| #1EscherEnigmaOct 28, 2010 11:15:55 | I can't decide if [this] fascinates me or horrifies me. So let's just say it terrifies me, making it terrific. I mean... on one hand, kinda neat. On the other... what the ****? Also not sure just how many blankets you can squeeze under that zip-top. I know at the moment me and the SO are using something like two blankets1, including one of those super-heavy afghans, so I'm not sure whether that would work for us even if we wanted one. Anyway, I'm rambling. Just saw something... interesting... and wanted to share. ________ 1And we'll probably be adding another in another week or so2. 2We live in New Mexico. We're wusses about the cold3. 3Yes, this probably means that if we head out east like I want, we'll probably be bundled up more then everyone around us for a few years until we acclimate. |
| #2jesse.two.coinsOct 28, 2010 11:55:23 | you dont have to zip it up escher you can flip the comforter off and use ur own blankets. its more about making it up than lying in it from what i understand |
| #3EscherEnigmaOct 28, 2010 12:02:32 | ... yes... but if I can't zip it up without taking blankets off, that kinda defeats the purpose, yes? |
| #4jesse.two.coinsOct 28, 2010 12:09:02 | yes of course which means its more of a for show type of thing get it? its for the kind of person that has everything type of deal |
| #5iqwinnOct 28, 2010 14:44:27 | The concept is interesting, but you still have to make the bed before you zip it up, don't you? I agree with Jesse: this is something for the guy who has everything, but it is a gimmick. IMHO, if you gave this as a gift, you shouldn't be surprised to find it in the Salvation Army store the following weekend. It also looks like it comes in queen size and California King size (it's actually a little smaller than a CA King, so my feet would probably stick out of the end...brr). |
| #6modern_iconoclastOct 28, 2010 16:36:32 | I imagine the first few nights where you wake up and feel trapped and panic a milisecond before realizing you're in your new zipped-bed. |
| #7toastedamphibianOct 28, 2010 17:35:42 | Uh, perfect for storeing sex slaves, I guess... nah, would need to be vinyl. I do not imagine they will catch on. |
| #8Mad_JackOct 29, 2010 1:28:28 | I'm getting this image of somebody in a movie walking into the bedroom to find the outline of their dead SO or spouse sticking up through the zipped-up cover... ![]() Also...
Bwahahahahahaha!!! ![]() By the time you've acclimated to the cold out here, people may have finally stopped laughing and pointing at you... (Lifelong New Englander here...I walk out to the end of my driveway barefoot and wearing a t-shirt in three inches of snow to get the mail. ) |
| #9iqwinnOct 29, 2010 15:41:12 | My poor wife is a wuss about the cold. I'm more used to it, and have no problem driving in the snow, as long as I have good studded (or STUDLY! as I call them) snow tires. As for walking barefoot in the snow, sorry, dude, but you're nuts! ![]() |
| #10toastedamphibianOct 29, 2010 15:53:57 | Snow? What's that? |
| #11modern_iconoclastOct 29, 2010 16:29:38 | Snow? What's that? It's cold s**t falling from the sky... but it's white. I'd trade some for a tornado or two you have down south. |
| #12KlirshonOct 29, 2010 20:09:11 | Snow? What's that? Tropospheric dandruff? |
| #13toastedamphibianOct 29, 2010 20:40:52 | My dandruff is falling inside! MY! DANDRUFF! IS! FALLING! INSIDE! **nuuurggahhhh!** Mabey I should wander around on halloween yelling that at random passers-by. |
| #14Cpt_MichaOct 29, 2010 20:55:59 | I bet we get snow this year. It was damned cold this morning. |
| #15Ragnar_LodbrokOct 30, 2010 0:01:48 | We're supposed to get reasonable temperatures this year; it hardly went below freezing last time. |
| #16Mad_JackOct 30, 2010 1:37:58 |

| #17EscherEnigmaOct 30, 2010 14:13:19 | Bwahahahahahaha!!! Yeah, we're pathetic at the moment... back when I lived in New England (grew up in Connecticut) I loved the snow and cold and didn't worry about that stuff, and for like five years after moving out to New Mexico I wore shorts year round, but I've been out in this desert too long... I actually have to bundle up in the winter now... Still, we're better then those retired people in Yuma. I went there a Christmas or two ago and me and my family are walking around in t-shirts and whatever, and all the locals are running around in two coats like the snowpocalypse is coming. Funny stuff. |
| #18iqwinnOct 31, 2010 2:04:47 | Oh, crimony. Reminds me of the people in Florida, especially the retirees, who put on coats and long underwear when the temperature gets below 75 degrees. LOL! Here in Idaho, things had to get below 50 degrees before I even thought of putting on a coat. |
| #19pigknightOct 31, 2010 11:03:22 | 69o is coat time here in California with undeniable girls with daisy dukes and bikinis on top that can melt popsicles by mere contact with their skin. |
| #20Ragnar_LodbrokOct 31, 2010 11:34:06 | I walk to school in t-shirt and jeans no matter how cold it gets (with wind chill, it got down to about 16 degrees one morning last year. Wasn't too bad). |
| #21EscherEnigmaOct 31, 2010 13:56:23 | 69o is coat time here in California with undeniable girls with daisy dukes and bikinis on top that can melt popsicles by mere contact with their skin. ... Um... body temperature of any living person should be enough to melt popsicles with skin contact. That's how heat transfer works. |
| #22iqwinnOct 31, 2010 20:14:18 |
LOL, that's a totally different kind of hotness, pigknight! |
| #23jesse.two.coinsNov 01, 2010 6:28:10 | you don't zip it up when you sleep in it i think ![]() |
