| #1zombie_babiesJun 08, 2010 11:57:20 | Pretty obvious. Tell us you're favorite movies that are so bad, they're good and why. I'll start us off: Black Dog. Look, it's got Patrick Friggin' Swayze, Travis Tritt and Meatloaf. Yeah, the Loaf himself. Oh, and a big truck. It's really bad. Embarrasingly, actually. And that's what makes it wonderful. |
| #2ADHadhJun 08, 2010 12:12:51 | Street Fighter, natch. |
| #3boraxeJun 08, 2010 12:20:14 | Airheads and Zoolander are two of my fave bad films. |
| #4EscherEnigmaJun 08, 2010 12:56:30 | Does Legally Blond count? What about Knight's Tale or 10 Things I Hate About You? |
| #5zombie_babiesJun 08, 2010 13:36:57 | I think those count as 'so bad they're bad' myself. |
| #6pbnJun 08, 2010 13:38:47 | Oh come on, now |
| #7IdolisJun 08, 2010 13:46:35 | Pretty obvious. Tell us you're favorite movies that are so bad, they're good and why. I'll start us off: It wasn't Travis Tritt it was Randy Travis, totally different but yeah, I liked it. It makes my list. |
| #8MechaPilotJun 08, 2010 14:08:51 | Flash Gordon I wouldn't say "it's so bad it's good", but I would say "it's so camp that it's good". |
| #9zombie_babiesJun 08, 2010 14:15:42 | Oh come on, now |
| #10IdolisJun 08, 2010 14:18:27 | lol |

| #12IdolisJun 08, 2010 14:23:05 | Does Darkman make anyone else's list? |
| #13zombie_babiesJun 08, 2010 14:28:54 | Holy hell. I forgot about that'n. And yes, it does make my list. |
| #14Mad_JackJun 09, 2010 0:57:00 | Rocky Horror (I'm sure by now that everybody knows how harcore Rocky I am, lol) Shock Treatment (the RH "sequel") Flash Gordon (another movie w/ Richard O'Brien )I really kind of liked Black Dog... REPO: The Genetic Opera (though not quite as good as others on the list - it borders on just bad) Phantom of the Paradise Lair of the White Worm Phantom of the Mall Battle Beyond the Stars Dreamscape The Perils of Gwendolyn in the land of the Yik Yak (Tawny Kitaen, yo!) Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (3-D!) Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (also 3-D!) Treasure of the Four Crowns (in Wondervision 3-D!) Dead Heat (Joe Piscopo is the man!) Can ya tell I hit puberty in the mid-80's? lol |
| #15MusicOfCreationJun 09, 2010 2:01:39 | Nothing for me but the Big Three. Plan Nine From Outer Space Manos: The Hands of Fate Troll 2 |
| #16toastedamphibianJun 09, 2010 5:38:43 | TheBeastMaster![]() |
| #17KlirshonJun 09, 2010 9:15:24 | Killer Klowns from Outer Space |
| #18zombie_babiesJun 09, 2010 9:37:33 | I was gonna say Hell Comes to Frogtown, but I honestly like it I think. I mean, it's pretty bad, but that's not why I like it. It reminds me of bein' a kid or something. So it may fit on the list, but I'm not sure. Opinions? |
| #19pbnJun 09, 2010 11:54:01 | Killer Klowns from Outer Space yep - forgot about that one. |
| #20DuskweaverJun 09, 2010 12:10:26 | Starship Troopers. I can't believe people are still arguing over whether it was meant to be satire... |
| #21ADHadhJun 09, 2010 13:42:40 | Starship Troopers. It was meant to diss the book. I was thoroughly surprised when I've found out the original troopers were more like Space Marines than Imperial Guard. |
| #22idhrinielJun 09, 2010 13:52:52 | I heard Star Wars I-III were kinda crappy. |
| #23eratoJun 09, 2010 14:33:45 | Does Legally Blond count? What about Knight's Tale or 10 Things I Hate About You? I actually think the latter two are fairly good. Not great art or anything, but succeeding within their premise. My choice has to be New Moon. Twilight was a bit too close to being so bad it's horrible instead, but New Moon had some fairly enjoyable sequences, mixed with a lot of gratuitous fanservice and narm, all coming together to make a perfect good-bad film. The Conan movies and Starship Troopers are pretty good-bad too. |
| #24idhrinielJun 09, 2010 14:34:33 | mmm...jacob...![]() |
