season, it was pretty good. The second half of the second season really picks up and kind of rushes towards the ending (since it was being cancelled). So it definitely feels rushed and some things are just stated, but given the circumstances, its not too bad. There are some philosophical ideas thrown in at times, but they never really addressed more than as questions. I think there are several characters who were very well written, some quirky and some stone-cold, but I don't think I particularly liked the main character (I was a big fan of Faith though). I would definately say its worth watching, but I would say I do prefer Buffy and Firefly (only saw the first season of Angel) to it.
#4 mynameisjake Mar 08, 2010 19:13:28	What's really amazing is seeing where Whedon started with the story, and then comparing it to where he intended to end up. It's like night and day. Unfortunately, he apparently assumed he'd have a lot longer to develop the story, than he actually did. The first season was almost all "adventure of the week" episodes that really weren't all that interesting. By the time he finished introducing the characters and the world, and started the story arc, it was too late. Which was a shame, really. Dollhouse could have been a really good sci-fi adventure show, if he hadn't spent so much time trying to make it seem 'character heavy' and "sci-fi lite'.
#5 boraxe Mar 09, 2010 8:20:58	I was a fan of Buffy and Angel. I think Firefly is the best thing on US television in the past decade. Dollhouse gave me a big case of "Meh".
#6 greatfrito Mar 11, 2010 13:46:29	Another fan of Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Dr. Horrible - and of Dollhouse too, I guess. The first... most of Season 1, I didn't care for.  Too "episode of the week", not enough plot.  However, the characters (at leas thte non-doll characters) are pretty awesome, and continue to get better.  The closer you get to the end of Season 1, the better it gets.  The last few episodes of Season 1 really "sold me" on the show.  The unaired 13th episode... less so*. Season 2 started out fairly "meh" again, but picks up fast, quickly becoming awesome-episodes after awesome-episode, with a continuous plot.  It keeps it up, and is extremely good for nearly the entire season... and then the last 1-1/2 episodes just ruined it for me.  The last episode, I just didn't care for, and the episode before that (which is more effectively the "series finale" - the last episode is an epilogue) is an exercise in missed potential. *: I didn't go back and watch Epitaph I until before the second-to-last episode of Season 2.  Perhaps in order, it would have been better.
