| #1lordandtailorMay 10, 2010 4:59:50 | Hey there folks! Let me introduce myself; Im 20 years old, and have been playing D&D and assorted RPG games for 10 years. I have never been a player...Im the guy that always had the honour (heh) of DMing. But when I started university 3 years ago, and my friends and I moved apart, there was a void of our regular D&D, Shadowrun, or RIFTS nights that I sorely missed. Thus, Empire In Blood was born. Let me preface this; the game is not based on D&D rules...but D&D was my first RPG, and one of our core members was found on this very site. So naturally, I have come back here to find our newest blood. To say that this forum game is my baby is an understatement. It started last July, as an exercise in communicating with my friends daily through a persistent Warhammer Fantasy campaign (heavily modified, but recognizable). We post once a day (I post in the morning, and the players have the rest of the day and night to get theirs up. What it has grown into, however, is something that makes me proud daily. Over the span of 1000 posts (in the campaign alone...2000+ posts sitewide), we have had one of the most deep roleplaying/online dice-gaming experiences ever dreamed. Though some characters have come and go over the course of the year, we have made good friends with a complete stranger, and our core members have remained consistent. Recently, however, we have lost a player due to real-life problems, and so are looking for a 5th member for our team. First, let me go over the features of the game: *Daily roleplay fix! The characters are deep, the customization is endless. If theres not a rule for something, I make one. No metagaming! *No need to own or read any rulebooks. Rules are on the site. Its a deep system that utilized D100% for most, and thus it is a heavily skill-based game. *Mature, friendly players. Once you join us, you are one of us! We are a family. *Custom crafting system of my own design. If you can think of a profession, then I can make it happen. *Custom skill system. To accompany the crafting and combat abilities of our world, skills are dynamic and virtually endless. *Custom combat and class abilities. I departed from WHFRPs class system because I found it too bland. Instead, I custom-tailor every class for the character. If you can come up with a plausible backstory that is applicable to the setting, then you can do it. I will tailor your abilities, feats, skills, spells, and attacks as I see fit, allowing you infinite progression through class-ladders. *Nearly a year of consistent play. No fear of your hard work going towards nothing, we have all invested our blood and sweat into this campaign, and it is here to stay! *Immersive world, broad-sweeping campaign arc, planned storyline, constant action and intrigue. *Writing/Fluff contests with in-game rewards and Weekly/Daily reward systems for good posting Okay, now that Ive dropped the sales pitch on you (hah, forgive me...Im taking some marketing courses ), I hope that I have your interest. I promise you, you will have fun playing this game. It is my vocation to be a dungeonmaster, and I will do everything I can to make your role in the story immersive and deep. But there are expectations that I have for prospective members of my site:*Spelling and grammar are a must. I plan on compiling the campaign into a booklet at some point, and I find that careless typing really detracts from the setting. That being said, we are not perfect...typos and grammatical errors find their way into the posts frequently. But you must make a good effort to avoid these things. *Religious posting. You must post once a day. The campaign really only progresses if you post, so if you dont, you are cheating yourself and everyone else. That being said, there is certainly understanding for personal emergencies...and if you ever need to take a short leave of absence, I can always arrange something for you. Communication is key. *Deep posting. Put thought into your post. Posting once a day takes 10 to 20 minutes, but it is only as rich an experience as you make it. *Understand that it is a forum game. The timeline is sometimes slightly out of whack, depending on the order of the players posts. You will make your post in response to the one before you, but sometimes it will require DM interpretation. This is part of the ebb and flow. I feel that these are fair requirements, given the amount of work that all players and the DM (and you!) put into the game. You will get as much out of it as you put in, that I promise! So, if at this point you are still interested, I heartily recommend that you think about joining us! Aside from these caveats, we are very easy-going and friendly. Posting once a day is a no-brainer; in the time it takes you to make a cup of coffee, you can very easily make a post. Here is the application process: First off, the other characters in the campaign- Rika Marsen - Human Artificer/Tinkerer...D&D 4e Inspired...sort of a Mage with a technological twist. Wulfric - Human Huntsman/Ranger...Man of the woods, privy to bow, axe, and pipeweed. Artimus De Londe - Human Mariner/Swashbuckler...Brettonian, heavily accented, bare-chested bravado. Tep Gulaman - Halfling Thief/Rogue...Small, agile, and wide-eyed in the face of coin and opportunity. We recently lost our Cleric of the White Lady, Brother Cadwallen. However, the possibilities for your character are virtually limitless. Dark and gritty is the theme. No manga-inspired cat-people, please ![]() To apply, send me a PM through the forums (thats how it works here, yeah?). Alternatively, here is my email. Email: lordandtailor@gmail.com In your application, please send me a character concept. You will be considered based on your writing ability, and the originality of your application. In the concept (which I would really appreciate in paragraph, creative format...not point form!) (...yikes, I sound like my professors....) please include: *Prospective Name *Class Outline (nothing technical, just what you do/are good at) *Motivations As a footnote, please include: *Your real name *Your reason for wanting to join EIB *A little about yourself! I hope these expectations arent too steep! Hope to hear from you soon... -Lordandtailor (Andrew) PS - The website: empireinblood.lefora.com Check it out, get familiar with the format, and read the campaign! (Its like a good novel ) |