| #25EscherEnigmaJun 09, 2010 15:13:58 | My choice has to be New Moon. Twilight was a bit too close to being so bad it's horrible instead, but New Moon had some fairly enjoyable sequences, mixed with a lot of gratuitous fanservice and narm, all coming together to make a perfect good-bad film. If I had more friends in town I'd get everyone over to get drunk and watch that movie. Take a shot everytime we get gratuitous fan-service. |
| #26scypioJun 09, 2010 15:33:24 | What about Sci-Fi original features like Hydra, Ogre, Mega Piranha, etc? I've never seen them, but my friends love to make fun of them. And I've seen some clips on the Soup and they're comically poor. I'm surprised no one mentioned any of them yet. |
| #27zombie_babiesJun 09, 2010 15:40:51 | Well, what I'm lookin' for are movies that tread a very fine line. Movies that aren't just bad, but movies that are so bad they're good without being so bad they're bad at the same time. I think some of the Siffy originals would qualify, but not all. Some are just plain ol' garden variety terrible. With Manskeeters on top. |
| #28eratoJun 09, 2010 17:25:15 | My choice has to be New Moon. Twilight was a bit too close to being so bad it's horrible instead, but New Moon had some fairly enjoyable sequences, mixed with a lot of gratuitous fanservice and narm, all coming together to make a perfect good-bad film. That would have to be a judgement call. I mean, it's pretty obvious when someone take their shirt off, but most of the time, the boys just walk around without clothes on their upper body, so you'd have to judge if it's inappropriate for the situation before drinking. |
| #29williamhm75Jun 10, 2010 18:07:27 | www.imdb.com/title/tt0344843/ Ankle Biters midget vampires enough said. |
| #30toastedamphibianJun 10, 2010 19:16:44 | Wow, I did not expect all this.... apathey towards The Beast Master. |
| #31williamhm75Jun 10, 2010 20:37:06 | Wow, I did not expect all this.... apathey towards The Beast Master. Me neither I liked both the movie and the show.. |
| #32IdolisJun 10, 2010 20:39:40 | Beast Master rocked! I just didn't think I had to come out and say it. I thought it was a given. |
| #33MechaPilotJun 10, 2010 23:34:30 | The Beast Master series was so bad it was good. So was the Sheena, queen of the jungle series. One film I'm surprised hasn't been listed yet is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The series was just good, but the original movie was definitely so camp and so bad that it rocked. |
| #34Mad_JackJun 10, 2010 23:39:24 | Eh, maybe I'm just far too much a child of the era, but I really don't consider The Beastmaster to really be all that bad... |
| #35The_SilverswordJun 11, 2010 0:21:10 | Does Darkman make anyone else's list? That movie made my step mom leave the theater in a panic! Right around the time the guy gets his fingers cut off with the cigar cutter. So yeah its definitely on my list. Another good bad one. One of Peter Jackson's worst: Meet the Feebles. |
| #36evilveganJun 11, 2010 5:24:15 | Crank 2. |
| #37scypioJun 11, 2010 8:56:50 | Universal Soldier: The Return. The only scene I remember is this one: Its the end of the movie and some building or something is blowing up or burning down or something like that. Jean Claude Van Damme is running out and he comes across the girl/love interest character. She's really hurt and stuff. The conversation goes like this: JCVD: "Blah, I'll save you." Girl: "No save yourself." JCVD: "Okay" And he leaves her to die. C'mon, that's so bad that its good, right? |
| #38zombie_babiesJun 11, 2010 9:07:26 | Yeah, JCVD likely has a few that qualify. Here's another: Cyborg. He gets crucified on the mast of a beached pirate ship. Yeah. |
| #39ViolenceJackJun 11, 2010 9:11:59 | I know EE doesn't like this one, but I think it is so bad it's good: Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter. Love it. Surprisingly respectful of Christianity, which is just weird. Another one that makes my list but only because of the event attached was Snakes on a Plane. I will never watch it again, but opening night was amazing. People showing up in costume, everybody sneaking alcohol into the theatre, rubber snakes and gummi worms being tossed around during the movie... yeah. It was a great event surrounding a stinking turd of a movie. Wouldn't even have been as fun if it hadn't been such a colossally stupid movie. |
