I think their major failing was the material between the toes which was extremely weak and tears far too easily. Other than that it was a pretty solid product. Today I went to ****'s and since I was there I decided to look at shoes. Fila has released two new toe shoes, the Skeletoe-Lite and the Skeletoe 2.0. The Skeletoe-Lite basically looks like a skeletoe with a Nike Free sole grafted onto the bottom. Probably useful as a transition shoe, but I already saw the Skeletoe as a transition shoe and a general wear shoe. The Skeletoe 2.0 was only slightly different. It also had a much thicker sole than the old Skeletoe. The issue with the toes was fixed, and the material on the top is much more breathable, but now it just feels like a regular shoe with toes, which pretty much defeats the purpose of having a toe shoe. I also checked out the new Adidas five-toes. They were a lot like the Skeletoe 2.0s. They don't have any means of adjusting the fit, which if you get the right size wouldn't really be a problem I guess, especially since they don't really seem designed as running shoes. The sole was really flexible, but that was negated by its thickness. It appeared that they had pretty much gotten rid of their old stocks of Skeletoes so since none of the new shoes fit my needs I guess I'll keep on using glue for a while. |