| #40williamhm75Jun 11, 2010 9:22:15 | Hammlet 2. And also Sex in the City 2 |
| #41EscherEnigmaJun 11, 2010 11:01:22 | I know EE doesn't like this one, but I think it is so bad it's good: Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter. Hey, it clears out annoying roommates and guests, so it has some redeeming features. The feature film itself just isn't one of them. |
| #42Cpt_MichaJun 11, 2010 21:40:36 | Evil Dead. |
| #43ORC_ParadoxJun 12, 2010 3:14:57 | Caveman with Ringo Starr and Shelly Long. |
| #44Robin_HoodlumJun 12, 2010 7:11:25 | Caveman with Ringo Starr and Shelly Long. Hey! I liked that movie! |
| #45IdolisJun 12, 2010 12:41:26 | Spaceballs. |
| #46CCSJun 12, 2010 13:20:31 | Personally I love the old seriels from the 30'/40's. There's some good ones, but for the most part? You can save time & just lump them all into that "So bad their good" catagory. Now to be fair, most ended up with this result simply because of the tiny budgets (even for the time) that they were shot on & the basic format that is the seriel..... Flash Gordon (later retitled "Space Soldiers" when it was shown on syndicated TV in the 50s) is an excellent example. |
| #47williamhm75Jun 12, 2010 13:29:40 | Attack of the Killer tomatoes. Or the Mecha godzilla movie. |
| #48Robin_HoodlumJun 12, 2010 17:03:28 | Has anybody said "Big Trouble in Little China"? I love that movie! |
| #49The_SilverswordJun 12, 2010 18:47:22 | Has anybody said "Big Trouble in Little China"? But theres nothing bad about that movie! |
| #50Robin_HoodlumJun 12, 2010 19:27:11 | Has anybody said "Big Trouble in Little China"? I'm telling ya, I can watch that movie 20 times in a row... "It won't bother us anymore." "What?!" "What won't bother us anymore?!" LOL! |
| #51MrCelsiusJun 13, 2010 23:53:53 | The Apple. One of those movies you watch and wonder if it'd actually be good if you were on the right mix of drugs. Not entirely unlike Zardoz in that respect. Ironically, though I've individually lusted after both Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds, Zardoz's making the former look like the latter was not a good thing. The tomato red speedo with matching suspenders bandolier didn't do him any favours either. ![]() |
| #52calronmoonflowerJun 14, 2010 2:06:00 | The Guyver: Plenty of ham to go with this cheesy movie. Street Fighter: Ham and cheese in its purest and most DELICOUS form. Dungeons & Dragons Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God: A Sci-Fi channel original movie. |
| #53pluisjenJun 14, 2010 5:48:12 | Most movies by Steven Seagal are either so bad they're horrible, or so bad they're pretty good. I think Mortal Combat also falls under this? Spaceballs wasn't bad at all, it's completely awesome. |
| #54Robin_HoodlumJun 14, 2010 5:57:55 |
"What's the matter Colonel Sanders?" "Chicken?" Ah...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! |
| #55Mad_JackJun 14, 2010 8:12:25 | Y'know, I don't think any movie intentionally designed as a spoof can really fall into the "so bad it's good" category, since that's sort of the whole purpose of it - if it succeeds at being "so bad it's good" then it's just a good comedy movie. If it fails at being "so bad it's good", then it's just a crappy waste of film... |
| #56zombie_babiesJun 14, 2010 8:23:58 |
That's a fantastic point. Blazing Saddles, for example, would be considered a terrible Western. It's one of the greatest movies of all time, though, precisely because it was meant to be a terrible Western. |
| #57eratoJun 14, 2010 8:39:24 | That's a fantastic point. Blazing Saddles, for example, would be considered a terrible Western. It's one of the greatest movies of all time, though, precisely because it was meant to be a terrible Western. Sort of like Mystery Men? |
| #58zombie_babiesJun 14, 2010 8:48:49 | Ne'er seen it, I'm afraid. ![]() |
| #59EscherEnigmaJun 14, 2010 10:26:48 | Mystery Men was pretty funny in a "see it with friends" sorta way. On that note, funny movies, in general, are probably better to see with friends then alone. |
| #60ADHadhJun 14, 2010 11:16:03 | Mystery Men was pretty funny in a "see it with friends" sorta way. Most movies are better to see with friends, SOs or family than alone. Unless everyone you hang out with is a douche ;) |
| #61scypioJun 14, 2010 11:43:26 | Well, I think it depends on the number of friends. Even with good, non-douchey friends, it can be hard to watch a comedy when there's too much laughing. So while funness can increase with friends, it can also reach a point when it takes a sharp decline. But I'm also kind of anti-social. |
| #62zombie_babiesJun 14, 2010 12:39:44 | Mystery Men was pretty funny in a "see it with friends" sorta way. Totally. I can watch movies by myself just fine. I'd rather share a funny one, though. |
| #63johnkretzerJun 14, 2010 23:53:55 | Dungeon & Dragons was just bad...very bad. Dungeon & Dragon: Wrath of the Dragon God...was better...which made the other one even sadder...I mean it was beaten by a sci-fi orginal movie...how low can you go there. |
| #64Mad_JackJun 15, 2010 2:02:06 | Oddly enough, I prefer watching comedy movies in a theater by myself or with at most one or two other people. My sense of humor tends to be slightly different than those of the people I hang out with - I'm much bigger on intellectual humor and wordplay than "dumb" humor (bodily function jokes, cheap and obvious gags, etc.) - so it occasionally irritates the hell out of me when my "funny parts" are often drowned out by people laughing about things that just happened that I didn't think were all that hysterical... |
| #65MacariusJun 15, 2010 2:25:17 | Ice Pirates. It had space herpes. |
| #66zombie_babiesJun 15, 2010 8:15:35 | It had space herpes. Who hasn't? |
| #67ViolenceJackJun 15, 2010 8:52:04 | Ah, Zardoz. Wish I'd remembered that one first. That was fun. Love that movie, but not because it was good. Mystery Men was fun, especially since it had my favourite performer in it (Tom Waits). Not a bad movie, but a good one. Another intentionally bad movie that works wonderfully well is Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. As for the actual topic, The Master Killer is a hilariously bad kung fu movie. The eye room bit cracks me up every time. |
| #68boraxeJun 15, 2010 11:19:09 | Caveman with Ringo Starr and Shelly Long. Which would kinda be the point of this thread. |
| #69Cpt_MichaJun 15, 2010 22:07:07 | Ice Pirates ***** that was just bad. Terribad. Space Herpes did not save that movie. |
| #70WebsterJun 15, 2010 22:31:44 | Remember the theme of the thread- movies that are so bad, they're actually GOOD. :D |
| #71evilveganJun 16, 2010 6:37:43 | Duel to the Death. Cannibal the Musical (shpadoinkle!) The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension |
| #72AbsintaJun 16, 2010 18:34:46 | Has anyone seen the original subtitled version of Drunken Master? It's wall-to-wall Engrish, with all the fun of Jackie Chan coolness to boot. There was another early Jackie Chan movie that I think was released under a couple of different titles( Snake-Crane Secret may have been one) that cracked me up. All through the first half of the movie, you see shots of this heavily made-up, exotically beautiful woman who might as well be wearing a sign that says "Mysterious Female Villain", with spooky music every time she shows up. About halfway through the film, she simply stops appearing and no attempt is ever made to explain the character or what she was doing in any way! I always wondered if the actress died or had a contractural dispute and they just didn't bother to delete her scenes, or what. |
